@Mrs. Pajamas: ooh, yes, I do vaguely remember that now that you mention it again. I'm just on oral estrace and prednisone this time. (last time was estrace and letrozole) I'll have to see how things look tomorrow and then be doing crinone. And I think I continue estrace with the progesterone. If I start that tomorrow, looks like transfer could be as early as 21st. I'm hoping it'll be the 23rd though so I can make a weekend out of it. (I live in MA and my dr is in NYC)

@PurplePumps: I've also been wondering about you. Glad your FET is so soon! Remind me which doc in NYC you ended up going with?

AFM, got my next steps and I'm taking 3 more Menopur tonight, that damn ganirelix, and then tomorrow morning 4 Menopur before monitoring. I suppose tomorrow he'll be able to tell me if we're canceling or not.

FET day was today for me - everything went well and I'm hoping our little embryo is getting nice and cozy inside. Beta booked for the 28th but I'll definitely test before. Fingers crossed!

@PurplePumps: That is exciting! Like @Mrs. Pajamas: said, We will all be very close in days! My transfer is the 22nd. To prepare for this cycle, I did BCP and Lupron (tonight was my last night) I'm on estrodial and I start PIO tomorrow. I'll get the call Monday to get the time of my transfer. It's getting real!
@SweetiePie: Glad things are rolling along nicely for you!
@momazon: That's wonderful! Hoping for some great news very soon!

Well, My cycle isn't canceled. Yet. He wants to give me the weekend to continue on seven vials a day of Menopur. As of this morning I had two growing. I didn't ask for sizes, I should have. When the nurse calls me with my formal instructions I'll ask her. He said that over the weekend would be hoping for a third to grow. Trigger on Monday retrieval Wednesday. I'll be honest, I'm pretty surprised that we would move forward with the retrieval for only two or three eggs. But I guess he's trying to tell me that that's the best will get. He did mentioned the possibility of doing several retrievals over the next few months, banking them, then getting the entire batch tested.
Welp, I guess this is what happens when you tell the fertility gods you're only going to do one round.

@SweetiePie: haha, nothing is ever definite in this world huh!
Do you have the option to test your embryos as you go and take advantage of batching, but without the wait to collect embryos? The contract my clinic uses allows for the same flat batch rate for up to 8 embryos with in a 9 month period, but they can be sent in as you along for just a shipping fee. So we did one cycle, sent it in and got the results right away and could use those results to determine if we wanted to invest in another retrieval.

  9. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@PurplePumps: I haven't heard of that! I'll have to review my contract with the pgd testing lab and I'll for sure ask if I can't find it. Thanks for the suggestion!
Because my first thought was "if I do 3+ rounds of retrievals and find out that the good embryo is from the first round, I'd be pissed" 😂

  10. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@SweetiePie: haha! right!? I was so shocked and thrilled when he explained that was an option. We only had 2 blasts to tests, so if we couldn't do that, we definitely would have done another round to collect more. But luckily we were able to find out by some miracle both are normal and decided to hold off on another retrieval.

@momazon will be thinking sticky thoughts for you!
@Sweetiepie that is great news that you are responding now! I agree with @Purplepumps re: being able to send multiple rounds of embryos to the genetics lab. I was thrilled to find this out before we got our results. Since it's so expensive it's nice to know it's not a "one and done" analysis for them. I hope things grow and develop over the weekend.

  14. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Mrs. Pajamas: @PurplePumps: Ugh well I spoke to the lab and they charge per cycle and will test up to 8 embryos and then it's another $250 for embryo after that. But still per cycle.
They have different pricing for batching cycles, apparently. So I guess I'll wait and see what happens on Monday and take it from there.

@SweetiePie: I'm sorry friend! All you can do is push forward! Praying you get a good number this round!! I often think that God laughs when we make these declarations for ourselves. When I first got married, I had a 2 year "plan" and thought I would have my first baby, maybe even second baby by now... Boy, was I wrong! Stay positive!
    @PurplePumps: Pretty much transfer buddies!

So can someone reassure me that the occasional big drop of blood from a sub-q shot is ok and normal? My ganirelix went fine last night, not even a drop of the medicine came back out. But right after I did the menopur and I accidentally let go of the plunger before I pulled the needle out. There was a tiny bit of blood and MAYBE some menopur mixed in the syringe and I had a huge drop of blood dripping down my stomach. It stopped as soon as I applied pressure but today it's bruised.
All normal from time to time? Did I mess up big time? I'm mostly concerned that I lost some meds. And clearly I need every drop I can get right now!

  19. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@SweetiePie: There have been a couple of time when DH has given me a shot in the tummy that I've had some bleeding. Everything turned out fine with ER so, I think it's ok!

Speaking of needles... any other tips for the PIO... I started on Friday and I already have a huge lump and pain!
This morning I warmed the vial under my bra for 20 min and I used a heating pad before DH injected me. Then, we used a warm washcloth and DH massaged the area for awhile. My muscle is super sore now, but I don't feel any lumps! We will see tomorrow!
Any other tip/suggestions. If a lump forms, does that mean the medicine isn't getting spread?

  20. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@SweetiePie: Oh yeah, I've had some blood with what look like some meds mixed with it come back out plenty of times, maybe just a drop and then a small bruise forms around it. It just nicks a little vein or something sometimes I think.
@Winnie13: hmm, you started progesterone of Friday for a Thursday transfer? I don't start progesterone until Sunday night for Friday transfer... we're a day off from each other on that. weird.

  21. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Winnie13: I always had lumps but the medicine spread just fine. Someone told me once to walk around after while massaging because that works the muscle and also helps to move it.
I did heat the injection site before with a heating pad and then laid on the pad after too.
Oh and once the oil was in the syringe then I wrapped it inside the heating pad for a couple of mins.
I also read once to use a vibrator on the injection spot To help break it up. Haha.

  22. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@SweetiePie: Ok, I'm definitely going to try that each time to see if it helps! Glad to know the lumps are normal! Oh, my! I just read that today too! Lol!
@Purplepumps: My clinic has me start with a half dose (which I did on Fri) and then go to the full dose (which I did today). I'm in another message board and there is a woman who has her transfer the day before me and we started PIO the same day. It's definitely my clinic... They like that half dose! Lol!

@momazon: fingers crossed for a sticky embie!
@SweetiePie: Hoping those follicles grow between now & retrieval.

I found out that of the 9 that fertilized, only 3 made it to day 5/6 and were biopsied. Based on what the lab told me about percentages, I'm hoping to get 1 healthy but who knows. I'm super disappointed. I have an appointment Wednesday to go over results with my RE & plan for the next step. I'm leaning towards doing another retrieval but H wants to do a transfer (provided there is one suitable) first. Sounds like the OHSS wasn't great for the egg quality I'm trying to stay positive but at the same time, I feel like I should prepare for the possibility that all 3 are either affected or chromosomally abnormal

  24. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@PointeShoesTutus: So I can't remember exactly why you're doing PGD, but I have to do it because I have a balanced translocation.
I was pretty upset the first time because out of 7 tested only one was abnormal. And that's about what my odds are, 15% (well that's what they were 3 years ago). But then my RE told me how pleased he was with one normal - he was sure we'd have to do 2-3 rounds. So that helped put it into perspective.
I was definitely disappointed like you are though, it's a valid feeling. You hear about people with 1, 2 or 3 frosties and just assume that will be you too.
But, that one good embryo is now my 2 year old son. So although it was disappointing to have none saved, and to have to do this again, it was all worth it.
Anyway, I just wanted to comment that I relate to how you're feeling and that while it can feel discouraging now, it will feel like a miracle if that's the baby you get to take home someday. Will be thinking of you.

I'm feeling pretty bloated today. Could be a good sign? Or I just need to fart.
Gosh this is all so glamorous. "Are the meds derived from menopausal women's urine causing my ovaries to blow up like softballs, or do I need to pass gas?"

  26. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@PointeShoesTutus: I know how you feel. I just can't imagine how people can end up with like 5+ blasts just out of one round and multiple normals! We went from 25 eggs, to 12 fertilized, to 2 blasts the last round. I was so disappointed, but it turned out both came back normal. It's not over for you just yet! We see the stats and I know it's hard to remain hopeful, but my fingers and toes crossed for all 3 normal blasts!

  27. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

Well I'm making progress. I now have three 14-15mm follies and one mature.
I'm upset that my RE wasn't on monitoring this morning so I got someone I've never met. She was very nice though. I need to wait for his instructions, but she said based on what she sees, she thinks my doc will want to hold off on trigger to see if some of the mid-sized can get a little bigger. Guessing I'll keep stimming and go back in on weds. Maybe trigger weds for Friday retrieval.
At least out of all of this we now know I don't respond well to gonal-f and I need a high dosage of menopur. I'm placing my third order for meds today! I'll use all of my refills in one cycle. I certainly wasn't expecting that.

  28. PurplePumps

    pomegranate / 3809 posts

@SweetiePie: yay for progress! That sounds about right. They did that for me last cycle....sacrifice the larger already mature one or two for the larger bunch trailing behind a little. I had on as big as 26mm when I triggered!

  29. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@PurplePumps: thanks for the reassurance! This is SUCH a different experience for me this time, it's hard not to second guess everything. I convinced myself last week that I wasn't responding because I was doing something wrong with my meds. Such a head game!

I've always been cheering so hard for you, but I couldn't really fathom how you felt going through so many cycles and setbacks. Mad props to you, I don't know how you do it. You are tough AF.

RE just called with results. Two affected with major thalessemia and the third had an extra copy of chromosome 22 (we opted to have PGS done on any normal/carrier embryos for this exact reason). So this round is a complete bust. I had a feeling but wanted to stay hopeful but poor H is devestated We go on Wednesday for a follow up to discuss another round

@pointeshoestutus I'm so so sorry. I've dealt with so much disappointment through this journey so I can sympathize. Huge hugs to you and H. The silver lining though is that these babies would not have had a good chance. DH and I decided to do PGD for the specific reason that the miscarriage we experienced was the single worst thing that happened to us. Worse than a BFN after an FET. But still...take time to mourn and talk to your RE about next steps. Wishing you strength.

Quiet day today, how's everyone doing?

  36. Winnie13

    kiwi / 501 posts

@SweetiePie: I'm doing good! Feeling sore from the PIO! Had a little scare because my clinic drew the circles too far forward and I think I gave 2 doses in fat, not muscle! Contacted my clinic and they said I'm ok and just hit the muscle from now on. I had a mild freak out last night, so I was super glad to hear it was fine!

I'm feeling like 100000 different emotions for Thursday! I can't believe it's actually here!

How are you doing? When is your next scan?

  37. SweetiePie

    honeydew / 7463 posts

@Winnie13: Yeah I have minor freak outs all the time about my injections! Right now I'm internally freaking out because I didn't realize I could pull back more diluent than I needed and then push the air back into the diluent vial so that I actually ended up with a full mL of fluid every time. So for the last 11 days I've been injecting more like .5-.75 mL of diluent mixed with all the menopur. I just thought that's what happens - You pull it back to the 1mL and you get some air and some liquid. I always did push the extra air out before injecting, but I'm worried I wasn't getting enough medicine and that's why I wasn't responding. 😳 Hopefully it's fine since the all the actual menopur vials were all used.

I have a scan tomorrow morning so we'll find out how many they can see and if I trigger!
Quite honestly I already feel/know this cycle is a bust, so I'm just excited to get the show on the road so I can start the next cycle and do the right meds from the very first injection (skip gonal-f and go right to all menopur)! I might have a real chance then! Sucks the first cycle is sort of trial and error, but at least we know!

So excited for you Thursday and @PurplePumps: for Friday!!!

Just tested tonight at 5 days past my FET, and got a pretty strong line! We're trying not to get too too excited because we know from past experiences how quickly this can go away, but for now, I'm just trying to live in the moment and enjoy it. OMG!
