It's a near impossibility to change my 10 month old. She's quick, strong, and a complete ninja. She's got faking left, rolling right, crawling away to pull up on something, then peeing on the floor down to a science. I'd be mortified if I ever had to change her in public in the view of a stranger.

@PinkElephant: YES. I always say its like trying to handcuff an octopus. Suddenly she has twice the limbs and they are all flailing and grabbing onto anything she can get and rolling, trying to sit/stand up.... etc.

My son is an angel when it comes to diaper changes. He would come from across the room and lay down in front of me when I told him it's time for a change. My daughter, on the other hand, is freakin impossible. Twists, turns, kicks one leg out as soon as the other leg is on, pulling off the clean diaper the minute I get it on, grabs for the poopy diaper, you name it she does it. She can go from laying down to standing on the dresser in two seconds. She's only 1, I can't imagine what she'll do when she gets older and more inventive!

Yes! Always trying to sit up. I try to distract him with toys, songs, funny faces, or telling him to clap his hands.

@mae: handcuff an octopus. Love it! I've never heard that one before but it describes the situation perfectly.

@BabyTsMom: I don't know when it stops because I dont remember my first being this feisty! It did stop eventually - maybe after she became a confident walker and didn't have to prove she could get away. For now my strategy is to give LO2 a few (clean) wipes to play with/chomp on (she loves sucking on wipes - gross), have more wipes ready for me, and to try to hold all four limbs in one hand. And to get her big sis out of the immediate area so LO2 isn't chasing after her.

We're casually potty training right now, and I swear it's worse than ever She's so determined to do everything by herself ... it's not very efficient, to put it lightly.

It often requires two of us in the morning to get the job done. One to distract with a song, and one to tend to the business of changing his diaper. I fear what it will be like when he no longer fits on the changing table and we have to resort to the floor. Seems like he will just take off!

E is mostly potty-trained during the day, but putting a diaper on at night is ridiculous. I used to have to try to pin him down to put it on, and would get aggravated easily, so now I just leave the room and tell him I'll be back when he's ready. He usually calls me back in asking to put a diaper on within seconds.

At age 2 DD just comes up and lays down. I do my thing and away she goes.
DS however is 14 months, ridiculously strong and has the alligator roll down pat. I have to either act fast or sit on the floor with him and drape my leg over his chest/belly. He holds still when I do it. That's about as much as I have figured out

My daughter is 21 months and it is often awful but I think the number of good days is improving. We cloth diaper and the diapers have snaps, so I can pretty easily change her if she is standing up. Frequently I can get her interested in looking for birds out the window or something like that and it's enough to distract her while I change it. (Other times she's yelling no mommy no! as I struggle to get it on and she struggles to rip it off...so it's certainly a toss-up).

We do the stand up diaper change. She's much more amenable to that than lying down.

We're on the other side of the bell curve with DD1. It used to be awful but now she's very cooperative, I think because she's ready to potty train. She hates having wet or dirty diapers now.
DD2 is still too little for it to be hard.
