I'm right there with you. This came up in my first tri bloodwork and contributed to a high risk screen for Downs. Later NIPT testing showed everything there was normal.
My OB said in her experience there's some minor issue with the placenta when this comes up. She's not very concerned. I'll have an additional scan at MFM at around 30 weeks. I'm only 16 weeks now.

@snowjewelz: I have the anatomy scan in a couple of weeks so now I'm interested to see if they will give an update on the Papp-a levels then. Baby has been measuring right on track (a day ahead usually) so far!

I had low PAPP-A - my dr basically said its nothing to worry about, dd was born healthy at 41 weeks 1 day.

@snowjewelz: I also have low papp-a levels, I found out at my 12 week nuchal translucency scan. They said I would have growth scans every 4 weeks to make sure everything was on track. They also said I might want to take a baby aspirin every day - has anyone heard that? Apparently tests are inconclusive as to whether it actually does anything, so I'm kind of inclined to skip it.

I had my 16 week early anatomy scan today, and I asked the doctor about his experiences with patients that have low papp-a. He said more than 95% of the time it's absolutely fine, so that was reassuring.

@MrsA: I asked at my 12-week appointment if they re-test to see if papp-a levels improve, and they said it's just a first trimester test they do once - not sure if that's the case everywhere though.

@snowjewelz: I only found out about the Papp-a level because it contributed to a screen positive for Downs. I doubt they would have mentioned it otherwise!
@Beehive: that's good to know! We have our anatomy scan on 9/12 so I guess they'll check the placenta and growth again then.
