If your SO were to say he would stay with the kids while you ran to the store to grocery shop or just get a few household items, would you consider that a nice parenting break? I'm about to go grab just a few things from the store solo, and I'm super excited to get "me time" even though I'm not doing anything super special.

Absolutely. Getting to the grocery store solo is a break, let alone getting to the mall!

DH thinks this is a break, but shopping is a chore in my book. I have learned to make the most of these moments because I am still the only one that does them. Every shopping trip starts off with a little Starbucks.

Hmmm I'd say yes to household (aka Target) but not grocery store. I don't' linger at grocery store but Target or mall I could linger and make it a "me" day.

Nope. Shopping is only me time if I'm somewlike Nordstrom shopping for ME. Solo grocery shopping is just doing chores at a lower degree of difficulty.

It's definitely better than doing t with the kids. So it's somewhere in between, but no it's not the same as shopping for myself or getting a massage or playing golf (for him).

Yes on weekends but if I have to go shopping at the end of a work day it's a chore.

I think of it as a break, but not free time, if you know what I mean. I enjoy getting to go quickly, listen to podcasts in the car, and not have to load groceries while wearing a baby, but it's not what I would do if I had an hour to myself.

Yes! I don't usually love the grocery store, but I it's so nice to do any shipping without planning, prep, etc. Target, errands, or clothes shopping? Definitely

It's a break, but it's not "me" time if I'm still performing chores/tasks/duties for others.

Sort of. It's awesome to grocery shop without 2 kids, but I wouldn't exactly call it "me" time!

I actually hate shopping alone so it's not much of a break. I feel lonely walking through the aisles by myself and usually don't buy everything I need. I do enjoy the drive and listen to music or NPR.

I've always liked grocery shopping and shopping chores, so with kids now, it's a nice break. Even taking my 15 month old with me isn't that bad. He's happy in the cart while I shop. Shopping by myself is a break, shopping with one kid is not so bad, shopping with two is not fun and can be tough solo.

Not at all. I've made it more enjoyable by listening to podcasts while I shop (honestly, I used to think it was rude to shop with headphones in, now I don't care and I keep it low enough to be able to hear/speak to someone if necessary) but it's not a break at all. It's a chore. The kids get all excited and crazy when I get home. Digging through bags for snacks and begging me to hold them so coming home to put them away is still a pain too.

For me, it's definitly me time. It's a 20 minute drive just to get to the store. I crank my music up and enjoy the drive.

DH thinks its "free time"...we have had arguments over this. its a break from the kids but is by no means "free" time - its still a chore. An un-pleasant one at the wrong time of day!

Depends on the shopping. I hate going to the grocery store alone for some reason. If it's Target or the mall for myself then maybe? But a lot of the times it still feels like a chore. I'm not really a shopper anymore.
