@bluestriped bee: I would just tell them you got excited! Will you have twice daily meds (my RE had me dose at night, so they could make dosing adjustments, if needed)? How did your first injections go?
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@FliegepilzHut: great ideas!! I do follistim shots in the am and menopur in the PM. I could ask if I could do half a dose today.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@bluestriped bee: Just see...they might have you do both injections as planned! I'm sure this isn't the first time they would have dealt with this!

@bluestriped bee: Congratulations on getting started, even with the small hiccup! I love your photo of all the meds! Best of luck - I bet you can't wait till your first monitoring apt!!!!

@FliegepilzHut: You're right! They want me to do tonight's menopur injections as planned. Today, the 22nd, will be the first day of injections and I'll just have to move my appointments up by one day.

@momazon: Thanks! Yup, can't wait for the first monitoring appt on Sunday! I, also, posted it on FB and IG and I'm getting ton of support so today feels like such a great day. I'm glad my tiny hiccup was resolved. I felt like such an idiot earlier today. It's all good now.

@leanne82: Welcome! Hope this cycle with the new clinic does the trick!
@jaguar: Aw, don't worry, my theory on testing early and getting a BFN is knowing that each day ahead has potential. I didn't want to wait so long to test that if it was negative I knew all hope was lost, I like hanging onto the possibility that tomorrow will be different! FX for you.
@bluestriped bee: So happy the day is finally here (even if it is a day early) hoping this process goes by quickly and painlessly for you!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: That's true! I mean, I see SOMETHING, just not a clear thing. Maybe I can hold out hope a few days later.

On my way to my SHG +/- another mock transfer!

@FliegepilzHut: Good luck with the SHG!
@bluestriped bee: Congrats on getting started. The nurse at my clinic actually told me that they get call pretty regularly from patients who start a day early because they get excited, she said not to worry if that happens just to notify them!
@jaguar: I saw your something on the other thread and wanted to let you know that I have my FX that this is your sticky baby!

@mrswin: Oh, cool, thanks. I'm not the only one.
So I started my injections yesterday and today AF showed up. I was wondering when and if AF would show. I guess I'm glad it finally did.
So what is confusing to me is my RE considers today Day 3 (I stopped BCP 3 days ago), but today is my first day of flow so my natural instinct is to consider today day 1. I'm going to follow my IVF calendar and go with day as Day 3. I'm also tracking AF on my iPeriod app and FF and I have to put weird notes to remind myself that my period was not actually on day 1. This is just a minor issue but still, I want to track my days for my first IVF cycle.
Did anyone else have this issue when they were stimming?
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@mrswin: Thanks! I got the all-clear for FET next month!
@bluestriped bee: That is confusing. I have no idea, really... As long as you have a period, I can't see how it would much matter!

I posted this on the IF update thread...
So about my IF & FB post on starting IVF. I got a ton of love and support. But then this morning, my old roommate of mine who took 7 years to get pregnant told me. 'Good luck! Don't stress too much!' That is rather annoying. Granted she didn't go through any IF treatments (like IUI or IVF) but I understand she knows how hard the waiting and all the frustration, but doesn't she know how annoying it is to hear people tell you not to stress? She has mentioned in the past that what got her pregnant was reducing her stress. It's great but not the best thing to tell someone. Just odd.

I, too, hate being told to "just relax"...as if that's going to be what gets me pregnant after all of this! On the other hand, if I let my anxiety run unchecked, I can be my own worst enemy. So during treatments, I do my absolute best to destress, so as not to make a difficult situation even worse. But no, the stress is not THE problem, it's just another, separate problem. So far so good with the injections?

@bluestriped bee: I had the day 3/day 1 confusion too. I ended up merging my charts for my BCP cycle with my stim cycle so that it would make sense. http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/mrswin

@FliegepilzHut: It's totally normal to be nervous. Just try and focus on doing what you can (i.e. making your body a good home for a LO.... sleep, exercise, relax, etc) and have faith that the rest of it will take care of itself. I know that is easier said then done but honestly the best think I did during my IVF cycle was the acupuncture/guided meditation and a low carb/low glycemic diet, these were 2 things I felt like I could control
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@mrswin: That's excellent advice. Thanks! I'm going to keep doing yoga, eating whole foods...maybe, just maybe, going back to acupuncture (although I have mixed feelings), and hope for the best! Recently I've started to question whether I would do another fresh cycle...but I guess I just need to take it one day at a time!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
Oh, the old 'just relax, don't get too stressed' crap. Why do people still do this???
I am a mix of emotions. Terrified. Overjoyed. Yargh. I'm scared of the pee sticks not darkening, or this embryo having something genetically wrong with it. We lost the last baby because of T21.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: Since yours was almost certainly a sporadic case, statistically, I would think that bodes well for this pregnancy. Will you plan to have further testing done later? FX for a healthy little one and a safe 9 months!!! Hang in there, lady!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Thanks chick. We haven't received our genetic karotype testing back yet.... that would be reassuring to know, but yeah... I'm praying it was a one off, random chromosome thing. Yep, we'll do the harmony test at 9-10 weeks for sure, IF we get that far. (I hope we do!)
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: Harmony and similar tests are so cool! I don't know whether they'll be offered to me (or whether I will have to pay out-of-pocket) because I won't be officially AMA...but I'll just have to wait and see. Sending lots of luck and sticky thoughts!!!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@FliegepilzHut: They are all out of pocket here - and take 2 weeks to come back, I believe... but after the last baby, we'll definitely be taking them.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: Definitely seems worthwhile! I will almost certainly pay, if necessary, just to have the information.

Hi ladies! I had a really nice trip to visit my best friend this week - a good break from thinking about this cycle. I've finished BCPs and have my first monitoring u/s on Tuesday to make sure everything has been suppressed adequately. Less than a month away now!
@jaguar: @FliegepilzHut: I'm also so curious about those tests. I will be AMA, but so was my sister last year and her OB never suggested she have one, so I guess I'll wait and see .
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@GreenThumb: Yay! So soon! I wonder if you could just contact your insurance company to ask (there are a few similar tests and they might prefer one)? Otherwise maybe just mention to your OB once you transfer your care! FX hard for both of us!!!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@FliegepilzHut: injections are good. I did switch from a slow poke to a faster poke when injecting the needle so it's not as painful. Also, the menopur stings! I have to inject it slow. Lastly, I asked about if it's necessary to pinch the site to inject and my nurse said no. So I'm going to stop pinching. Other than that, I have some bruising and bloating which I think is normal. I was afraid of moodiness but so far so good. I'm feeling good.
@mrswin: oh, cool. Glad I wasn't the only one confused.
@FliegepilzHut: @jaguar: yeah, I don't understand why she said it. Half tempted to send her to the resolve's IF etiquette page. I won't, though.
@GreenThumb: Glad you had a good break and will be starting up your cycle soon!
As for me, I went in for the first monitoring (day 6) today. I got 10 follicles on the right and 5 on left! Woohoo looking good! I'm going to go I tomorrow and Wednesday for another monitoring appt. Will my ER be the end of this week or early next? Eeek! Excited!
Oh, I saw my accupunturist last Wednesday and will see her tomorrow and Thursday. I'm hoping the accupunture helped me respond well.
