@dagret: SO glad to see the antibiotics are working. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that no other treatments will be necessary.

@dagret: sounds like you do have an amazing pediatric practice!!! I'm so sorry baby Leo is going through this but very very happy the antibiotics are working so well for him so far. Thinking of you both today!!!!!

Thanks everyone...
The hospital pediatrician says the culture from his nipple will take 24-48 hrs to get back, so they will likely keep him overnight again-they don't want to send him home until they know the antibiotics are strong enough to get rid of the bacteria. Still expecting to see the pediatric surgeon later today, but as of now it looks great- you can't tell a difference between his baby moobs now.

@dagret: That's really great news! Hope the culture comes back with good results! Poor little guy, how's he holding up? like a champ I bet.

@.twist.: he's doing much better. He was awake yesterday from 9 a-130 pm and I thought he was just being fussy- now I know why. He is sleeping better today and his appetite seems to be creeping back.

Ugh, since we started antibiotics at midnight last night we aren't likely to be discharged till Friday at the earliest. I am so sick of the hospital.

@dagret: Sorry to hear! We had to spend 4 extra days in the hospital just to wait for a test and by the 4th day I just started crying because I wanted so badly to just take my baby home! I know it's super shitty, but try your best to stay positive! I'm thinking about you and your LO!

@dagret: poor guy! My LO actually developed on abscess on her arm when she was 3 weeks old and had to do IV antibiotics too with a 2 night stay in the hospital. They poked it with a needle to aspirate it and then she was on a 10 day course of oral antibiotics. It went away pretty quickly and now looks like it was never there! Don't worry mama. Your LO will be aOK! Big hugs!!

@dagret: Yahoo! Unfortunately, sometimes it takes a long time to get the paperwork filled and and to you so that you can go. I hope yours is quick!
