I saw that you could use a seam ripper to get those tiny rubber bands out of your childs hair - worked great!!!

Didn't learn any but I taught another mom about "juice box ears." Basically pulling up the flaps on the sides of the juice box so LO can hold the box without squeezing the juice all over the place.

I just learned about glitter calming bottles; totally making one!

@Mamaof2: OK That is an AWESOME hack! Heck yes I need to try this.
@snowjewelz: same here! I have all the stuff but haven't made it yet. Maybe this weekend.
Mine isn't kid related. But I just had a pinterest success of something I randomly stumbled across on there. My plates and dishes were getting those dark marks (Ivory porcelain). I could not get them off. Thought it was just getting to be about time to get a new set which I was so sad about. I LOVE the set I have. But powdered bar keeper made into a paste, scrub with a sponge (Not even much scrubbing needed) and they came right off and look brand new. So very, very happy.

@Rescuemom10: Oo, if you remember, let me know how it goes! I'm the complete opposite from DIY and I suck at everything, but I figured this is not that hard for a newbie...

Mine have been relearning simple commands - like cut, paste, undo, and pasting something as a simple text versus having it paste with its original formatting. Saves time on a laptop but not really newsworthy

@Rescuemom10: like the marks from silverware cutting on the plates?? I have to try this! All our plates have those lines and I just figured it is what it is.
I've got nothing- I'm just going to learn from you guys.

Not new, but my favorite seasonal hack is using baby powder to clean up sandy kids.

Not super new but I learned here about how you can use a combo of vinegar and dish soap as a cleaner. This stuff worked great on my tub! I was already using it as a weed killer (also works great).

I randomly grated some carrots into boxed macaroni and cheese. My mother in law happened to be there to witness and I swear she now thinks I am gods gift to parenting (spoiler:I'm not). Prior to the carrot incident I believe she thought I was letting my child play with knives and run through the streets naked and alone.

Not new, but probably the best Pinterest hack I found that works.
Got cats? Got carpet or a cat tree? Use the squeegee to scrape the fur where you can vaccuum it up!!

@Mamaof2: Thanks! Will need to do this. We buy the cheapie elastic bc they are easy to break.

@Rescuemom10: oh! I have that issue with my ivory plates too- gonna try that - thanks!!

Two of them:
1 - If I peel the background off a sheet of stickers, my 2 year old can get the stickers off the page by herself. Saves me from constant "mama help me get the pony sticker off!" cries all day long.
2 - Old burp cloths make excellent cleaning rags. It's also sort of a funny sweet reminder of her babyhood every time I wipe down the counters.

@rattles: baby powder to clean up sandy kids? could you elaborate please...we live in a beach community and I'm totally interested

@catlady: I'm going to Target to buy my dawn soap and vinegar today! I haven't cleaned my tub since I got pregnant, soooo... This needs to happen!

@Ajsmommy: Just sprinkle baby power onto sandy legs and feet and brush off. It soaks up the moisture so the sand just comes right off!

@Littlebit7: I cracked up reading this! I had a similar experience with my MIL on recent beach trip when I mixed tuna and avocado together and DS ate the entire bowl of "tunacado."

@Littlebit7: That is genius, I'm so doing that!
My favorite hack I've ever learned is to shred chicken in my kitchen aid mixer. It's seriously life changing.

@psw27: I hate shredding chicken so this could be life changing! Do you just use the normal paddle mixer attachment?
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Littlebit7: we do that with zucchini and yellow squash too - if you use the small holes on the graters the blends right in and it's pretty tasteless. I do it in omelets, fried rice, pretty much anything!

@Shantuck: Yup, just toss the chicken/pork in with the paddle on low and it shreds it perfectly!! I hateeeee shredding with forks!
