@shutterbug: @FliegepilzHut: @greenthumb: @momazon: @purplepumps: @mrswin: thank you all for your replies! i wish my re had a certain set of guidelines on what to do depending on how many embryos you have. unfortunately, even last time with 1 embryo, she left it up to me. how am i supposed to know what to do when she's the expert?! anyway, i didn't have a chance to talk to her yet (just received a voicemail from her yesterday), but after seeing your responses and also after speaking with my acupuncturist, i'm pretty sure i will go for a 3 day transfer. i was so set on a single embryo transfer, but i think i will transfer both unless either my re or the embryologist strongly recommend letting the 2nd one grow to freeze.
i'm trying to feel more optimistic about this transfer, even though i'm doing a 3dt like last time. i'm doing acupuncture this time, i'm gonna transfer 2 this time (praying both of them are still there tomorrow morning)..as long as all the stars are aligned, i'm hoping this will be our month. i SO want it to be our month

@mama2em: good luck! I agree it's weird she's leaving it up to u.... Agree w everyone else, I'd do a 3-day transfer.
I really am curious how my docs decided three day rather than five. I was transferring two and I had 6 to freeze, but they wanted me at three day....

@mrswin: I know! The last 5 months or so have gone really fast! Thanks for the good thoughts!
@mama2em: FX hard for a great transfer tomorrow!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@mama2em: Wow, that is odd to me that they would leave it up to you. My RE says that she doesn't even decide, and that the embryologist is the one that makes the call on when and which ones are best. Good luck with the transfer!

@mrswin: we only had 2 out of ten eggs fertilize last ivf cycle so our doc recommended PGD. Their success rates with a normal embryo at transfer are really good!

@leanne82: Good luck with your cycle! Are they doing anything else different? Did you do ICSI previously?
coffee bean / 34 posts
@FliegepilzHut: we did icsi last time. This time they have me on a steroid and I did 2 months of the pill. I'm also doing a higher dose of menopur...things I didn't do last time. I'm also taking bravelle instead if gonal f. We shall see!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@leanne82: Everything crossed for you! What did your RE speculate caused the low fertilization rate?
coffee bean / 34 posts
@FliegepilzHut: we are at a new re now. But our last one said the answer is there is no answer. Which is crap. Our new re now thinks I may have triggered too soon as I didn't have many follicles over 16 mm. This new re is already exceeding my expectations so I honestly feel we will get better results this time.

@leanne82: I'm so glad! That sounds very promising! Sending lots of good thoughts!

Transfer all done and I'm home relaxing for the afternoon. I think we have a great chance this time- both embryos looked good and one was already hatching. Fx!

Just popping in... I'm feeling a little bit better but I'm trying to not think about TTC and concentrating on the holidays and other non-IF/TTC related. So I'm probably not going to post on these threads for a little while. I should be back in Jan. I'm so sorry that I won't be able to catch up on everyone's updates or news. Just know that I'm thinking of each one of you!!

@momazon: So happy for you!! That's great news!!
@bluestriped bee: Wishing you very happy holidays! I'll be thinking of you, too!
@mrswin: @tequiero21: Thank you!

@bluestriped bee: It's completely understandable. I hope you enjoy the holidays and I'll be thinking of you!

hi there, my transfer is all done too! i'm right there with you @momazon. i had 2 embryos put back- an 8 cell and a 6 cell. my re said she thinks at least 1 embryo would have made it to 5 day, but she was ok with doing a 3 day transfer. then she says that she hasn't done a lot of 3 day transfers recently, only if the patient requests it, and that she hasn't done a multiple embryo transfer in a while too. is this suppose to make me feel better?! ugh, i feel like i'm so out of the norm, but just gotta think positive and hope for the best.
@FLIEGEPILZHUT: fingers crossed that everything goes well for your transfer this week!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@mama2em: that's interesting about your RE not doing many 3 day or multiple embyro transfers lately. I suppose the two sort of go hand in hand though (I think eSETs are more common on day 5). Do you mind me asking where you live? I know here (I'm in Massachusetts) we have mandated IF insurance coverage, so eSETs are very common, since people don't have to worry as much about the financial aspect of it. Fingers crossed that you're successful!
@momazon: hatching!! That's such a good sign. Did they give you a pic? I'm so hopeful for you!

@mama2em: Thank you! I'm glad to hear that your transfer went well. Stick LO's, stick!!! (BTW: what a strange conversation that must have been...)

@Shutterbug: I hope it's a good sign! She gave me a pic but I don't see what she's talking about. Maybe just a bit about to come out of the top, but when she said one was already hatching I expected something more dramatic!

@mama2em: sending tons of positive thoughts in your direction! glad everything went smoothly!

@Shutterbug: I live in Southern California. No if coverage @fliegepilzhut: right?!! I mean, what am I supposed to say? i feel like re's should focus on the positive rather than saying things that are inappropriate in the given situation. Sometimes I feel like doctors are such robots...@momazon: fx for you!! Hopeful all of us will have some great news soon!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@mama2em: Yeah, just bizarre... I have FX for great news for all of us in a few short weeks! When will your beta be?
grape / 91 posts
@FliegepilzHut: it will be 12/5! Seems like an eternity away...
Since Im fairly new to these boards, I was wondering if there have been lots of ladies on here that have had success with a 3 day transfer. I'm disappointed I didn't make it to a 5 day transfer again...I need to get over it since it's all done and over with, but I always over analyze everything...!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@mama2em: I know at least 1 in the last few months! (You could always start a thread to ask...). I think your chances are quite good! My clinic only pushes to a Day#5 transfer if there are lots of contenders and no clear "winners" on Day#3! We'll be testing close to the same time (though my beta might be a few days earlier).

@mama2em: I had a successful day 3 transfer. Put in two and now I have 2.5 yo bg twins. Good luck!!!
grape / 91 posts
@FliegepilzHut: thanks for your thoughts! So hard not to compare myself to others but I just have to sit tight and hope for the best!
@tequiero21: that's wonderful! If I were to have twins, b/g sounds like so much fun. Thanks for your response too, love hearing success stories

Wow so much exciting stuff going on in the week I have been away!
@mama2em: @momazon: @greenthumb- Hoping all your little ones are settling in nicely and looking forward to seeing some double lines on your tests soon!!
@FliegepilzHut: I think your transfer is this week too right? Wishing you all the best!
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving with friends and family! Will check in later on to see how many babies are baking

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Tomorrow @12:30! I've been told that both embryos survived the defrosting, so FX!

@FliegepilzHut: Thinking of you! So glad to hear good news about the thaw and hoping the very best for you tomorrow!!
@mama2em: @momazon: So glad that everything went well for you both! There will be a lot of betas next week! Glad we have Thanksgiving for a distraction!!
@Mrs.Pinecone316: Thank you!! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Hope you are well!!
I know that PIO can give you cramps, but I'm definitely picturing a lot of embie snuggling going on! Been feeling really crampy and bloated since day after transfer. And saw a pinprick of blood this morning… implantation maybe?! Feeling really positive about this cycle!!
pear / 1986 posts
@mama2em: Totally feel you on the docs are robots thing… mine has the most detatched bedside manner, and this is after transfer #4 now. You would think the guy could at least make some general conversation after he's been all up in my business . But the results are all the matter in the end!!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@GreenThumb: Yay!!! Those all sound like wonderful signs! I will update post-transfer!

@FliegepilzHut: Yay! So glad both survived the thaw!!!! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - wishing you all the best for a smooth transfer!!! @Mrs.Pinecone316: thank you for the support! Happy Thanksgiving!
@GreenThumb: Sounds promising so far! And yes, I'm so glad we have Tgiving as a distraction! Should make the next week much easier... Plus I'm going to pull out my Christmas decorations this weekend and get it all sparkly and pretty in here early this year, to help me keep my mind off it!

@FliegepilzHut: Good luck today. I am very hopeful that this is going to be your cycle!
@momazon: Yay for Christmas decorations, this is my favourite time of the year. Congrats on your transfer and its great that one was already hatching. This website has awesome photos of embryos and blasts by day and stage http://www.advancedfertility.com/blastocystimages.htm

@GreenThumb: I think everything you are feeling sounds promising. Hilarious about your RE's bedside manner, I think it must be a pre-requisite of the job
@mama2em: Your RE sounds...interesting and what she said was definitely weird. Sounds like the embryos you put back were looking good. FX for a and a sticky baby for you
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@Mrs.Pinecone316: @mama2em: @Shutterbug: @momazon: @mrswin: Thank you all for the good thoughts! My transfer went really smoothly...with the caveat that they were running about 1/2 hour late, so my bladder was REALLY full! We transferred two hatching blasts (they were assisted) and hopefully they are snuggling in on this beautiful snowy day!
ETA: My beta is scheduled for 12/8!
