Brookstone had kinetic sand on display with a bunch of accessories- a sand box, shape molds, and idea book. I want to get kinetic sand for my 7 yr old God son. For those familiar with the toy, which accessories are really necessary?

My 2 year old just buries and digs up some small animals in it! We have no accessories - I put it in a small (tiny) tote thing for storage. Older kids may want some tools but really you can get it all cheaper!
We got the box of kinetic sand (NOT cra-z-sand) at target for $14. You could buy cookie cutters or something at joanns

@sorrycharlie: how many pounds would you suggest? I just filled my Amazon cart with 2.2lbs of Waba Fun Kinetic Sand. The 7 yr old has an 8 yr old bro that I'm hoping will want to play with this too. After seeing the stand in the store, I'm now trying to do one gift this year.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: most toys that you would use with play doh can be used i think. 2 lbs sounds like plenty!

I don't think too much sand is necessary. I found that this set is perfect (actually has too many accessories, but I think it'll grow with her).
