@bluestriped bee: Yay! Glad the lining check was good and you're all set to go still for the 28th! Thanks for cross-posting here- I like my little safe bubble of a home here on the IVF thread right now and am glad I can still get the BSB gossip. Will you be having another acupuncture session around transfer day, or what does your acupuncturist recommend? Only a few more days till they're getting cozy in their new home!

@momazon: thank you! I do like posting about IVF in this thread. Wasn't sure if everyone was checking one or both.
@FliegepilzHut: @GreenThumb: thanks!!
So last night's medicine and shots started off on the wrong foot.
So PIO last night was okay, not great. First, I had to take all my pills. The medrol is gross. You taste it and I almost threw up trying to swallow 2 pills. Oh, I take dexamethasone too but I'm used to that one. I started out taking dex with milk, then chocolate milk, then wrapping it on fruit roll up and now I take it with apple sauce. Medrol (methyl prednisone is a larger pill and I only had to take two pills last night but I will have to start taking 4 a day! (My gag reflex is starting just thinking about it.) I grabbed nearly everything from my fridge to get the taste out of my mouth. Oranges, sliced peaches, crackers with spreadable cheese, chocolate milk. The oranges seemed to help towards the end but not sure if it was the other 10 or so foods I crammed down my mouth. If I swallowed, I could still taste the meds. This is bad. I'm going to have to call my RE and see if they can call in a coated medication.
Then after 30 mins of eating random foods, I got started with my injections. My 0.5 ml delestrogen shot went fine. Then for my 1.0 ml PIO, I inserted the needle. Immediately removed it because I thought I was in wrong spot. Injection spot started bleeding. Had to get that covered. Turns out I was in the right spot. I just panicked. Injected again with new needle. I haven't been sore after the delestrogen but I could definitely feel it with the PIO. Still sore now and I put a heating pad on it just like I've been doing for delestrogen.
Yeah rough start to new meds and shots.

@bluestriped bee: That sounds rough. Take your time with the PIO and they should get easier and easier. FX so hard for you!!!!

@bluestriped bee: Yuck, I get what you're saying, as my prednisolone pill was nasty like that. I had to throw it to the back of my mouth and swallow really fast, as if it got wet or sit there on my tongue at all while i was going to sip water it would taste horrible! Yours sounds even worse!
I'm sorry about all the trouble with the PIO. You're brave and skilled to inject it on your own- I don't know if I could bend that way!

@FliegepilzHut: Thanks. Not really looking forward to my pills and shot tonight. Butt is still sore.
@momazon: Thanks. I was funny calling my RE. I'm not complaining about the shot (yet) but I'm calling about a gross pill! Haha.
So I did 1ml PIO last night. I need to up it to 2ml tonight. Is that 1ml on each side or 2 ml on one side?
kiwi / 613 posts
@bluestriped bee: 2ml seems like a ton to inject in one spot, so I'd probably split it up. But I'm not the expert, I've only done PIO for one cycle and I think it was only 1 ml the whole time.

@bluestriped bee: Just think, it's all for a good cause! xx
my first BT showed low hormone levels... so the gonal-f isn't working yet. bit nervous. another BT tomorrow.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@momazon: ok, I broke it up into two shots. So today's shots and pills went so much better. Got the pills, I tried pudding alone, yogurt alone and root beer (not all together but one for each pill. For the medrol, I wrapped it up in fruit roll up and swallowed the pill with yogurt or root beer. (Mrs. Jacks suggested root beer. Oh, I didn't dare try medrol with just root beer and not fruit rollup. Maybe I'll work up to courage to try that one of these days.) It was a sucess. I did dry heave once but it was all in my head. I couldn't taste the medrol at all. The pudding was weird to swallow and plus too thin. The Greek yogurt was think enough to swallow ok. Woohoo sucess!
Now onto the shots. I've been sure from that one ml PIO shot yesterday. Was not looking forward to tonight's shot. Today, I decided to look up some videos on PIO shots. Considered doing the thigh but not sure if my RE would approve. I think some RE's only want you to do the hip. Any way found a video that someone here suggested. I watched it for the first time today and I think my shot yesterday was too far into the butt area (upper right butt area) and not into the hip area. The video said that people who complain of soreness is doing it too low where the butt muscle is used more often.
Well, today's shot in the hip area seems to fell much better. It's been about 30 minutes and it's feeling good. Let's see how I feel tomorrow.
Oh this was the video that helped me feel a little bit more comfortable with tonight's shots.

@jaguar: today's pill and shots went much better. So glad. It might not be so bad after all. Thanks!! I really hope this works!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@bluestriped bee: So glad it went better! You are totally right about butt vs. hip. Everyone thinks IM is in the butt, but you have to picture it in your hip to get it right. And I think I did 2ml since I used a 10ml vial and had to get a new one every 5 injections, and just did it all at once.

@bluestriped bee: I'm so glad things were better last night! Wednesday is almost here!!!

@bluestriped bee: I recognize that lady! Those videos are so helpful. Glad to hear things are getting easier with the pills and injections. Just a few days left till transfer!!
I feel like such a wussy for barely being able to do my Lupron injection the other day now. lol. It probably took me like 2 minutes to work up to finally doing it.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@spaniellove: Yeah, so I'm not sore from yesterday's shot. I'm still sore from my first shot.
Yeah, gotta think hip injections and not butt.
Oh, good to know you can do 2ml at one location. I'll try that tonight. Less pokes will be helpful.
@FliegepilzHut: @PurplePumps: yeah, definitely looking forward to the transfer now that my pills and shots are going better now. Yeah, these IM shots are definitely different than the SQ shots I had for stims for my ER. But I'm glad that last nights injection went well. I was really concerned that I would be really sore. Especially since PIO will have to continue until the beta and if I get the BFP, I think these injections will continue until the 1st trimester. It's okay. Eye on the prize to get finally pregnant. I'll do whatever it takes.

@bluestriped bee: Glad the video helped and that last night's shots and pills went smoother! Good luck with the single larger shot tonight. Remind me, are you still doing the Delestrogen as well?
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@momazon: Thanks. Oh, no, I stopped delestrogen on Friday. It was the first day of PIO, too.

Not great for us & this FET so far...
E2 levels still low (after 7 days of stims) and no signs of ovulation. I have to up my dose of Gonal-F from 50 to 75 for the next few days, and more bloods on Thursday. Worried we won't make this transfer before our holiday.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@jaguar: Sending lots and lots of positive thoughts your well to get your E2 levels up! I was on Follistim (similar to Gonal-F) at 75 for most of my stims. When does your holiday start? Really hope you get to transfer before you leave!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@jaguar: I have to ask...do you think your RE would ever consider doing a medicated transfer instead? Or is that not possible? FX hard that you get to transfer soon!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@bluestriped bee: Feb 11! So we'd need to ovulate at least 6-7 days before that to get a transfer in.
@FliegepilzHut: I already asked... and she did the Gonal-F cycle instead. I don't know that they're big on using HRT cycles for FET at my clinic.

I'm not sure if it's all the meds I'm taking but I've been incredibly tired in the mornings. Like can't stay awake for AM meetings. Then in the afternoon, I'm fine, but today is the second day where my face is very warm. I'm not hot but my face is very warm. I'm always cold so I sorta like it, but it's weird because it's so weird to feel my warm cheeks. Oh, I think my forehead temp is fine.
But it usually goes away by the time I get home from work.
Did anyone have these types of symptoms? I'm taking metformin, dexamethsone, medrol, azithromycin, prenatals, estrace, PIO, CoQ10, (I think those are all the meds I'm taking... haha)
Weird. Transfer tomorrow and I'll be at home for the next two days. Woohoo! Baby me! LOL!

@bluestriped bee: ACK - all those crazy hormones probably taking their toll!! Can't wait to hear good news of your transfer tomorrow!!
@jaguar: Really hoping things kick into gear for you so you can transfer!!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@GreenThumb: I haven't been moody so I guess I'll take these crazy side effects. I'm still at work and functional (well, other than falling asleep in a meeting)... though not exactly focused because I keep coming on here. Haha.
kiwi / 613 posts
@bluestriped bee: The PIO (or any progesterone, really) made me SUPER sleepy. I don't specifically remember being warm during the day, but I would be quite hot at night, sort of like hot flashes while sleeping.
Best wishes for an awesome day tomorrow! Don't get too freaked out if your embryo photos aren't the prettiest - thawed frozen ones can often look different from fresh ones just because of the nature of the freezing/thawing process. I didn't know that before my FET and I thought something was wrong with them at first!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@momazon: Oh, I didn't have a fresh cycle so I have never seen pictures before... well, just ones I've seen online.
Thank you!
kiwi / 613 posts
@bluestriped bee: I just didn't want you to think something was wrong with yours if they didn't look exactly like the fresh ones from online. (I know it freaked me out at first, because I'd never seen frozen ones online and didn't realize they'd be a bit different.)
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@momazon: oh, I get ya. So the pictures I see online might be from fresh cycles. Good to know. I'll need to remember that tomorrow. Thanks.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@bluestriped bee: Good luck tomorrow! And YES to what @momazon: mentioned re: thawed embies. My last frosty looked like a hot mess, hahaha.

@bluestriped bee: stopping by to wish you all the luck in the world tomorrow! Hope everything goes smoothly and you enjoy your couple days of rest and being taken care of. Here's to being PUPO!!!
