I just laugh at this because it has changed for my kids so much. As a baby, everyone used to say that LO1 looked exactly like DH. Now she's 3 and people say she looks exactly like me. In reality, she is a decent mix of both of us, but also has features all her own (her hair is much lighter than either of ours). Also, LO2 looks almost exactly the same as LO1 when she was his age, but people rarely notice that. In fact, nobody says anything at all about LO2 looking like either me or DH or LO1. It's weird.

I used to get really annoyed by that question. LO1 could be DH's clone (or whatever a clone of the opposite sex would be). I heard it all the time. LO2 looks less like DH but still has his exact coloring (fair, redhead). I thought LO1 had my toes and I reacted strongly when SIL claimed the toes as her family's too.

It bothers me less now that DD is 4 and is more of her own person.

Haha those comments don't bother me as much as people telling me my girls look like twins. I think they look very different. I know some of it is just because I know how different their personalities are. I think they are obviously sisters but aren't even close to looking like twins, they have very different features. But I don't think too much about it usually

Lo1 looks exactly like my husband- features, coloring, even have the same shape of toes! Seriously if you put a beard on her they would look like twins hahaha. People comment on it constantly still even though she is 3.5! My response is "Well good thing I think DH is cute!". Lo2 looks a lot like me as a baby, but she has DH's coloring (bright red hair) so people tend to think she looks like him also. I don't really think it matters. I'm absolutely certain both girls are mine lol.

When my kids were babies I hated it when people would say they looked exactly like my husband or sister in law. I felt I just did so much work and now my husband and his family get all the credit. I don't mind it as much now, but now I always tell new moms their baby looks just like them

It doesn't bother me but maybe that's because most strangers tell me she looks exactly like me I actually think she looks most like my mom.

People tell us all the time that DS looks exactly* like DW. Which is hilarious because they are not related. I am happy though, because we were mindful of choosing a donor that resembled her so hopefully DS would grow up looking like both of us!

Yes people have a strong opinion that it's one or the other but DH and I have been asked if we are siblings many times sooooo

I used to get it with dd1 ALL the time thaI she looked like DH- but she does. As she's gotten older it's not quite only him but she really does look way more like him, so I don't mind. DD2 on the other hand is all me. I think they barely look like sisters. So now I just make a joke that we each got one.

@Smurfette: it's funny- the kid that looks just like DH said mama first by several months. The kid that looks like me said dada first by months.

@Mrs. Sunshine: I don't think your girls look like twins at all! Definitely sisters though.

I never really know how to answer this question. If someone comments who knows DD is donor conceived I tell them she looks like a clone of her genetic mom. She really does! It's amazing. I hear that she looks like me all the time from strangers though. She does favor me a little. Maybe it's epigenetics or maybe it's because we are both fair skinned with light hair and blue eyes.

I don't mind it, I think it's interesting how it changes over the years!

I don't mind. My son looks a lot like me, minus his eye color, and my daughter looks SO much like my DH. She has the same eyes, coloring, even the cleft chin! People say she looks like me, but I barely see it.

I didn't used to get annoyed when LO was a tiny babe. I was happy everyone thought he looked like my husband. But the more the grew the more he looked like me compared to baby pics. Now when people say he looks like my husband I tell them "well actually he looks just like me in baby pictures". My husband just looks like a child apparently. (That's what I tell myself anyways)

So far I haven't gotten too many comments about them looking like either of us, but EVERY.SINGLE.TIME we are out, I get asked if they're twins. Um. No. They are, in fact, different races.

It would drive me crazy because when they're tiny they don't really look like anything. They don't look a person for awhile in my opinion. My MIL drove me crazy when DD was first born saying she had blue eyes when it was obvious she had brown eyes.

@alphagam84: My mom did that too! Obviously brown, right from the start...?!

@littlejoy: A woman called me LO1's babysitter once and he is not adopted and we are not biracial or anything. He just really looks like his dad! It is annoying no matter the circumstances!

@wrkbrk: Yeah. I guess people's brains just see two kids close in age, like obviously closer than siblings could be, and assume. We are not supposed to disclose that they are foster kids if it can be avoided, so I try to just say "no" and move on. Doesn't usually work though. I've had numerous people say, "well, how did THAT happen?" Really??
