I met a mom that had her 18 month old potty trained - no pull ups or anything. They just used the potty frequently bc of her small bladder but her daughter did not have accidents. Seems so young but it can be done

My son started waking up dry at 10 or 11 months so we started putting him on the potty. He got the hang of it quickly! It's not consistent, and he can't walk there yet, but its good to at least get him familiar with it at this age so it won't be so foreign later on.

We started at 6 months! Ha. We really started being consistent around 15 months. At 20 months, she has 1-2 accidents per week.

I say go for it!! Her school encourages potty training as soon as they can walk (or 15 months), whichever comes first.

It's not too early. DD was potty trained at 15 months and I've known a few kids while working in daycares that were potty trained at 18 months. Go for it! It's easier when they want to.

I don't think it's "too" early but you will probably still need to help him aim and pull up/down his pants for a while? But definitely beats changing dirty diapers. Good luck!!

My DD started doing the same thing around that age, now she yells "poopy! poopy!" whenever she has a dirty diaper (even if it's just pee). We got her both a potty chair and a ring for the big potty, and she likes sitting on them, but we haven't gotten much further toward potty training. She totally gets that you sit down, wipe, and flush...but we haven't yet gotten her to understand what ELSE you're supposed to do on the potty! She hasn't once gone to the bathroom there, even after countless times sitting there. I think she's just still too young to put it all together. So for now, we're just encouraging her to do what she does and when she finally goes on the potty, we'll make a huge deal about it and probably start more actively working toward training. She just turned 21 months so I don't want to rush it, but also don't want to hold her back once she is ready.

Oh Crap! Potty Training book suggests that under two years is the ideal time to train, and my ped said that too. If they're showing signs, go for it!

It would have been for my daughter, who was on the later end at 2y9m, but I think there are some kids that are just ready to start earlier!

we started casually at 18 months with charlie and he was totally ready. i think it depends on the child.

olive wasn't ready until she was 3.

back in the olden days when i was a young un, i was potty trained by 14 months when my brother was born because cloth diapers hand washed aka no choice!
