I remember when I was little I would go to the library all the time. I even had to get a new library card because mine got worn out! It doesn't seem like anyone goes to the library anymore though.
Do you still go to the library? Will you take your LO to the library when they are old enough?

I used to live at the library during the summer! I will definitely be taking my kids to the library. We'll be hanging out at bookstores too.

I loved the library!! Hopefully my kids will love books as much as I do and will enjoy trips to the library the way I did. These days everything is electronic that a lot of kids i see have electronic readers and seem to be losing touch with actual books

When we move into Cincinnati city limits, we'll definitely be visiting the library! (My LO is just about 4 months old, so no need yet) I loved going to the library and I definitely want to share that joy, but our libraries where I live here are TERRIBLE!

Its so sad! We don't have a book store, and they have been talking about closing our library! I'm glad that so many people still go to the library though, and will take their kids!

I don't go now, but I definitely plan to take my lo when she's a little older. I used to love story hour, so I'm impatiently waiting for that. We do already go get some library cards.

I love the library, even getting married in a library! Even though I don't go as often as I used to, I will def be taking my LO. Oh and I also love the fact that you can borrow Kindle books from the library now too!

Where do you live? That is sad that they might close it. We have been to the library many times with my daughter. Story time is great and they have toys she can play with so it's a place to hang out. The other weekend I was there with her for 2 hours. I love great, free entertainment for my toddler!

I go to the library all the time and plan to continue when I have children. I love it because I can browse for a book on the catalog and if it isn't in my local library they will send it. I love the smell of the library too. And my library has a used bookstore inside of it that I go to a lot as well.

I loved the library and we will definitely be taking our LO to storytimes and to get books. One of Hubs' favorite memories was walking to the library with his mom and sister.

Our local library hosts lots of baby and toddler events during the week, so I imagine if I'm a SAHM, I'll be taking her all the time, if not, then we'll go once in a while. Got to love free/cheap opportunities to hang out with new kids. We might both make new friends.

my parents took my sister and me to the library on the weekends all the time. we would spend all afternoon there. i also remember stopping by the bookmobile on the way home from school. i would love to take our kids to the library.

I haven't been inside a library in probably 5 years...with a Kindle, I can get books 24 hours a day and don't have to worry about returning them.
Don't get me wrong, I like the library for research and stuff, but I like to own my books because I tend to read them again. I wonder about the fate of libraries as my son gets older, I don't think that just bringing him to the library is enough to foster a love of reading.

@Rosie Girl: that is so sad to hear that it seems like no one goes to your library!! I love the library and could spend hours in there reading books. I wish people would respect the noise level in libraries, though. It seems like some parents think it's a gymboree or something. Anyways, we will definitely be taking our kids to the library! They have great kids programs they can get involved in and I think it's important to instill a love of books early. To do this, why not take them to a magical place where all of the books are FREE!?

I LOVE going to the library. My brother and I used to go on the Sunday before each "week long" break from school to borrow as many as we could to read throughout the break. (Our parents owned their own business and couldn't travel/vacation much).
There was actually a petition to close down my hometown's library a few years ago. Luckily, the voters decided to pay extra taxes to keep it open this past year... it makes me sad to see such a valuable resource not used in th e community.

I rarely went to the library but loved reading as a kid. I loved book stores and such. I have already got a library card and take my LO 1-2 times weekly to get new books. I can't wait until she's old enough to go to storytime
