DH and I are going to go on a 2 week trip to Europe without our daughter. I have never been as an adult. I think we want to visit 5 cities for 3 days each or 4 cities for 4 days.
What is the best airport to fly into for easy transit to other countries? (I know it depends on which countries we want to visit) Is there more than one train company? Transportation once we are there is my biggest concern.
And for the fun part. The only place I know I want to visit is Paris. DH wants to go to London. We enjoy sightseeing and eating but would also be interested in going to a waterfront location. I would love to go to Santorini I'm just not sure if it is feasible because of the location. Where did you love visiting and why?
Any other tips? We will be going in the spring/early summer.
DH and I went to Venice in April and stayed close to St. Mark square. It was a very romantic trip. We took a motoscafi (water limo taxi) into the city and it was so fun to wander with just two of us, including the gondola at Rialto bridge at sunset. For everything else it is the ferry. Each stop is walkable and explorable. We flew in through Paris-that's a good hub. Also aside from Venice, London and Paris, I highly recommend Florence-the David sculpture is breakthtaking. We did an overnighter there so if you want a 3 day multi/close city trip-you can do Venice two nights and Florence 1 night. That worked well!
My mom just came back from Spain and Portugal and loved it. She kept saying I had to go there.
