I vote you go for it! What about a gift certificate for a spa? Calling off your wedding takes guts and it must have been a really heart wrenching decision and a spa day is probably in order!

@Cole: such a good idea! I was thinking a physical gift might be awkward if she doesn't want a material sort of reminder of the wedding being called off or sees it as a kind of consolation/pity gift. But something like a spa day is a good self-care idea!

I think a spa/self care gift of some sort sounds like a great idea. If she's staying with her parents for now rather than moving out on her own with her new partner, she might not want to hold onto the sort of household gifts you'd typically get at a bridal shower/wedding.

I think it's thoughtful, and I also was going to suggest a spa/massage gift cert.

Could you take her out to dinner? Or do something else with her as a group/one-on-one? I feel like this might be a situation where, if I were in her shoes, I'd like to have company and do something diverting. A spa is nice, just kind of solitary, and maybe that feeling isn't one she would want to dwell on. But it really depends on her personality. I'm guessing she's okay with hanging out with a group of close friends and family, since she's hosting the party anyhow. I'd try to get a feel for where she's at and let that help you decide.

I agree that an experience gift is the way to go, maybe even a bunch of little ones (bagels and coffee on a Saturday morning, a walk at the park, a movie, etc.).
