@Arden: I've also experienced some cramping. Now that I'm 7 weeks, I don't seem to experience it as much, but every so often, I'll experience some intense cramping that lasts a couple seconds before going away (usually when I stand up quickly or something). I've heard cramping early in the pregnancy is normal - it's everything just making room for the fetus. When is your first appointment?

Cramping is definitely normal! My doctor said it's more likely to happen on the side that I ovulated from/implanted on, although I haven't found that to be the case...I get pains on both sides, not as often now (I'm 7 weeks, 2 days). My bladder hurt for awhile yesterday when I held it too long--all kinds of fun treats going on in the stomach area!

@Adira: I have a consultation/birth center tour on Thursday, but I don't think they will be doing an examination. They'll probably set my first "real" appointment for when I'm 8 weeks or so... idk?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: Yeah, that sounds about right. My first one is next week (8 weeks), but ultrasound isn't until the following week. My guess is that the cramping you're experiencing is normal, but if it gets really intense or you notice any bleeding, then you should definitely call your doctor.

Sooo, had another doctor appointment today and got bumped up a few days! Due date is Feb 28 and and am 7 weeks, 6 days today. I guess I could very easily be a Feb or March mom, so maybe I'll stalk both boards! I think we might tell our parents this weekend, which is kind of surreal.
After 2 transvaginal ultrasounds, my best advice is 1) empty your bladder first--they'll probably ask you to do that anyway, and 2) wear a pantiliner--they lube up the wand a whole lot and it oozes out for awhile afterward...TMI but good to know!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@tororojo: That IS good to know! Thanks for the advice! And congratulations on being almost 8 weeks! That's very exciting!!! Glad everything is looking good for you!
Even though your EDD is February, I suspect you'll still be a March Momma!

@tororojo: Thanks for the advice. I will try and remember that when I have one. I hopefully will get an ultrasound scheduled tomorrow at the doctor.

I just back to work from the doctor. All it was the took a urine sample, blood, and she did a quick exam. Said that my cervix looked good, and that my uterus was growing nicely. They will call me with the blood results. They gave me a EDD of March 17th for right now. The best part is we scheduled the ultrasound for Friday, Aug 3rd. I will be almost 8 weeks. They wanted to do it the next week but DH has training out of state all week that he can't miss. And I really want/need him there, of course he feels the same. Starting to feel a little more real that there is a baby growing inside of me.

@Smurfette: Ooooh, soooo exciting!!! That was actually a lot like my appointment this morning. They took a urine sample, blood, and did an exam and said my cervix looked good. She didn't mention whether my uterus was growing nicely or not - can they tell without doing a scan?
Yay!!! Ultrasound!!! That's sooooo exciting!!! My first one is supposed to be on the 30th, but I have a viability scan tomorrow. I don't know if it will be the same as the one on the 30th or not, but it's still kind of exciting!
I hope the wait until August 3rd goes by really quickly for you!!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: She just felt with her hand about the uterus. I bet you are just going to get a bonus ultrasound tomorrow and then on the 30th. I hope the wait goes by really fast for me too! At least it is only 2 weeks away!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Oh, okay! My nurse did that too but she didn't say anything about it really. Just that everything seemed fine. I hope it's growing nicely like yours!
Yeah, two weeks will FLY by (hopefully)!

So I went to my consultation/tour today, and I LOVE the birth center.
Seriously, it was even better than I had hoped. Beautiful place, relaxing, homey, comforting, seriously gorgeous. I had seen pictures but they didn't do it justice.
My first appointment is scheduled for August 20, which is kind of a long time, but she said there isn't much they can do before that. I'm already on prenatals and I don't want to do a dating ultrasound, so there's no real point to start seeing me until I'm 9-10 weeks.
So, I've got to wait.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Arden: Glad that you liked the center. I hope the time flies by for you until your appointment!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Arden: Oooh, that's exciting!!! Glad you really liked the birthing center! And I think it's pretty normal not to have an appointment until later. My first "official" appointment is tomorrow (I'm 8 weeks today) with my ultrasound scheduled for next week.

Our local hospitals don't do tours anymore I'm so disappointed! I guess DH and I are reviewing hospitals online tonight and just making our best guess?! Or taking casual walks around hospitals this weekend maybe?! LOL!
@Arden: I'm so excited for you about the birthing centre!!! And jealous!!! LOL!

I'm so ready for my boobs to stop being sore! Anyone else?
We haven't had an u/s yet... But we might get to hear baby's heart on Thursday! My progesterone is coming up nicely (33 yesterday, up from 9 at my first visit!)
@Arden: So jealous of your birthing center! We live in a tiny town and there's one hospital here. If I end up being high risk, I may deliver in a neighboring town, but there's still only one choice.
Hey, does anyone else feel like they have a bump yet? I was about 15 lbs. overweight anyway, and it's my second. But I'm definitely feeling like I have a bump and Hubby said I've started waddling (really?!)
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@brownsquirrel: Yes!! I am wearing two sports bras at the gym cause they hurt so much. Over it, I get mad every time DH touches them.
I gained some weight after stopping the pill, so I have a little gut before. Now it looks normal in the morning but by the afternoon and night it is so bad. I look like I have gained 10 lbs. I do like to rub it at night and tell the baby to keep growing. I am only 6 weeks, I don't know how I am suppose to wait till 13 or 12 weeks to tell people!

@Smurfette: I get mad every time Hubby touches mine too. Unfortunately, they are his favorite...
I'm 8w4d. My scrub pants are so miserably uncomfortable. And I spend all day yanking them up. The tops don't fit at all, my boobs have run out of room!
I'm slowly telling people, but I feel like I'm jinxing myself since I lost the last one at 10w2d.

All right, I'm feeling like it's time to join this board I'm cautiously optimistic about this pregnancy after a MC in February and hoping for a sticky STICKY baby!
EDD: March 25, 2013
How far along?: 5 weeks 2 days
How long TTC: Since October 2011
First child?: Yes
Any feeling about boy/girl: Don't care either way- but have been calling it "he"... who knows!
First doctor's appointment: August 2nd- really hoping to see a heartbeat- I feel like it's the only thing that will calm my nerves at all.
How do you feel?/Symptoms so far: All over the board. I have cramping (sometimes pretty strong) at night usually and my breasts are tender on and off. I've just recently started feeling sick if I don't eat something small every couple hours and I am WAY emotional.
Who have you told?: My parents and sister (who is 13 weeks pregnant!) as well as my two best friends. DH won't tell anyone until we HEAR a heartbeat.... he's a little hesitant, obviously:)
Looking forward to getting to know you all better!

@MrsLMA: Welcome!! I have my first ultrasound on Aug 3rd, and I am with you, until I hear/see a heartbeat nothing is going to calm my nerves.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsLMA: Congratulations!!!! That's sooooooo exciting to be pregnant again! Hopefully this one STICKS!!!! My doctor told me that we should eat every 3 hours and drink lots of water - that should help with the nausea.
@brownsquirrel: I've heard that you get the bump a LOT sooner with your second, so congrats!!
I was overweight to begin with (20ish pounds), so I don't really feel like I have a bump at all. But I'm BLOATED, so I LOOK bigger. Hubs asked me the other day "Are you supposed to be showing yet?" "Umm... no." His response: "Oh, so you're just getting fat?" What a jerk! hahaha. I haven't gained any weight yet, but I definitely am looking chubbier. NOT a fan!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: @MrsLMA: I completely agree! I want to HEAR the heartbeat and then I'll be able to tell people and stop worrying! The nurse I spoke with yesterday though told me we wouldn't be able to hear it until 12+ weeks though.
cherry / 167 posts
@Aidra and @Smurfette: glad I'm not alone in the need to hear a heartbeat! Just seeing it next week (HOPEFULLY!) will make me feel better.
Good to know about eating every three hours- that IS just about the time that I start feeling nauseous. I'd say that I'm about 10 lbs heaveier than I want to be (usually am) so I'm with you guys on feeling bigger, but no belly.
@Brownsquirrle: I've heard that with #2 people show a lot earlier too..... your body already has the "path" paved and can get there quicker. I'd actually prefer to be showing instead of just looking bloated and chubby!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@MrsLMA: I heard you on the wishing I was showing and not just looking like I ate three burritos for dinner. We have to go to a pool party Sat afternoon. Super excited about being in a bathing suit with a bunch of girls that 1)were already a lot skinner then me 2) aren't pregnant and bloated. I think I am going to have to hit up Target for tankini top.
I have been so hungry the last couple days and it is really bad in the AM.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes! Tankinis are your friend! I'm going to a lake on Saturday as well, but luckily I'm just hanging out with my best friend who's overweight like me, so we feel comfortable with each other, haha.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: I am jealous of that! Maybe I will just stay in the water the whole time so my tummy isn't out in the open. I am sad that I can't get in the hot tub!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes! Just stay in the water! That's a great way to hide yourself!
Oh my gosh, I'm totally bummed about the hot tub. I'm going on a white water rafting trip in a couple weeks, and my doctor told me I couldn't actually go, so I'll be just chilling at the camp site/lodge while all my friends go rafting (*sob*) AND there's a hot tub there, but I won't be able to use it!!! Booo! Guess I'll be bringing a book for the weekend.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I know!!! We went once last year and it was sooooooooo much fun!!! BUT, I'm not toooo bummed about it. When we bought the tickets, I was actually thinking "I hope by buying these now, I won't be able to go because I'll be pregnant." And now I am! So if the $70 rafting ticket is the reason I got pregnant, it was money well spent!

@MrsLMA: Sending you lots of happy sticky baby thoughts!!! Welcome to the March board!
@Adira: I'm feeling ridiculously bloated and big too My boobs are officially too big to fit in one of my favourite summer "around the house" dresses. Yikes!
@brownsquirrel: A girlfriend of mine is pregnant with #2 and she DEFINITELY popped earlier this time, but she looks fabulous!
@Smurfette: Waiting to tell people is killing me!!!!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Mousie: Oh boooo!!! Sorry your favorite summer dress isn't working out for you anymore! My husband actually commented about how my boobs look like they are getting bigger, but really... I think only one of them is!!! I always had lopsided boobs before, but now it's even worse!!!

I agree with you ladies that I'm really anxious to hear/see the heartbeat. My ultrasound will be 8/16, at 9.5 weeks, so I have some time until then. Gotta stay busy, but it's constantly on my mind!

@Adira: Oh no!! That sucks! I keep wondering just HOW big these are going to get once my milk comes in later?! I moved up to a D cup yesterday!!!
I just booked our first U/S for Monday evening Yay! I have butterflies!!!

@Mrs. Mousie: So exciting!! About the ultrasound not your boobs

@Smurfette: LOL! I don't know, ask DH which one he's more excited about an you might get a different answer, LOL!!!

@Mrs. Mousie: I graduated to an E Monday.... They are going to be hanging to my knees when my milk comes in!
