    This is my potted tree, stays up all year. I might add white lights to it.

    We put up our tree yesterday. The kids are getting really good at helping me decorate and they are already asking Alexa to play Christmas songs on repeat, lol.

    We have a small condo, so we have a small, slimline tree. Since it’s skinny it only takes a few min to decorate, and we store the box on the top shelf of our master closet.

    Love seeing everyone's decorations! They're gorgeous!

    We won't be putting our tree up until the first Sunday in December. That's our tradition. I like to make an afternoon of it, with Christmas cookies, carols and usually some kind of hearty dinner. In the meantime, I'm putting up some of our smaller pieces of decor like our wreath. I also purchased a poinsettia centerpiece for our dinning-room table.

    We always get our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, and try to get it decorated that weekend but it sometimes extends into the following week. We've got our real tree in the stand letting the branches settle overnight and we'll decorate after school/work tomorrow and maybe Tuesday night also.

    I got everybody motivated and we did it yesterday - the tree is decorated, the house is too, and the outside lighting is done! Not taking down the lights around the roof last year really helped streamline that process.

    I put up the one in our living room (along with decor for the niche) but I still have to decorate the fireplace, put up the Christmas curtains (don't ask), AND put up the 4 foot tree in the foyer, the 2-foot tree in the dining room, and the "Charlie Brown tree" (* yes, we have one of those. πŸ˜‚) in our guest room. My DH and DD are "Christmas people" so one tree isn't enough. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Those two are a bit too festive for my taste ... but I aim to please out of love! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

    We got our fresh tree set up on Black Friday. My boys have managed to break 7 ornaments in a matter of 24 hours! They live decorating for Christmas!!!

    @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: so adorable!
    @Kaohinani: wow sounds busy. lovely tree!
    @Sams Mom: wow what a tree! How did you reach the top?
    @hellobeeboston: so exciting!
    @Anagram: such a lovely space

    @Mrsbells: I'm just over 6', and the things I couldn't reach I would make my husband or dad (6'4" & 6'5") get on a step stool and place ornaments with lots of coaching πŸ˜‚

    And I had to cut 6" off the top for the star to fit; I think they had it mismarked.

    @Sams Mom: haha wow!
    @Alba4: yes my little ones constantly drop ornaments, thankfully I have cheap shatterproof ones so they just pick them up again

    @Kaohinani: Nope, I have to ask - what are Christmas curtains?

  16. Kaohinani

    grapefruit / 4144 posts

    @MrsBells: Thank you! It IS a bit much. The years I try and skimp on it, DH calls me the Grinch. πŸ˜‚

    @Dahlia: I still haven't unearthed them from the rest of Chistmas storage; however, I found a pic of them on Amazon just to humor you. πŸ˜‰ My set is about 6 feet long (tall) and decorates the two foyer picture windows in the front of our home.

    @Kaohinani: oh my gosh, those are amazing. Please tell me you pull them shut and use them as the backdrop for a Christmas-themed photo booth!

    We have been living abroad since August and won't be back to our house until after the new year, so all our decorations will stay in storage. We did buy a teeny tiny table tree here though!

    Mine went up on Sunday. I don't and won't ever decorate before Thanksgiving. I feel like all the instagram influencers just decorate early so they can start pushing the swipe up Christmas sales ASAP. (Sorry if that sounds catty )

    Ours went up really early this year. Like October early. But it was a gift from my mom's friend for our new house and she wanted to make sure we liked it, that it fit, and wasn't damaged - so we set it up and then decided it was silly to take it down and pack it away for just a month.

    We typically put it up thanksgiving week - sometimes a few days before thanksgiving, sometimes the day of, sometimes the day or two after. Just depends when DH is off work.

    @Mrs. Oreo: Thank you. We purchased them last year when DH was on a quest for a "more festive" foyer. 🀣 I found them again on Amazon. There are TWENTY different patterns and a bunch of sizes.

    @Mrs. Oreo: @Sams Mom: I misread the "tone" of the comment. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
    I thought they were treated with some ultra-flamable toxic treatment or were listed somewhere as "not intended for actual in home use." 🀣 In either case, they were used last year so harm was already done. 😱

    @catgirl: wow october is early. I do know people that decorate the tree with fall colors and then after thanksgiving redecorate it for christmas

  33. catgirl

    nectarine / 2018 posts

    @Mrsbells: Yeah, definitely early, and not something we would typically do. But like I said - it was a gift so the person who sent it really wanted us to make sure we liked it. We didn't decorate it until Thanksgiving week though. That someone made it seem better...

    We’ve had ours up since thanksgiving but we finally got around to putting the ornaments on last night. I like white lights better but DS keeps changing them to colored, lol.

    Here’s ours! I got a new angel this year and I love it, despite the fact that my boys long for a star.

    Everyone's tree looks so nice and ours looks like a hot mess. I had ornaments on it but my babies took them off. I just gave up. When my kids get older we will have a nicer tree. We have pretty lights at least. We also gotta buy a star or an angel for our topper.

  38. Mrsbells

    squash / 13199 posts

    @Ajsmommy: love the ornaments!
    @erinbaderin: such a pretty angel. We have a star but its not even a real topper its just a really large star ornament that is at the top for now.
    @cyoung: haha i think the lighta makes it look festive

    You are all so fancy. We live in the mountains, and cut a tree down on my parents property each year. We pick ones that are crowded, so they're always a little... scraggly or uneven. This is during decorating. It's a little better looking now!
