If you were going to only buy one pair of shoes for a 9-12 month old girl for the winter, what would you buy? With my son I got some really plain brown stride rites with the super flexible bottoms...but I can't find a simple pair for girls. They are all either covered in sequins or super frilly. I want something she can wear with anything. Does something like this exist? Or do I have to suck it up and suffer through sequins?

We had plain black stride rite shoes and some brown and pink shoes. I'd look online if you can.

We had a super cute pair of Mary janes from Target (Ministar by Bobux?). They were navy with a few pink and grey dots scattered across the toes. They went with pretty much everything.
When she went up to the next size, I found a pair of stride rites savannah Mary janes with super flexible soles that were plain navy with a tiny bit of pink trim around the top. I only see that style in pink and purple right now, but it's pretty early for fall/winter designs to be out.

I would do black Mary Janes as well. Target usually has very simple styles as do See Kai Run.

My daughter's first shoes (besides Zutano booties) were Clark's--they had the best, super flexible soles, plus were really supportive around her ankles. They were pink and a little frilly for my taste but they were awesome first shoes as she was learning to walk (actually, she was already walking and I had a "crap we need shoes!!" moment...). We got mary janes from smaller by see kai run. I found some that were just plain black.

Smaller by SKR has plain mary janes. I would get black or silver. There are resale FB groups that you can get them used if you want. Otherwise they have sales often.

We had Robeez for last winter, as they weren't totally walking at the time. DD's first hard soles were a pair of See Kai Run Mary Jane sneakers (pink but no sequins or bows). We also have some stride rites that aren't too frilly. They're the Petra sandals, which obviously aren't right for winter, but again, more athletic than frilly!

We had Pedipeds originals for her first shoes. They were so perfect!!

We loved Smaller by See Kai Run.

Honestly, Walmart has a bunch of cute baby shoes at really affordable prices (including Carters). So far, they fit wonderfully and last!
