@Aqualov: Sounds like they have you on turbo. So hoping for some good news for you at your appointment tomorrow!
IVFpharmacy.com shipping update: I ordered Thursday, received a tracking number Sunday and the package arrived today (Wednesday). Less than a week! Impressive!
Thinking about all you ladies!

Hi ladies! I haven't been posting much as of late (nothing much to tell) but I've been keeping up with everyone. FET #2 is tomorrow- it feels like the percentages have been in our favor so far this year on the board so I'm trying to be optimistic . Even though my dr hasn't pushed bedrest after transfer I decided to take take Friday off and plan to rest and chill out as much as possible- something I didn't really do last time. Who knows if it will help or not- it all feels like a crapshoot at this point. Fingers crossed!

Ok, I know I said I would stop... but dudes, I couldn't help myself. No FR test but 12dpo ... do I dare wish this might work?

@dookie32: Good luck tomorrow!!! My clinic does transfer and you're up and outta there, no rest at all. It's crazy. xx
persimmon / 1132 posts
@dookie32: Wishing you so much luck! My transfer was also on a Thursday and I was super lazy ("couch rest") until Sunday. Then I started moving around more (groceries, dog-walking), but in slow motion. I know there's so many different theories on this. Just follow your instinct!
Oh, @jaguar: oh my!!!!! No more tricky lines to read. That one says it all. Congrats! FX so hard that Olaf sticks!!

@jaguar: Olaf!!!! Congratulations girl!!!!! That's definitely positive!!!! Praying this sticky bean is making himself/herself very cozy!!! I literally said "YES!" Out loud when i saw your post!!!!

@dookie32: FX for a smooth transfer today!! As for rest, first cycle I was on strict bedrest for 3 days. Only reason I got up was to use the restroom. This time, I was on "couch rest" as well but made my own food and walked around the house minimally as needed for 2 days. Then i ended up the next day at the DMV (probably one of the most stressful places on earth!!!) and finished the day at the bank trying to sort out my grandmothers estate (again super stressful). And this time, it worked! So trust your instincts and treat yourself
Update on OHSS: gained 2 1/2 lbs of fluid yesterday and was back at the Dr. He told me to take the Tylenol with codeine I was given after the ER and to stay sitting as straight up as possible (even to sleep). Have to weigh myself a few times a day. Happy to report that I got 5 straight ours of sleep last night and lost 1 lb! Not feeling all that much better, but knowing 1 lb of fluid is gone makes me feel like we're headed in the right direction!

@jaguar: YAY! I understand being cautiously optimistic but I really hope this is it for you!

@jaguar: Yes! Yes! Yes!! Those are not as sensitive, so the fact that you got a positive is AWESOME SAUCE!! WHOOP! I know that you are probably still scared sh*%less, but it is definitely moving in right direction. Positive thoughts your way.

2nd beta, which was only 24 hours after 1st, and 8dp5dt came back at 171. Was 116 on 7dp. Another appointment tomorrow for the OHSS, with another beta. Definitely relieved to see the number climb!

@dookie32: Good luck!
AFM, my estrogen finally doubled- from 27 to 56!! Hopefully it keeps up. Next bloods Saturday, med dose staying the same. Turns out the nurse was wrong, no us for me today, so no idea how the follicles are, but at 56 probably not much to see, which is why they have cancelled them all so far.
pear / 1881 posts
@Aqualov: oh good! Are they having any idea how long you will stim? Probably won't know for a few days to see how you continue to respond?
cherry / 107 posts
@NorthStar: I'm assuming at least 14 if not more? I really don't have any idea until I know if/how I keep responding and whether the slow response is just the way I am or due to the extra suppression. I'm at least 6 days behind where my first ultrasound was supposed to be based on my original calendar, so I'm assuming I'm at least that far behind where average is.

@jaguar: Really praying for you! Have you taken another frer? I agree that the only true indicator is a beta, but I'm still curious.
Sending so much love and luck to you!

@SweetiePie: I can't bring myself to do it.
If it's over, at least I have confirmation that something started to work ... so for my records, 4 miscarriages in a row = something is very wrong. And if it works, well, you can knock me over with a feather.
My gut still has alarm bells flashing. Could just be self preservation... or could be an omen.

@dookie32: Hey lady, how was your transfer? FX this is the magic bean! Hope you are enjoying some relaxation now. Do you plan to test or wait for the call?
@waiting4you: Yay for another great beta! I'm glad your doctor is being vigilant and giving you good care. I can't imagine feeling worse than I did with my mild case of OHSS -- you are a trooper! (Well, I did have a spontaneously twisting ovary which was hell...). Glad things are moving in the right direction! And you are pregnant!
@Aqualov: Awesome that your E2 doubled! Hope it keeps that up and you get to have a scan soon. Did they say what number they wanted to see before doing one? I bet in a couple days it will get up there!
@jaguar: Mamma, with all you have been through, I think you will have alarm bells flashing until that kid is college. So hoping Olaf is your lucky snowflake!
cherry / 107 posts
@Amorini: Thanks:) They didn't say. Considering that they wanted an E2 below 50 at baseline I think 56 is still quite on the low side lol. I'm okay with slow and steady if it gets me healthy embryos- I just wish it wasn't soooo expensive to stim for twice as long! I think I'm going to use all 5 of my lifetime prescription in one cycle, and possibly still need to buy more OOP Oh well. Whatever it takes, you know?
persimmon / 1132 posts
@Aqualov: I hear you on the expense of it. I'm not sure if my notes are correct because I made them after the fact, but I wrote down that I stimmed for 12 (freaking long) days at 450 IU Follistim. My E2 the day before stimming was less than 5! They had me on Lupron before so it really suppressed me, I guess, because the original plan was only 300 IU Follistim so I had to buy 50% more than the original plan. Anyway, what are you going to do mid-cycle, right?! Buy more stim juice, of course.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jaguar: gah!!! Sending you all the stickiness and love in the world for that little bean. Grow, baby, grow!!
cherry / 107 posts
@Amorini: Haha, exactly! 'Stim juice' lol. I bet I was close to or at zero when I began because of my real E2 level of 17 + the shot of Ganirelix added to that. What were your E2 levels like that cycle if you don't mind my asking?
persimmon / 1132 posts
@Aqualov: Well, my E2 started low and then spiked at the end. It went like this...
day before stims started = less than 5
stim day 3 = 79
stim day 5 = 272.6
stim day 7 = 975
stim day 10 = 4847
Then I had mild OHSS for a couple weeks (which was pretty freaking horrible-feeling, even though it was "mild!")
apricot / 344 posts
@NorthStar: thanks for asking. Took a turn for the worse. Went to Doctor this morning and he sent me to hospital to have my abdomen drained. Let me tell you, that is some of the worst pain I could have imagined!!! Even worse, my bowels were in the way and floating around so it was to risky to move the needles too much. Only took out a few cc's of fluid. So now I'm full of fluid (have gained 6 lbs since Tuesday) and I have a hole in my side!!! Oh, and the nurse blew the first IV so now I have iv bandages on both hands. Pretty close to miserable.
HOWEVER, we got to see the bean today!!!!!! Seriously, I was shocked!! Definitely a holy s*%t moment!! Had the same ultrasound tech today at the hospital as we had the other night in the ER. Showed us a tiny black hole with a tiny white dot in it. Said I'm "progressing nicely" if she can see that much development in 48 hours or so.
Waiting on a 3rd beta to come back today.

I was hoping to join to get some encouragement and advice. I have endo and DOR (low AMH) and DH has some MFI issues. We have been trying for a little over a year and just finished our first (failed) IVF round. We had tried clomid and IUI earlier. My response wasn't great - only had two eggs at retrieval, one was immature and the other failed to fertilize. It was really devastating to go through the whole process and have absolutely nothing at the end - not even a chance.
We have another IVF as part of a package, but I wondering if there were any other DOR ladies who might recommend something (like supplements, etc) to improve our chances or egg quantity in the next round. My Dr said we might have to go to donor eggs, but since we already paid for this next IVF round, we will do it and hope.
I guess I was just hoping to get some advice and encouragement. This process has been really hard and I don't know anyone in real life who has gone through this. Thanks in advance.

@Tennis79: Welcome! I'm so sorry that you need to be here and didn't have much response your first round. When are you doing your second round and are there any supplements that you are currently taking? I would definitely recommend CoQ10 or maybe even the more absorbable version, ubiquonol. They typically say 600mg of CoQ10 and for the link here, I'm taking 2 servings, which is 200mg of ubiqunol, but correlates to 600mg of CoQ10. Hopefully, that isn't too confusing. This is what I bought and am currently taking: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TOTSIQ/ref=nav_timeline_asin?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Typically, it takes about 3 months for any supplements that you take to improve egg quality and the same goes on the sperm side. Your DH could also take CoQ10 as I've heard that can help sperm quality as well. but, same thing - it takes about 3 months.
Please come back to this board as you need support and help. Many of us are going through this - I had a cycle in November. We got 6 eggs, 5 mature, but none made it to blast stage, so we transferred one morula and had none to freeze. I will be cycling again in about 4 weeks.

@waiting4you: Ugh, 6 lbs. Ouch.....keep your eyes on the baby prize! Holy moly. I'm so sorry things got so much worse. OHSS is capital-C crazy crazy, but I am sure glad you have the bean to make it all worth it!
@Tennis79: So sorry about your first cycle. And sorry you have to be on this board but you are in excellent company. Hugs. I think acupuncture is amazing and gave me so much hope. I don't know quite what it does, but others have said that it helps their response during stimming plus a host of other IVF-related things. Others on HB can give their input, too. I didn't do supplements as I was asked not to by my RE. She didn't think it would help my egg quality and I didn't have three months to spare (was getting "old" fast!). Anyway, I hope you can find some good information and ideas for the next cycle. What does your RE suggest as a strategy? I'm no RE, but it sounds like an entirely different protocol is in order.
apricot / 344 posts
@Tennis79: hi! And welcome! This is a wonderful place to come for support and information!
My hubby and I were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility" so our first cycle of IVF was kind of a "let's go with a standard protocol and see what happens". It failed but we learned a lot. The dr. Put hubby and I both on supplements (attached the list) and added HGH (human growth hormone) to our next cycle. We saw great improvement in quantity and quality of our eggs and were even able to let some fertilize without ICSI successfully. Definitely suggest asking your RE about the HGH! I swear it's what "worked" for us this time. Wishing you luck and looking forward to having you here on the board.

@Tennis79: Welcome to the boards, and I'm so sorry to hear of your first IVF. Not even getting a shot at a transfer is all sorts of heartbreaking. *hugs*
Max out the supplements, and hopefully your FS can tweak your protocol based on last time's results. Have they given you any indication of what they would do differently for round 2?
pea / 8 posts
@northstar: thank you for the welcome! We are planning on doing the second round in a couple of months. I wanted to wait a bit for a few reason - emotionally just to get ready again in case we had such a bad response again, and also because I had heard that eggs take a few months to react to supplements. I am thinking May or June. I was taking prenatal, Vitamin D (RE did test and showed I was a bit deficient), and 200mg CoQ - but not the ubiquinol and only for the month before the IVF. Maybe if I take the supplements for a bit longer, and increase some doses, they will have a better chance of helping. Sorry to hear about your first round, hopefully the second goes so much better! I will be routing for you
@amorini: Thanks for the advice about acupuncture! I had heard that it can be beneficial but wasn't sure how often and when I needed to start. I am considering doing it for the next few months. This time my RE had me on the long lupron protocol (and then 375 follistim and 75 menopur), she had initially wanted me to do the lupron microdose/flare, but I ovulated through the birth control suppression phase (had to cancel that cycle before it began), so they thought I might need more suppression. This time, they are hoping that being on birth control for a few months prior to cycling, my body will adjust better (I was only on it for less than two weeks prior) and I won't ovulate through the pills.
@waiting4you: thank you for the welcome and the information on the supplements and HGH. I will definitely look into those supplements and ask my RE about the possibility of using HGH. I appreciate the info!
@jaguar: thank you for the welcome! I explained a little of what the RE wants to do differently in my post to amorini. We will see, I feel like whatever they throw at me, my body just does the opposite of what is it supposed to do. Trying to stay hopeful for round two - I'm generally optimistic but this is hard.

Nothing like being told to just adopt, via an anonymous blog comment. Today sucks.
persimmon / 1132 posts
@jaguar: Ugh, I'm sorry. And an anonymous commenter at that. And right now?! Because you need a little extra stress. Your reply post was amazing and inspiring however. You completely nailed every last bit of why "just adopt" is no kind of advice for anyone.
ETA: Hey, but today (in Oz where it is my tomorrow) is my bday so it doesn't completely suck!
