Does anyone use these?
A friend just started selling them, so she sent me a sample. Going to paint my nails tonight and apply the sample to one nail. Yes, it is going to be an exciting Friday night at the Smurf house!

I surprised myself by really liking them. My sister sells them and I started putting them on consistently for the first 4-5 weeks after I bought some from her. However I did find that they really damaged my nails after repeated use, haven't been wearing them for about 6 weeks now and I think they are healthy again. I love wearing them though and plan to put them on again soon.

I cannot get them to not bubble for the life of me! I have a few cute patterns that I want to use but I don't want to waste them due to bubbling and peeling quickly

So i've been using them and they take me a good 30 minutes to get on! A few tricks i've learned from my first two attempts:
1) use a ceramic heater or something. A blow dryer is a pain
2) cap the ends with glue or nail polish. Mine really like to peel back there probably from typing all day.
3) the 'plastic baggy trick" has been helpful to avoid wrinkles and bubbles because i have curved nails, apparently
4) Cut, don't file the ends off. Filing is a mess
5) Use tweezers to apply, not your fingers (the oils are bad)
6) i didn't buy the rubber thing and just use a pencil end.

They look cute enough but they have taken over my Facebook feed and I'm so over it!

They did not stay on my nails long enough to be worth the application. I prefer the Vinylux nail polish that I can do at home and it stays on a week.
They do have cute designs though!

@blackbird: Ceramic heater? I have a heater for my stamps, would that be better? I am only going to try one or two nails. The sample only has one strip.
What is the plastic baggy trick?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ms.janedoe: They are like wraps for your nails. All kinds of designs and just color too.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@smurfette, it's basically my ceramic space heater! It just frees up your hands. The plastic baggy trick is where, after you apply them, you wrap the bag super tight around your nails and put it near the heater to basically shrink wrap the nails on.
And just to be annoying....heh.

@Mrs. Yoyo: agreed.
I think they're cute but I think they're really expensive. And tHe direct sales thing is annoying.

I've been wanting to try them, but they seem like a pita to put on. Especially since I don't have a hair dryer!

Why have I never heard of these before?!?! Hmmm off to investigate
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@blackbird: so I just put the sample on and it pealed right off?!?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@chopsuey: I tried a sample. It's a PITA and you wouldn't like it. I didn't. Even with a dryer it was hard to get evenly flat on my nails and then cutting the edges was a PITA esp for an OCD freak like me!

I really like them. The patterns are cute and stay on a lot longer than polish, which usually chips for me by day two.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@smurfette, hmm mine came with instructions. You have to clean your nail, buff it, then heat the strip up, apply, use pressure, then trim. Kind of a pain. But I'll do anything to keep me from biting my damn nails
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@blackbird: yeah my friend, who sells them, told me I needed to heat the back before I apply. I didn't see that part, Opps! She is going to send me another sample.

@blackbird: that picture made me buy love fern
And just to add to the annoying

Yup, seeing it pop up on my FB news feed. I actually decided to click on the catalog, I might be intrigued.

@Smurfette: Are you liking your jamberry nails now? I just ordered a bunch, but have never tried them! Hoping I didn't waste my money!!

I ordered some. I like their longevity but they are a pain to put on!

I really want my Jamberry nails to work! I'm only on my second set (day 4) and they are bubbling at the edges and catching on my hair. Argh. I love love love all the designs and I really want them to work! I just watched an application video and I think I have a new plan for my next set.
This is the video I watched:

I think my problem was I was using my fingers to peel them up and might've gotten oil on the wrap.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Emsmems: I only did one nail since I just had a sample and I wasn't impressed. Hard to put on (cutting them to fit) and it peeled off. But I have been told I put it on wrong.
nectarine / 2636 posts
@Smurfette: I've been told you get faster at putting them on with practice. I know one girl who said it takes her 20 min for a full set where it took an hour before. I agree that it is kind of a pain but better than polish chipping after a couple days.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: that video seems very helpful! I'm saving it for when mine come!!
honeydew / 7091 posts
Bumping this up to see if anymore people have tried them and like them? I'm really wanting to get some/give some as Christmas gifts, but if they're too much of a PITA...
honeydew / 7091 posts
@abbydabbydoodlebug: @yellowbird: @MrsH: @blackbird: Love all your nails!! Are you girls still using them?
nectarine / 2636 posts
@swurlygurl: I got mine to last about 10 days before they started lifting and driving me crazy. Lol. I used the plastic bag technique and cleaned my nails with dawn before and did the alcohol wipe before each nail. I think having the jamberry heater would make applying a lot easier. I honestly haven't had time lately to put some on. I'll probably do a set before Thanksgiving. One thing I did notice was after removing my second set, my nails have started peeling which they haven't done in years! Maybe I didn't remove them correctly though. They are super cute and I really love the designs but I don't have much time to do them with a 10 month old. I would've been all about these pre-kid though!
honeydew / 7303 posts
@swurlygurl: I haven't used any in a while. They just take me too long to put on and I have no motivation! I love them though. I do think the heater would make it a lot easier!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@swurlygurl: I put these on last night!
Eta: just noticed it's the same wraps I did 3 months ago! Lol.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@abbydabbydoodlebug: had the same experience with them peeling my nails off-I have to heat them up really good first so the adhesive doesn't pull my nails off
honeydew / 7091 posts
@blackbird: Cute! How long do they take you to put on? I'm assuming you're getting quicker with more practice
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@swurlygurl: they take about 30 min...maybe? Polish can take as long to dry but it's more labor intensive I'd say
Christmas jams!
