IVF Thread #4

Just got my results and the HGH helped! Or at least I think it did.
2nd with HGH, MD lupron, 150 Menopur, 450 Follistim
    8 retrieved
    7 mature
    5 fertilized
    2 made it to freeze!

We are going to do FET and PGD testing. The question now is: We can test up to 8 and batch. Or what our insurance will allow is to use what we have before they can approve the next cycle. Do we use test the 2? or Do we do another cycle to batch?

I'm so geeked, we haven't gotten this far, yet.

@sweetiepie NO ONE should feel embarrassed on this site! You do what works for you and DH and we are here to support you no matter what! I'm excited you are trying another cycle! And I can certainly relate to the stops and starts and not knowing what/when to plan and wanting to tear your hair out. My last FET was a perfect example...I was trying to squeeze in the transfer before we moved cross-country and of course had elevated E2 due to a premature follicle then got the ovidrel shot, started again, had the transfer, had to beg for an early beta since not only did we move cross country but left the country for 2 weeks, 6 days after FET. Then I got the BFP and realized I was out of PIO and had to scramble to get fedex early morning before our flight to italy. Yup super well planned. But here I am 25 weeks pregnant so you just gotta go for it if you feel it's right!

I'll be thinking good thoughts for you and cheering you on as always!!

@honeydew...was going to ask but didn't want to pester. great news! congrats! the way my pgd batching worked was you can send up to 8 but they can come at different times and you only pay once. so we had 5 tested last summer and they told us we have up to three more we can test "for free". maybe yours works that way? @sweetiepie and @purplepumps might be able to weigh in....they've dealt with a bunch of PGD

  4. Honeydew

    kiwi / 568 posts

@MRS.PAJAMAS unfortunately the fee is for 1 time test up to 8 embies. I wished it was the way yours works.

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Mrs. Pajamas: Thanks! So did you only have a premature follicle once? What was your protocol after that?
@Honeydew: My PGD testing lab also batches up to 8 but they will only do them all at once, unlike @Mrs. Pajamas: so if I wanted to take advantage of the batching, based on what I've had retrieved so far, I'd still be waiting to test (had 2 to test the first cycle and 4 the next). For us, we felt that the cost to test every round was a worthwhile gamble since it may have meant NOT having to pay for another cycle of IVF. I would have been pissed of we did 3 cycles to batch 8 and then find out the only normal was from cycle 1. But that's just me!

@endymion4: did you have your 2nd beta today?

  7. Mrs. Pajamas

    kiwi / 702 posts

@SweetiePie: Yup just once and I was doing an FET not a retrieval so it's a little different from you. But basically I did the ovidrel shot then got AF a few days later and went back on the normal PIO/estrogen shots leading up to the FET. They did another lining check and bloodwork before re-scheduling my transfer and I had to have I think a minimum of 6 PIO shots before transfer. It was all crazy trying to squeeze it in before our move.

    @SweetiePie: i did--waiting for a call

@Honeydew: so glad the HGH helped! ours was also up to 8 to test (all at once only), so we just did as many as we had

@Honeydew: Yikes! I'd personally just pay to test what I had rather than pay for an IVF cycle OOP I think since it would be a lot less. Sorry, I forget it if was mentioned before, but how much is it for you to do the PGS, or would a OOP IVF cycle cost?

  10. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Mrs. Pajamas: ohhh yes yes yes I remember all of that now. What a whirlwind that was for you.

  11. SweetiePie

    @PurplePumps: what's your status?

  12. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@SweetiePie: Still @#($*@#! waiting....... my lap is scheduled for 3/23. Do that, do a month of BCP, another retreival.... then mock cycle for EFT... pending results of that, plan a transfer. Earliest transfer probably around July... UGH!! But if I end up having to do the 3 month Lupron depot, then Oct. And just like that, another freaking year goes by...

  13. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@PurplePumps: waitinggggg is the worst. Ugh sorry.
I was just thinking that today. We first started the process back in July. IVF is such a damn long process. The testing then the stimming then pgd then waiting another cycle then more BCP or estrogen priming then stimming. Rinse repeat. And it's a long process even if you don't hit any road bumps!
Sheesh. Anyway, still thinking of you a lot! xo

@PurplePumps: noooo!!! the waiting SUCKS! every part of this feels like losing so much time before getting to the part that actually 'does' something!

@SweetiePie: LOL, oh no.... I started my first IVF cycle in Aug of 2014. By last July I think that was my 5th cycle.

@PurplePumps: Oh by "we" I meant my husband and I. Lol 😂 I know you've been at it for a whole lot longer than I have and you handle it way better than I could have.

@SweetiePie: ooooh haha! naw, we're all proven survivors here. I think we all can take anything thrown at us. Which I hope isn't too much more!!

I guess I'll update. I stimmed in Jan and ended up with 3 frozens. We had a single FET in feb and I'm now 12p5dt. It's been a bit of a ride as I had a negative HPT the morning of beta and expected a negative call. My office called with positive results later that afternoon. I go back Wednesday but still not feeling hopeful. I know it could have been a bad test but I always seem to have crappy luck. Anyway, glad to see some action again on this board! I've missed all of you

Hi ladies, if anyone has considered IVF for secondary undiagnosed infertility, could you please share your experience either here or preferably in my thread:

    http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/did-you-consider-ivf-for-undiagnosed-secondary-infertility

I am on the fence regarding whether or not to try IVF and am interested in how others have made their decision. It just seems like a very onerous process.

    Thank you!

@endymion4: What about your repeat beta? Any news?

AFM I triggered our my premature follicle last night. Nurse said I'll go in Thursday for blood and US again. Most likely start the patch that day. Then should get my period a week or so after and I'll start stims. Assuming all goes as planned.
And of course now it will interfere with a trip I already bought plane tickets for to see my mom and sister. So I'll probably have to cancel the tickets and come clean with them about what we're doing. Not sure how else I can get away with canceling on them.

@yellowbeach: Congrats on the birth of your sweet DD! How is she doing? How are you doing?

@SweetiePie: @PurplePumps: Just wanted you both to know that I'm thinking of you often and sending you lots of positive thoughts! I've been lurking and checking in!

@LibbyLou: Cautiously saying congrats! I will be checking in to see what Wednesday brings! Hoping for the best!

@Winnie13: Thanks. I'm essentially back to normal, except for my belly - I don't think I'll ever get my abs back DD is doing well. She's still in the NICU, just celebrated her 1 month birthday and has gained a whole pound since birth. We are currently working with the NICU team to figure out when we can come home. She still has an NG tube but DH and I are both docs, so I feel like we could manage that at home.

@SweetiePie: 2nd beta looked good. now we wait. i tend to get into trouble about 1-2 weeks from this point

@yellowbeach: so glad to hear DD is doing well and great weight gain! Happy 1 month!!

@LibbyLou: Yup. I've delayed one girls trip 3 times. And I thought this trip with my fam was in the clear because I booked it 2 months ago and I thought my cycle would be well over with. And now it's my tentative retrieval weekend. So annoying!
I have the girls trip now at the end of April and man I will be soooooo pissed if this happens again.

@endymion4: great news about the beta. Will be thinking of you the next few weeks.

My 5week US showed everything was in the right place. First time ever it's been in my uterus and not tube! I know I'm pregnant but since all the bad stuff always seems to happen to me in this long IF journey I don't feel it's real yet. Keep telling myself to enjoy it while it lasts- I'm praying it lasts the whole 9months.

AFM - finally numbers looked normal this morning! Trigger worked and I am starting estrogen patch today for about a week and tomorrow I start 3 days of ganirelix to keep any of these f'ers from growing again when they shouldn't! Should start stims when i get my period in about a week.

Hey lovely ladies. Calling anyone who has done estrogen priming from mid cycle - was your period delayed at all? My timeline is like this and still no period:

Sat 3/11 - Ovidrel to trigger out premature follicle
Thurs 3/16 to current - estrogen patch (new patch every other day)
Thurs 3/17-19 - Ganirelix (in conjunction with estrogen patch)

They told me I'd likely get my period by now and I haven't. They even called me to make sure I didn't forget to call them because they thought I would have had it. But nope...just didn't get it yet. This is a super long cycle for me (36 days vs usual 28). I did take a hpt jusssst in case but its stark white.

Is my body just f'ed up since I've been manipulating it for the last several months? Anyone else get late period after estrogen priming? I read mixed things on the interweb so looking for some real life experiences from the ladies I trust most!

I'll go in tomorrow morning for blood and ultrasound and will hopefully start stims that night.

    Newbie here!

Saying hello for some distraction during my tww. Brief history:

*At 28 started trying naturally, tried for about a year.
    *Initial testing showed moderate mfi.
*Did 5-6 IUI over the next year, hoping to avoid IVF. *Decided in November to move to IFV after the holidays.
*Had to redo testing for insurance and have a uterine polyp removal
*Finally started IVF cycle 1 about a month ago. BC suppression followed by ~1.5 weeks of stimming. 27 eggs retrieved; 18 fertilized with ICSI
*Transferred one Blast TODAY! Will find out tomorrow how many made it to freeze.

So I guess I am officially PUPO? Trying to be cautiously optimistic - this is as far as I know the closest to pregnant we've ever been!
