@agold: Go to the concert! Some people feel uncomfortable before their ER, but if you are in that boat and feeling unwell you can always call it a night early. I felt fine before mine. And curious, who are you going to see?
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@YogiRunner: Thanks for the input. I asked this here because my mom thinks I need to be on bed rest and wrapped in bubble wrap starting now. I didn't think there was any problem with going to the concert. Its Dave Matthews Band at an outdoor venue. We were randomly given great tickets by my husband's brother and I hate to pass up on fun times like that.

Just got the call - 15 / 19 fertilised. We'll lose a lot between now and Friday (we always do) but yeah.. not all lost I guess.

@agold: how fun! I will have the same dilemma in October if our IVF cycle is then. We have Matt Nathanson tickets to an acoustic show where there were only 300 tickets (and sold out in 1 minute!), so I will be SO upset if I cannot go!
I'm lightly spotting, but took a progesterone anyway. I'll see what the next day brings..

@jaguar: That's great, but I understand how difficult it must be to have hope right now considering what has happened in the past. I'll keep you in my thoughts regarding the upcoming fertilization updates..
persimmon / 1114 posts
@jaguar: that's a great fertilization report! Hopefully they continue to grow and one of those is your next little guy or girl!
persimmon / 1132 posts
@YogiRunner: Wowsa! Super beta! Enjoy and congrats! How are you feeling?
@jaguar: Despite the freeze-all, that is a seriously great fertilization report. Really hoping the days move quickly. How long until they can do a FET? When does the ohss risk decrease?
@NorthStar: Sorry about the BFN and the possible wait until AF. That is the worst part of the 2ww, imo.... when you just want it to start and move on. However, the optimist in me still hopes you get a late implanting miracle BFP!
@agold: Hey, all of my meds arrive tomorrow. I have a baseline us and labs on Friday and, if everything looks good, I start Lupron on Sunday. Which meds are you injecting yourself with to start?
@AmeliaBedilia: FX-ed that all goes well for your IUI.

@Amorini: I need to get a period from this cycle, then a cycle on the pill, then a medicated HRT FET prob in November.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@jaguar: oh geesh. That is quite awhile and it's just the kind of drawn-out waiting that super sucks. I hope you get some embie photos or some wonderful symbol to keep it all in perspective. Your LO#2 is out there!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@agold: definitly go! I felt perfectly fine leading up to ER. Even after ER I was OK and up on a ladder outside painting the house a few hours later after a nap!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: The small acoustic concert sounds amazing! I only know one of his songs, but I bet he will give a great performance. And I'm sorry about your spotting. Are you unexplained IF?
@jaguar: That's great you have 15 to work with. I'm so very sorry you have all these delays now. Alls well that ends well, and I'm really hoping for a good ending for you with this IVF round.
@Amorini: My medications arrive tomorrow also!! Woo hoo! I will start follistim, lupron, and menopur on thursday. After three days, I stop the lupron and continue on with the other two and have ultrasounds at least every other day. I have to mix the menopur myself! Yikes!

@PurplePumps: Oh my goodness! You are an IVF warrior! That's awesome and inspiring to hear you felt so good.

@PurplePumps: Rockstar! I'm 24 hours after retrieval and feel surprisingly pumped today.. chasing after my little one & feeling good! You just never know how you're going to be before/after!

@Amorini:@agold I think we'll be on similar schedules :). My meds come tomorrow, baseline US on Thurs and then shots start on Saturday.
Besides the shots I'm kind of nervous about the limited activity part of the stims. I have a 3 1/2 year old and even though he can do most things for himself, not being able to lift him or pick him up for a few weeks is going to be really hard. I keep thinking laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping- all that stuff is going to be out. For those of you that have done this before- am I being overly cautious or do you really have to do nothing? I feel like I'm going to forget what I can't do.
persimmon / 1114 posts
@dookie32: I think it really depends on the clinic. My old clinic was very much into the bedrest/no strenuous activity/etc. The clinic I am with now wants you to get back into normal life asap. I had no bed rest and no limitations other than strenuous exercise. They only had me abstain from picking up my toddler the day of the retrieval and the day afterwards. It made me very nervous not to have the restrictions, but it was also nice to resume normal life.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@dookie32: During stims, I'm always fine chasing my toddler. After retrieval is a bit hard though.

@agold: yeah, this would be the 6 or 7th time we have seen him. lol. he just puts on a fabulous concert and is hilarious Yes, unexplained secondary infertility. We have a daughter who turned 3 in June. This was our last IUI before proceeding to IVF. I think that it's a bust. I'm having spotting and I think AF is coming, but the progesterone is drawing it out..

@NorthStar: Big hugs!
Ultrasound today showed a 20mm follicle and a 22mm follicle- yea! This is a mess schedule-wise. We are both off Friday and were hoping it would be then, but can't wait that long. DH can't do Thursday, so the plan is to trigger when I get home from work, IUI tomorrow morning. This means I will be late to a group meeting with my boss,DH might not be able to stay fortune actual IUI, and ovulating early means I will probably miss next month since I will be out of town during my fertile window. On the upside, he did use the words "beautiful" and"perfect" during the ultrasound. Two follicles means 5-10% chance of twins.
clementine / 849 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Exciting! For what it's worth, DH was never with me during the actual IUI. It takes less than 5 minutes and isn't very exciting, but I can understand wanting to be around for it. Timing is very important when it comes to triggering and IUIs, so if I were in your shoes if do everything within reason to make the timing ideal as possible. My 2nd IUI meant missing my bestie's wedding rehearsal, but we definitely thought it was worth it. Just my 2 cents which you can take or leave Best of luck!
nectarine / 2192 posts
@YogiRunner: thanks. He said studies show the same pregnancy rates anywhere from 12-36 hours after trigger. Ours will be about 14-15. My plan is to BD tomorrow night and Thursday night, and we BD last night as well. So hoping for the best.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: How exciting for your IUI to be tomorrow! I second @YogiRunner: 's advice. You've spent so much on this IUI and its clearly somthing that is important to you. Try not to worry about missing a meeting at work. Also, its not important at all that your husband be there so don't worry about that either. Its great you have two great embryos!
ETA: Opps. Not embryos. Eggs. Sorry, I'm IVF-minded.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: If you find a singer you love, I totally understand going to see him multiple times. And I'm so sorry about your secondary infertility. I can imagine how crushing that is to deal with. I'm wish all the best for you with getting your second baby.
nectarine / 2192 posts
@agold: Thanks, lol. Maybe that's a sign we will get two great embryos. Since I got the low AMH news, I've been worried about how I would respond to IVF meds, but if my follicle count is about 15 and I have a great response to femara each time, is that a sign I should get enough eggs?
persimmon / 1114 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: that's great news that you have two follies and they are good size. fingers crossed this is it for you!!
Afm I had my appt today. Baby measured 6w1d and they could see heartbeat but it was too small to measure. I casually asked if I needed the rhogam shot since I am Rh- and thank goodness I did because the nurse was vehement I need it by today (although she never mentioned it!). Had to head to the hospital an hour away and missing time in my classroom but all worth it if this baby can continue to grow and develop!!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I think all of that does indicate that you should get a good amount of eggs!
@bloved: Phew! Its so great to hear that the baby is doing well! Seeing the heartbeat is great!! And good for you about asking for the shot. Gees. Can you imagine how less reformed people are able to manage? And no worries about your classroom! Students love a sub!
AFM - my medicines just got delivered to my work because I needed to sign for them. OH WOW. The box is in NO way discrete. Gees, pharmacy. Thanks for blasting my news on the box.
pear / 1881 posts
@agold: oh my gosh! What pharmacy did you use? That is my fear whenever we are at that point! With Freedom Pharmacy, at least it wasn't clear where it came from!

Hi! I've taken an HB break since we weren't really doing much on the IF front. But, we just met with a new RE yesterday and are actually excited about moving forward again with a fresh cycle. DH is going to try and lobby his HR to add a rider to our insurance covering IF treatment - since we are in MA (state mandate), even though his company HQ is in Colorado (no mandate). And if that doesn't work, we are just going to suck it up and take a loan from my parents to pay for a cycle. Doc did AFC while were were there and there were 27 (yay!!). They decide protocol based on a committee consensus, but he said that he might recommend a long Lupron protocol rather than antagonist (I got OHSS with this last time). Anyhow, I'm excited!! Meeting with a hematologist at the end of the month to see if autoimmune issues are going to impact our cycle (but RE thinks it is minor). I'll have an endometrial biopsy during my next cycle just to rule out any inflammatory problems, and then on to my protocol!! Feeling really hopeful for a transfer by the end of 2015.
@jaguar: Really hopeful for you! Fingers crossed that Friday brings a lot of good news (and embryos)!!
@bloved: @YogiRunner: Congratulations!! I'm so happy to see some on this thread because it helps keep us all hopeful!!
@agold: Oops on that med delivery spilling the news! Hopefully not too many people saw it !
persimmon / 1114 posts
@agold: that's terrible!! I feel like you should say something to the pharmacy since so many people get meds delivered to their work!
@GreenThumb: so glad you are excited for new dr and protocol! Fingers crossed your husband's work can add that rider- that would be huge! I've also heard that an endometrial biopsy before your transfer increases the likihood of success so hopefully that is true for you!!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: I used MDR pharmacy from. Its a GIANT box with a big blue label that says "refrigerated items OPEN IMMEDIATELY." The box is seriously the most giant box I could ever imagine medicines being shipped in.
@GreenThumb: Thankfully only two, not very gossipy, ladies saw. I don't know the different between a long Lupron protocol rather than antagonist. I don't even know what kind of protocol I am on. I'm hopeful for a transfer for you as well by the end of this year!!
@bloved: Thanks for the thought. I'm absolutely going to call them and tell them to be more discrete with their boxes.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@agold: Yikes!! I'd be pretty peeved about that! I used CVS Specialty (not buy choice, they are expensive), but they were very discrete and allowed me the option to just leave it without signature.
@GreenThumb: That's great that you guys have plan! I hope it works out with the insurance. It sucks that there are still loop holes here that they can go through to not provide coverage. If you don't mind my asking, which clinic are you going to here in MA?
persimmon / 1132 posts
@agold: Ugh! Sorry about the box announcing your IVF treatment to the world (or just to the gossipy ladies.) What did you think when you opened the box?
ETA: oh, I see now that the two ladies were not too gossipy. Phew.
@dookie32: Did you box arrive in a more subtle manner? What do you think of it all?
AFM, the box arrived at DH's workplace by design. He is really upfront with all of his co-workers about MFI and IVF. I'm the total opposite. Fortunately our professional worlds are very far apart! That said, the box was a big cooler that he just put in the kitchen fridge and apparently it didn't have anything outside the box to indicate what it was. He arrived home before me and put everything in the fridge. I kind of freaked out because our fridge runs cold even on the low setting and freezes stuff sometimes. I remember PurplePumps or jaguar had this happen once, right? I tried to find the least likely place for the stims to not freeze -- on the door, I'm thinking. Oh and I took out all the other meds stuff that doesn't need to be refrigerated.
Anyway, after it's all said and done, I feel rather terrified right now. I'm not feeling excited and I'm finding it hard to be hopeful about my 40% statistical chance. It was a hard day at work, so maybe I'm just extra tired and emotional. Tomorrow I start acupuncture so maybe that will help.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@GreenThumb: FX-ed that the insurance works out, but it's great that you have a backup. I like the idea of a committee of REs discussing the best course of action. The more brains, the better! You sound excited and ready to go, which is the best possible way to feel after seeing the RE!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Amorini: lol, yup! That was me with the freezing deli draw. Luckily the pen never actually froze though!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Amorini: I was pretty overwhelmed by the size of the box of meds alone. Then, when I opened it up at home, I thought I might pass out. Too. Many. Needles. Period. I put the follistim in the fridge, and kept the rest of everthing in the box. I don't even have room in my kitchen to set this all up in an orderly manner. I'm going to ignore it all until tomorrow night when I will start with three shots each night. I think its going to take me an hour to do these shots each night. Oy vey.

Eeeek! Just scheduled my IVF cycle. Starting Lupron on 10/20, stims on 10/30, estimated egg retrieval on 11/11 and embryo transfer on 11/16. I could have started 2 weeks earlier, but my work schedule is super hectic and I have some out of town work end of October, so it would have been very stressful. This will be so much more manageable..
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@NorthStar: That's all sounding great! You will be starting in no time. I'm so sorry you have to move on to IVF, but you have a great attitude about it. Really, it is what it is. No glum feelings are going to change it. I'm excited for you! Do you plan to do anything to prepare for starting IVF? (I planned, but did nothing. ha!)
