@LindsayInNY: Well, we could still decide not to...but we have issues with BDing under pressure, so we don't want to miss a cycle. We'll see how we're feeling.

@sarahnicole218: Ahh, I gotcha. Makes sense too - you can decide whenever whether or not to proceed! Good luck

@kayakgirl73: Thank you I need the luck, I'm already starting to crack and analyze every little twinge! Don't you wish there was a guarantee that since we got pregnant before on injectable/IUI that it WILL happen again? I wish that was reality....

@sarahnicole218: Hugs! I'm sorry this IUI didn't work. I hope that the third time is the charm for you and your husband!

I am so excited to finally see some good news on this thread! I am crossing my fingers and praying that it continues for the rest of us.

I am struggling to maintain faith as last month my 4th IUI wasn't a success. However, I only had one egg and my progesterone level was only 11.6. So apparently I didn't ovulate very well. This month the dr increased my clomid to 150 mg and I had my IUI 1 week ago tomorrow. I am scheduled for a progesterone level in the morning and this month I had THREE eggs!!! SO.... hoping tomorrow brings good numbers!!!!

I am still ecstatic for @lindsayinny and @sweetooth

@fotolori1: Good luck on the progesterone numbers. Did they have use a trigger shot? My clinic doesn't test progesterone after the IUI.

@fotolori1: Did you decide not to do injectibles? 3 eggs is amazing! I hope this is your cycle!

Ugh I went for my ultrasound today (day 9) after Clomid and I have one follicle that's at 22mms and three others at 12 so no Bravelle shot and instead trigger tonight for IUI on Thursday. I was on track for a Saturday IUI and now I'll have to call out sick and face my awful boss's ire. I have a feeling that this is not going to bode well.

@kayakgirl73: Fitting all of this in amongst everyday life is hard sometimes. I hope your boss isn't too much of a pill. I guess your follicles were ready to get this show on the road!

I guess the follies were ready to go or at least one of them and it only takes one. Lining is also a bit behind so I'm dealing with Estrace suppositories. I had them for my first IUI 2 and half years ago that was successful. Hopefully they won't be a pill when I call out sick tomorrow. I feel bed for my co-workers but when the boss doesn't want to work with you I can't help it. I miss my former boss and the way this company used to be so bad.

@kayakgirl73: Hopefully everything worked out at work. And you're right, it only takes one! I think my only complaint about estrace on top of the progesterone is the green discharge of the combo of blue and yellow pills! Sending good thoughts your way!

Well, the injections take about 2 weeks to come in so we just did the clomid this month. 3 eggs, progesterone level was over 40. Everything was perfect, BUT.... Tuesday was day 14. Tested.... BFN!!! Still no period, but I did this last month. Started 3 days late. I am seeing my RE today to talk about options. so heartbreaking.

  24. kayakgirl73

    clementine / 750 posts

@fotolori1: I'm sorry about the BFN ? Do you think the RE will still want you to try the injectibles. Odd that they take so long to come in. Mine came quickly from a local specialty pharmacy two years ago and quickly from the insurance companies mail order pharmacy this time.

@fotolori1: Ugh, that's a pain. There isn't a way to speed up the shipping?! Sorry

  26. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@fotolori1: Hugs! I hope you're able to get some answers from your RE and that you can still try injectibles if IUI is the right method for you and your husband. I agree with @kayakgirl73, maybe you can look into some of the fertility pharmacies that ship overnight? I use Freedom Fertility pharmacy and they are fantastic. (I also secretly hope you just tested too early and this is still your cycle!)

I am starting IUI with injectibles next cycle provided that 1. I don't get pregnant this cycle (ha! ha!) 2. My hysteroscopy goes without a hitch. I am currently on cd 21 (7 DPO) and getting anxious for the end of this cycle so I can get started. Any words of advice?

  29. sweetooth

    nectarine / 2705 posts

@travellingbee: A piece of advice I received back when I started doing injectibles was to create a nice setting to do the injectibles. Clear a space on your counter, light a candle, make it relaxing. Have everything you need right there, laid out, and if you need instructions, have them close by to refer to. It might sound cheesy - or unnecessary, but I found that it did help me to get into a better place mentally while I was cycling. I think the mind plays a big part in the success of all of this.

    Lots of luck to you!

@sweetooth: Thank you! I will try that. Does it hurt a lot? I don't have a needle phobia per se but I am a little squeamish.

@sweetooth: Was this your first cycle on the injectible meds? I am so hopeful that they work for us after a cycle or 2.

I went to my RE today and he says that after 3 good cycles with clomid and IUI, that the next step will be the injectible meds, so that is where we are going next. I am going to have to order them I think because they said that from here, they are about $1500, but if we order them from England, they are only about $500, so that saves a lot of money... that's the good part... the BAD part is that we have to wait until January. Considering I should start my period any minute now, I won't have them in time to do them this month and due to the extensive Ultrasounds and monitoring, they don't start any cycles with them after December 10th because of the holidays. SO... looks like we are going to have to 2 unmedicated, good old fashioned way, months first, then in January, we start the meds. My dr did say that he sees a lot of women getting pregnant on their first cycle AFTER clomid. He said that for some reason a lot of women end up pregnant while on a "break", so I would LOVE for that to happen!

@fotolori1: I really hope that it turns out that way for you! I had to take a med free cycle break since I'd been on meds for 5 cycles, first cycle off meds, I was able to ovulate on my own. Second cycle off meds, we consulted with the RE & were deciding between IUI again or going straight to ivf. We had made our decision in regards to our next step, but luckily, we found out we were pregnant 5 days after our IVF consult/wtf appt with the RE.

@travellingbee: I didn't think it hurt too much. It takes some courage to keep poking yourself in the tummy, but overall, I don't think it's that painful.

@fotolori1: For my first little one, it was my first injectibles cycle that I got pregnant on. And for my second, I got pregnant on my second injectibles cycle. Ordering meds from England sounds kind of tricky. Sometimes in a cycle you need to alter your dosage and you need more meds quickly. Are you sure you can't use a local, US pharmacy? Have you looked online at Freedom Fertility prices? http://www.freedomfertility.com/fertility-medications/medications-and-pricing.aspx

I do hope you end up conceiving without any medications in between cycles while you wait for January.

Can I join? I am CD 2 and this is going to be my first IUI this cycle. I am kind of freaked out. We have only been trying since March-ish, but when I went to my gynecologist for my annual in September and told her what was happening, she ordered some bloodwork and SA for DH which showed some issues. She said there is no need to necessarily wait the prescribed one-year.

So, we went to meet with a RE just for a consultation to see his recommendation, etc. because our insurance covered the initial consult. He said that he suspected that with my issues (weak ovulation, luteal phase defect, low progesterone in 2nd half of cycle) and DH's issues (abnormal SA), he would recommend going to Clomid + IUI. He said we could wait 6 more months and keep trying naturally but in his opinion it may not happen.

So, last cycle they just monitored me, although they did give me a trigger shot to see what would happen. We had timed BD, it didn't work.

So now he's recommending that I start Clomid (tonight) and then IUI later this cycle.. My u/s this morning showed I have a cyst so they are checking my estrogen to see if I can proceed with the cycle.

Ahhh.... it's all so scary. And EXPENSIVE.

@kayakgirl73: How are things going? Thinking of you!

@MrsADS: Lots of luck to you! I hope that you have a great response with Clomid and it's a quick process for you. The IUI process is a lot like your annual pap. So if that procedure isn't too painful for you, then your IUI will go just fine! And yes, the whole thing is a financial, mental, physical, emotional rollercoaster. But it prepares you so well for parenthood

@sweetooth: Beta is tomorrow morning trying to decide whether to pre-test or not this time. No symptoms. No sure if we will do another IUI after this if it doesn't work or if the RE will want us to move on to IVF.

@kayakgirl73: Lots of luck to you tomorrow! I hope that no symptoms is a good sign for you and you don't even have to think about the next steps.

Do you have any pregnancy tests at home? I say, if you have some, then test. If you don't, then just let the beta tell you. (Who am I kidding - I have no willpower to just wait for a beta results phone call!!!)
