@edelweiss: No, because I realized that if we switch then we also need to get the new stroller, since the only stroller we have at the moment is the snap and go. And we're also waiting to get the convertible seat for Hubs's car, which we can do next week when our BRU coupon is active. So then we'll get the stroller and install the seats. Hopefully in the next week or so! The Clek is sitting on the floor in the living room and I can't WAIT to put him in it! Ha ha ha.

@heartsnsunshine: welcome back! It's crazy have an active LO! Sounds like our babes don't understand that they're still suppose to be babies!

@birdofafeather: love that crawling pic! It's so much trickier with a mobile baby isn't it?

DH brought home a push walker yesterday. A minute later she's off down the hallway. It's half exciting / half terrifying.

@edelweiss: haha - butterfly stroke on dry land - that's the perfect description for it!! I agree, it is *hard* to watch them now that they're moving!!

@oliviaoblivia: Whaaa? Already using a push walker?! That's just amazing. And scary!

any new milestones updates? r has been pulling herself up all over the place and crawling to and fro. it's fun, but keeps me on my toes!

@birdofafeather: L is still not crawling or pulling himself up. But when I pick him up at daycare he starts clapping and gets the biggest smile. It's awesome.

  6. pinkb

    pear / 1599 posts

@birdofafeather: still working on getting the crawling forward so no pulling up yet.
@dagret: I have been trying so hard to get Abi to clap and she just stares at me...lol. How sweet he gets so excited to see you!

D has just gotten army crawling down to where he can do it on purpose, but he only does a couple of pulls at a time right now. He is crazy active and twisty turny! I can barely feed him anymore! He wants to sit up instead so that's how I've been giving him his bottles.

  8. birdofafeather

    pineapple / 12053 posts

    @dagret: that is so cute!
@pinkb: R went from crawling backward for a month to crawling forward and pulling herself up within a week. Totally crazy. I was like, no! Stay there on the ground for a while!

@Mrs Green Grass: I was commenting with my neighbor how each kid seems to do the crawl thing differently! R has never army crawled, but still kinda tucks her leg under herself to push herself forward. My neighbors son did the rocking and army crawl!

  9. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

@dagret: Clapping! SO cute! We are nowhere close to clapping

L is pulling herself up and climbing on things (up single steps, onto fireplaces mantles, etc). Tooth #3 just finished poking through, and half of tooth #4 is out! She is babbling a TON. She says 'mamama' and 'dadada', but I'm 99.9% sure it's not actually directed at us, just noises she likes to make.

    pomelo / 5628 posts

@birdofafeather: Yeah I know! I don't think he's going to be an army crawler in general, it's just the only way he can consistently get forward. He's really close to all fours working. But he also likes to use his head as kind of a tripod and then push with his legs...pretty funny.

G is crawling now, she was making attempts but really got going this week. She is also sitting up from a laying position now. Wowza where did my little baby go?

Annnd as of last night we have a boy who can go from lying down to sitting up, and a REAL crawler as of this morning! He loves to stand up.

@dagret: it's crazy how fast they pick stuff up!

E has, in the past week, started rolling around to get places, going from sitting to rocking-on-knees, babbling "blah blah" and "rah rah", and reaching out for us to pick him up. It's been so crazy to see him change so much so quickly!

I agree, we are in a really fun stage! Dylan's first word will easily be mama. Those are his favorite syllables which is awesome : ). He's moving all over the place, but doesn't move quickly yet since he doesn't do the same move back to back. It's a mixture of rolling, reaching, army crawl and real crawl. It's funny to watch although he gets really frustrated too.

We've got a third tooth finally too. The first 2 popped up over 2 months ago, now we've got an upper - not in the middle though...next to middle.

    pear / 1599 posts

As of today Abi is crawling. Man are we in trouble..lol. I love this stage she is so interested in getting into everything and the animals, she wants to always be touching one of the dogs or the cat. She screams at them thinking they will some to her when all they do is run and hide. She LOVES to get kisses from them. 2 teeth so far on the bottom but I think more are coming soon. We officialy put away the infant car seat and moved her to the convertable ones.
She doesnt try to pull up yet but she does try to stand up when she is on her knees

So much crawling this week! I both love and hate baby mobility.
L has taken to waving at everyone we meet. She also says a "Hi/Hey" with it. Not sure if we can count it as a word but she only says it when waving. She asks for Dada when happy and mama when sad. She doesn't use them consistently, but she is using them specifically.
Last week brought another two teeth for a grand total of six. And with them came biting. Never while nursing, But she crawled up to me and bit my arm today. Hard. Didn't even see it coming.

We've got 2 teeth and are working on a third ! Jack is crawling everywhere and pulls to stand like a pro! He even let's go and stands there for a few seconds before plopping down ! He's babbling something that sounds an awful lot like DaDa ! This has been my most favorite stage !

  19. kayakgirl73

    clementine / 750 posts

It is a wonderful stage. We have da da going on as well. She has six teeth and boy do I know it some days. She's getting faster every day with her crawling.

We've got full-on crawling in our house! He took his first few drawls on Thursday, strung more "steps" together on Friday and now he's off! So fun to watch! And so much less groaning out of frustration. He's pulling up to stand a bit too.

@Mrs Green Grass: way to go D!
    @kayakgirl73: I just love babbling!

Little one here has been even more mobile. He has been taking stepa for the last few weeks both assisted and unassisted. He climbs stairs and stands up all by himself climbs on things pillows are no longer barriers for him...sigh. I have a feeling hes gonna be walking by 9 months! Please pray for us lol hes already into everything!

But he STILL has no teeth! We thought for sure he was teething earlier this week , but he ended up having a virus that caused h I m to be miserable. .... damn teeth are waiting!

ok ladies! 9 month updates! (how are they nine months already?!)

    height: 29.75 in
    weight: 19 lb 10 oz
teeth: 2 bottoms all the way in, top 4 working their way down (all in various stages of cutting through)
recent milestones: cruising all over the place, using household objects as walkers, can stand on her own for about 10 seconds at a time!

    how are your kiddos doing?

  24. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

    @birdofafeather: I know - it's so sad! But exciting? I'm confused... Haha.

    Height: 28 in
    Weight: 19 lb
Teeth: 4 total (2 on top 2 on bottom), 2 more on top working their way down, verrrry slowly
Recent Milestones: Dancing, clapping, cruising, standing on her own for a couple seconds

  25. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

@birdofafeather: L REFUSES to walk with the rolling toys. She freaks out and grabs for me to save her. Haha

  26. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

I refuse to believe that it's time for nine month updates! Waaaaah!

    Ht. 29.75"
Wt. 20lbs 10oz slimming down finally!
    Teeth. Top four, bottom three
Milestones. She took her first step last week and has refused to repeat it! She loves climbing onto the sofa and has almost mastered getting off of it by going backwards. She waves hello and goodbye constantly and gets frustrated when people don't wave back so she waves harder. She claps, mostly for herself and the pup, sometimes for me. My favorite thing right now is her social laughter. When she hears someone laugh, she laughs. Even is it's just some random person on the street. She signed more back to me a few times. She has three words - Hi, Dada, & Mama....with an emphasis on dada. I'm really loving this age! I think i say that every month! Haha!

    Height: 29inches
Weight: 18.1lbs (she has shot up a lot since her last check up and now is normal average size! Yay)
Teeth: bottom 2 working on top 2, her gums are super swollen.
Recent Milestones: Crawls and is currently trying to pull up/ stand up. Babbles a lot.

  28. allison

    pear / 1895 posts

Late, as always, but here are E's 9 month stats!

    height: 29.5 inches

    weight: 21 lbs 11 oz

teeth: He finally has one that's just starting to poke through, on the bottom! I think the other front bottom is coming soon, as well.

recent milestone: He's sooo close to crawling. He takes a few "steps", but hasn't mastered the full-on crawl yet. The increased mobility is definitely keeping us on our toes!

Alright! I've been out of the loop for a while, but JM turned 10 months this today so I figured I needed to update.

We didn't get measured today, but his 9 months stats were:

    30 inches
    21 lbs. 14 oz.

This past month he went from army crawling to "real" crawling. we are at 8 teeth, but he's been super fussy the past few days so I think we are going to see our molars pretty soon. He has also taken a few good steps, but I think it's still going to be some time before he walks completely by himself. He's into everything. He babbles quite a bit, but the only real words that I think he is attempting is "uh oh." He says it every time he drops something. It sounds more like "uh, uh."

I think we can call her a walker! Nine steps in a row today across our living room.

So incredibly awesome. I've never seen her so pleased with herself.

  31. birdofafeather

    pineapple / 12053 posts

@oliviaoblivia: so fun! we've been working on it, but she really only does it when we set her up and she's going back and forth to us. i did see her take a couple steps without my prompting today from the coffee table to our safety gate, so i do think she's getting more confident and knows what she's doing!

  32. littlebug

    honeydew / 7504 posts

@oliviaoblivia: That is awesome! Go L!

D is rolling all over the place, and shows very little interest in crawling. More and more frequently, he'll get onto his hands and knees from the sitting position, hold it for a few seconds, but then he just gives up and rolls off on his merry little way. He will roll clear across the room before you even know it, and can scootch himself around if he needs to change direction. But crawling? Nah. He can stand if we put him in the position, and has kind of started pulling himself up, but we're nowhere near walking.

I think a lot of you read and commented on my post, but at his 9-month appointment, we were told that he's not gaining enough weight and that he has a heart murmur, so by the time the ped (casually, off-handedly) mentioned that he was behind in some of his gross motor development, I had pretty much shut down and didn't/couldn't even think to ask for details. Even before that appointment, though, I had my concerns. I know I shouldn't compare, but it's impossible not to, and I do worry that he's "behind." We don't push him, though, because we don't want to make him more frustrated and make him not want to try at all. So we continue to just let him take his time and figure things out on his own. But it's hard and it makes me sad sometimes to see that he's not hitting these milestones like other babies his age.

  33. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@littlebug: hugs. It's so hard to not compare babies. D will crawl and he will walk. One baby in our play group walked a month before he ever crawled. His mom was very worried about the not crawling, LO and behold he preferred walking. His heart murmur is a scary thing, but from what I understand is common and often self limiting. I really hope that once you see the specialist your fears are eliminated.
As far as weight gain, I've had my own concerns about L. She's still big, but not the huge jumbo baby she once was. For BF babies their weight gain slows around six months. Also, you are thin and healthy and D might just be built like his mama. Not every baby is going to be the biggest or the smallest.
Do you have follow appointments soon?

  34. dagret

    grapefruit / 4235 posts

@littlebug: It is super hard to not compare! L was scooting for the longest time, then all of a sudden he just took off crawling. The next week he was pulling himself up on stuff!

I have a heart murmur and it's very minor - i don't even need to take antibiotics when I get dental work.

    Hang in there mama!

  35. dagret

    grapefruit / 4235 posts

here are L's stats from his appt this am (his 9 month appt but he's almost 10 months!)

    Length:30.25 in
    Weight:18 lbs 15 oz
Teeth: 4 (2 on top, 2 on bottom, next top 2 are working their way down)
Recent Milestone: nodding. It is so cute. And he is cruising really well - we expect him to take off any day now!

  36. allison

    pear / 1895 posts

@littlebug: I didn't see your post! I had a heart murmur when I was born, and it self-corrected. Hopefully D's will be the same!

I feel like a lot of babies in this group are ahead of the curve, development-wise. Most babies are not walking at 9/10 months! Eli JUST started crawling. Like a week ago. I agree with others that it's SO hard not to compare, though.

Hugs! Being a mama is so hard sometimes.

Jack is about 31 inches long and 22 lbs. He has six teeth!
I think we are right on the cusp of walking. If you follow me on IG you saw my video of him pushing his walker SO FAST.

My favorite thing he does now: feeds us! He is always offering us his puffs

what are the kiddos working on these days? she's a little late to the game, but just this week, she's started waving at people. her wave is so funny though, it's like a beauty queen on a parade float wave. i love it! i need to make sure i video it because i'm sure it will change next week!

she's been running all over the place, but she still has her moments where she had a drunk baby walk. it's hilarious.

another favorite thing this week was her crawling up the local gym at the park to a slide and sliding down all by herself (while DH and i spotted from 2 sides!)

still waiting on an official first word... she's trying out her vocal sounds, but nothing as stuck quite yet!

and 12 month check stats just because:
    31" tall
    21 lb 14 oz

    let's check in!

  40. littlebug

    honeydew / 7504 posts

Dax continues to be on the small side: 28 3/4" tall and 19lb 13oz. The ped says his weight puts him in the 2%, but when I look at the chart, I'm seeing him around 20%. So I don't know. I'm confused.

Anyway. He JUST started crawling the week of his 1st birthday. He still isn't pulling up to stand and doesn't cruise the furniture. Occasionally he'll walk with a walker, but most of them when we stand him up to it, he refuses to straighten his body and starts yelling. If nothing else, we know the kid has killer abs. But it's incredibly frustrating. I feel like he's SO FAR behind and I don't really know what to do about it. When we asked the ped, he told us to just stand him up in the middle of the room and let go. Um, no, and thanks for your help.

He waves, but it takes a bit of prompting. If you ask for a kiss, he leans into your face, sometimes with his mouth wide open. He can tell you what a monkey says ("ahh-ahh!") and sometimes will tell you what Padfoot (our cat) says ("ah-owww!"). He is INCREDIBLY vocal, and says "Mama" and "Da" fairly regularly, though I'm not sure if he's actually assigned meaning to them, yet. He seems to have started saying "Da" when he sees Hubs, so maybe?
