We received another update on our donor today. She has 15 follicles on one side and 14 on the other. Her biggest follicle is 17mm. She has another appointment tomorrow to see how she's progressing. It's looking like Thursday or Friday will be her retrieval. I'm getting more and more anxious as we get closer, but I'm trying to hope for the best.

@momazon: thanks!! I know, my next worry is OHSS! I keep bringing up all the "what if" scenarios in my head.
Hope you are feeling well! Were you able to freeze any embryos from your last cycle?
kiwi / 613 posts
@winter_wonder: thanks! Feeling great so far, things are going well with no bleeding, etc. I'll be six weeks on Thursday and have my first OB ultrasound on Friday! Fingers crossed!
Yes, we got three frozen embryos this round! Our donor had a very productive cycle!

Well ladies...Thank you all so much for your well wishes and support the past year! I think I'm going to be signing off of here for a little bit though. Coming on the front page here and just seeing all these baby threads is just getting to be too much for me. I've joined the resolve/inspire board centered completely around infertility and sadly feel more at home in those threads. If any of you ladies are there or end up there too I'm easy to find (same name!)
I have another week to go before my beta, but I'm just not optimistic and have made an appointment for a phone consult with MCRM, and will be making appointments Boston IVF and IVF NE, as well as CCRM for July after my beta. In the case my beta turns out positive, I can cancel them all, but I just want to have them all as back up.
Our plan will be to run every test under the sun on me to see if there could be *anything* causing this maturity/quality issue, or maybe just the protocol, i don't know and see what other suggestions these clinics have. And assuming they all have a suggestion for path forward, unless these other 3 clinics wow me though, based on what I have read online and others experiences, we will likely have another go with CCRM first thing next year (after I switch insurance and reset my infertility coverage again).
I may pop back in once in a while, but for now..... Best of luck to all of you!!

@winter_wonder: What a great response! I hope she has a great retrieval on Thursday and you have lots of strong eggs to choose from!
@PurplePumps: I understand - whenever I log onto this site, I pretty much click immediately on the infertility link for the same reason. I hope that you don't need to go to any of these appointments because your little success story is already growing inside of you.

@PurplePumps: I completely understand some of the threads are really hard to see.
I'm still hoping this cycle works out for you or you're able to get some answers soon.
@bloved: thank you so much!

@PurplePumps: I totally understand wanting to get another opinion. I see you're in MA. I switched to an amazing doctor and got very drastic results. Wall me if you want to chat about clinics and doctors in MA.

@PurplePumps: I totally get that. Wishing you all the best in the coming months!

Ugh, had my first bout with some bleeding today after work. It was red, and has stopped now, but I'm still nervous as bleeding has never ended well for me in my three previous pregnancies. Why does this have to be so hard and scary? I'm only 6 weeks tomorrow.
persimmon / 1479 posts
@momazon: oh no I'm glad it stopped. Did they ask you to come in or anything? I hope everything is fine
persimmon / 1114 posts
@momazon: ugh that is so scary. So glad it stopped. When is your first scan?
kiwi / 613 posts
@winter_wonder: @bloved: Thanks for the good wishes! I'm trying not to freak myself out. I didn't call my doc's office or anything yet, since it wasn't a huge amount of blood like it was when I lost my pregnancies before. Hopefully this was just some harmless spotting and it won't progress throughout the night. Fingers crossed! My first scan is Friday.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@momazon: Spotting is always scary. FWIW-- I only spotted during this healthy pregnancy. FX hard for a good ultrasound on Friday!

Donor had her retrieval this morning. 14 eggs retrieved, but only 10 of those qualify for insemination. I know this is going to sound really ungrateful, but I'm sad there aren't more since we did a 1:1 with our donor
I know I'm obviously jumping so far ahead, but it scares me that we may not get as many chances as I was hoping for. Her numbers are also low compared to her last cycle with same protocol at the same clinic We find out the fertilization report tomorrow.
persimmon / 1114 posts
@winter_wonder: I definitely understand having a retrieval not live up to your expectations, but 10 is really good. Are they doing icsi? Fingers crossed for a good fertilization report for you.
persimmon / 1479 posts
@bloved: no, just the standard technique. Thank you I will update tomorrow.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@winter_wonder: chin up, more is not always better. Hopefully you have 10 really good quality eggs there! FX for your fert report!
kiwi / 613 posts
@winter_wonder: Wishing you lots of good luck over the next few days! Hopefully the eggs will be great quality & you'll get several nice blastocysts out of this cycle! Out of our 7 mature eggs from our donor, 6 of them fertilized and we transferred one and ended up with 3 frozen - hopefully you'll get ultra-lucky like us. I'm surprised they're not automatically doing ICSI - that's standard on all my donor cycles (but maybe it's because I am part of the shared program?) Are you just planning on transferring one at a time?
persimmon / 1479 posts
@Shutterbug: Thank you, I'm probably just being overly pessimistic right now!
@mamazon: Thanks! Our clinic's procedure is to only transfer one (if intended mom is <37 and the embryo is rated as good or excellent). We can transfer 2 if there are no embryos that are ranked as good or excellent. The doctor mentioned that since dh's sperm has looked okay the last few times they won't plan to do icsi. I really, really, really hope we get some to freeze too.
I hope your scan goes well tomorrow!

@momazon: it would call the doctor. When I spotted, they wanted to see me. Hope it's nothing!

@winter_wonder: FX for a great fertilization report!
@momazon: Thinking of you this morning!

Had our first OB ultrasound this morning, and we got to see a tiny little baby with a little flickering heartbeat! I still don't quite believe it, but we're feeling so excited! I was so nervous that we'd get there today and see nothing.
