DS was born 10/19
He was in NICU for 4 days where he was given a bottle, from then on nursing has been a huge struggle, he HATED it! Couldn't latch without a shield and even that was hit or miss!
Ultimately I gave in and gave bottles but nursed or tried to as much as he would tolerate!
This past week at 6 weeks he has latched with no shield and has 2-3 great sessions a day!!!!
Just wanted to say it CAN get better!!!!! I am so excited! Love nursing my babes!!!

@FaithFertility: YES!!! I love hearing these stories!! My daughter was a late nurser, as well. I thought our relationship was going to be all pump to bottle feed and eventually we made it work, as well. I think it was around that 6 week mark. Congratulations! Maybe there's something magic about that 6 week mark.

@faithfertility so awesome. Congratulations mama. I didn't go through this, but it makes me SO happy to see people who really perservere and stick it out with nursing when it's probably easier just to give up. You are doing a great thing for your baby, way to go on all your hard work!!! What a wonderful feeling that must be.

YAY!!! Congratulations on making it work!!! That is fantastic! Nursing is so hard to begin with - I can't imagine having the added issues of a NICU stay and bottle feeding to start. So glad you guys are starting to get the hang of it.

@Faithfertility I'm so glad you shared this and things are getting better. Congrats on sticking with it mama! I had the exact same issue and was absolutely devastated. Around 2-3 weeks I turned a corner and was shield-free around 5 weeks. The shield was a super helpful crutch!
