My most recent cycle was just cancelled. My day 10 ultrasound found an enlarged follicle. So they want to wait for AF to come to see if the follicle collapses on its own or if it continues to grow.

So far, I've had 2 completed IUIs (both unsuccessful) and 2 cancelled IUIs.

I'm wondering how common it is to have a cancelled cycles.

I have some crappy luck that it's happening about every other cycle. Arghhh!! Based on my trend, there's hope for me next month.

This is something new to me that I didn't realize when I started seeing a fertility specialist. I knew IUIs could be unsuccessful but I didn't realize that I could start an med cycle for an IUI and for one reason or another, not go through the IUI.

Anyway, maybe we can use this thread to be informed of any other IUI/IVF complications that can result in a cancelled IUI/IVF. Also, it could help me see the complications that could happen if we decide to pursue IVF.

My reasons for my two cancelled IUIs:
1)DH had trouble making his deposit
2)Enlarged follicle

I've heard that they might cancel an IUI/ IVF if you don't respond well on meds or if you have too many follicles. Are there any other reasons?

I do realize that this side effect of enlarged follicles might be due to the meds I'm taking (femera & HCG trigger shot). That the Femera allowed the follicle to continue to grow after it was not released. Femera is working for me and I think it's great. No horrible side effects like pain, migraines or nausea. It shortens my cycles from 33 days down to 28-29 days. Yay, a little less waiting. The HCG shot is good for me because when I used OPKs, I was having trouble getting a positive reading. A little part of me thinks it's the medical intervention that's causing some of the side effects. Though, it's a catch 22. If I don't take the meds and trigger shot, the doctor won't be able regulate my cycles and I might not be able to determine exactly when I O... and therefore my IUIs might not be as successful. Guess I just have to be prepared for the possibility of a cancelled IUIs. Cross my fingers and hope it all works out.
