Just wondering what others have in terms of keepsakes/special items you plan to save and hand off to your kids in the future?
How do you store them?

Of my son's? I have his quilt from his crib bedding set and some of his clothing. I will frame one piece in a shadow box, the other stuff will eventually be made into a lap quilt or somthing like that.
I have one dress from when I was a baby, I have it mounted and framed in a shadow box. My mom gave me my going home from the hospital outfit, but I have since stored it so well I can't find it.
eta: I see what you mean now....He'll inherit everything we have, he's an only child. He's told me that he likes my circle ring (engagement ring), so of course he'll get that when the time comes, if he still wants it.
My husband has purchased some gold coins for him, they're a traditional gift for newborns in his home country, so he'll get those as well.

I have been trying to make sure I have all my stuff listed!
I have two daughters...
1) Dresses: DD1 was baptized in my "home from the hospital" dress which was also my moms "home from the hospital" dress. DD2 was just baptized in one of my mothers dresses - no connection to me directly.
2) Dishes: I have a tea set for each girl. One was my great aunts and one was my moms.
3) Stockings: I am making each girl a Christmas stocking.
4) Jewelry: my grandma (so girls great grandma) has gifted each girl a piece of jewelry. DD1 got her original sapphire from her upgrade wedding ring from my grandpa (DD was born in September). DD2 just received a cocktail ring from her at her baptism. I cried when I opened both gifts.
I also have some blankets from when DH and I were babies, I'll divy them up. And of course some hand made things for each of the girls by their Grammy (my mom).
I think I may get Nicer platic totes to keep them in...different than the ones I keep run of the mill clothes in. That way as DD2 outgrows clothes I can easily throw the "special pieces" I plan to keep for them into these nicer bins so they are separate and never any confusion (accidentally thrown out/donated).

I have a small wooden box with LO's stuff. There are ultrasound pics, her bracelet and little hat from the hospital, her birth announcement, an unset gem (her birthstone), some coins from the year she was born (given to her by my dad), and I just recently put in a lock of hair from her first haircut (she is 3! haha). I don't like to save clothes or anything large, so that will probably be it, in addition to her baby book. I also save our holiday cards each year but that's more of a family thing.

We are going to look at making blankets out of our favorite onesies - I have seen this on etsy and think we have enough to make 2 blankets (1 for each of my boys). DH has kept a few things from the hospital in one of the gift boxes we got from our showers.

Last week I sent a request to the White House so soon he will have a birth greeting from the Obamas. You can do up to a year after your child's birth.
I saved his hospital name announcement, birth announcement, first foot prints, the identification card that was on his hospital bassinet, and both of our ID bracelets. I even have his umbilical stump, but that may get lost by the time he's interested in looking back at his baby years. These are all in our file folder.
I am saving all of the clothes I like to create a keepsake quilt. This will probably be years in the making so the quilt may be big enough for a queen bed. He was gifted a personalized blanket and a handmade quilt that I will definitely save.
We are minimalists at heart, but there are some special items I will keep that made him happy like his first real toy- a Fox stuffed lovey. Anything leftover from childhood- clothes/ toys/ stuff will eventually get packed in a plastic bin and stored.
