March 2013 Mommas!

@cheert16: Xander and I are doing well, thanks for asking! My stitches are bothering me, but other than that, physically I'm fine. Baby and I are still trying to figure out breastfeeding though!

@NaturallyCathy: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I was thinking about you - so happy for you and your family!!!! Can't wait for the pictures!

@katiew92081: My MIL came and cleaned our house - it was so helpful! I originally didn't want her over, but she was really great. She even cooked us dinner, haha. I hope things with your MIL work out.

@sheskrafty: I don't think mine is going to make her appearance until after her due date. Little stinker already! I am not sure I can take 2-3 weeks more of this back pain and feeling like a beached whale when in bed. DH started laughing at me last night when I tried to roll over. I told him to shut it!

@katiew92081: We installed our last night. We totally did it backwards at first. DH said I think this is the first of many things we are going to do wrong. I think I am going to make an appointment at a local fire house so they can inspect it, cause DH pulled it as tight as he can, but it seems to still be able to move side to side to me. I got in my car this morning and what as like what the heck is in the back seat, so weird having a car seat back there!

@smurfette: Yeah, driving to the birth center today, I kept being thrown off by the carseat in the corner of my eye, lol.

As far as getting it tight...have dh kneel ON the carseat in the car and pull the straps. The weight of him will give him slack to pull. Once he's off, the thing won't budge. Don't worry, it won't hurt the carseat.

Midwife appointment was good. All my swelling and blood pressure is down. In fact, I lost 4 pounds in the last 3 days, just by peeing out all that swelling.

Baby is rightthere. Head at the door. Have no idea about dilation, but midwife said that from all the discomfort and cramping I'm having, I'm probably dilated.

Baby is measuring past 40 weeks, though, and I'm not sure what that really means for me. Labor could start at any minute, pretty much!

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@katiew92081: It won't move at the back where the belt is but the front is where it moves a little. I called the fire house and they said to just come by tonight and as long as the truck is there, they will take a look at it. I am sure it is fine, more of DH and I being paranoid about nothing.

Great news that your swelling and BP is down. So exciting baby is ready to make her arrival!!

  6. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: The nurses told us that it's normal for the back of the car seat base (where it's not belted) to be able to move. It's actually supposed to be able to move a little to help absorb the impact of a crash. It's the part that's belted that's not supposed to move at all (or at least less than an inch).

  7. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: oh good, that makes me feel better. I didn't see it moving around this morning when I was driving and took turns, so maybe we actually did it right!

  8. Adira

@Smurfette: Yeah, I bet you're fine! I was nervous too until I asked the nurses about it at the hospital!

@Smurfette: I'm totally stressed about our car seat too. We installed it yesterday and I was like "But what if we did something wrong and our child gets KILLED because of us?!?!"

DH had to talk me down.
I'm going to run by BRU on our way to the airport to pick up my mom tomorrow, because they are supposed to have safety technicians there who will check it for you.

@NaturallyCathy: CONGRATULATIONS!!! Our first March baby born in March, AND a girl with strawberry golden locks? Can't wait to hear the name and see a pic! She sounds delish! I LOVE the birth-date too! I was actually looking forward to that birthday if I did have to get induced yesterday.

@katiew92081: Oh, sorry to hear you are feeling crampy and your DH is sick. Hopefully things speed up and baby comes out this week and your MIL doesn't drive you too crazy.

@sheskrafty: Ah! You are in the "other" TWW wait now! I know I felt sooo anxious once I hit the 2 week mark from DD. Good luck!

@Adira: Hopefully the pain from stitches subside soon and BFing gets easier.

@Arden: I know Dh was so whatevers about installing the carseat and monitors until this weekend! I had installed one base in his car, but it was moving around, so he had his friend check and re-do it for him yesterday while I was taking a nap. And then he was down to business setting up the monitors for the nursery.

Thanks for all the support this weekend with my low AFI and hospital stay. It was the worst night of sleep! I complain about how uncomfortable it's been to sleep for months, but the bed in the L&D room I was staying was horrible! And if I turned or moved, the HB monitor would not pick up the signal right and/or I'd get all tangled with the IV. The IV was downright uncomfortable and painful because they couldn't get it in right until the 3rd try (which ended up being in the wrist joint of my right hand). Came home in the afternoon, took a nap, went out to dinner for my BFF's bday, and went back to sleep. Trying to clean a little bit this morning around the house before I go back to the hospital for my NST fetal monitoring today. The nurse told me to "expect to stay" every time I go there now. They tend to like to keep you there and I'm so close to my DD they could induce me anytime. I'm honestly not opposed to being induced anymore. At least I feel prepared.
    * Oh! And I think I lost (at least part of) my mucous plug last night! I'm not exactly sure since I went to pee and there was a LOT of thick, white and slightly pinkish, stringy globs in the toilet. But when I Google-imaged mucous plugs, it usually looks like one thick, big clump. So, not sure.... but I *think* it was it. Nothing else since then.

  12. Dandelion

@shopaholic: Oh yes, that sounds like a mucous plug!

  13. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: Sounds like a mucus plug to me! You can lose it in parts. I had my biggest piece last week, and then some again over the weekend.

  14. Arden

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@shopaholic: Sounds like part of your mucous plug. You might continue to lose pieces over the next couple of days.

  15. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@shopaholic: Ugh, sorry about your hospital stay being so miserable! And that sucks about the IV - that thing is painful going in - I can't imagine them having to try it a couple times!! And it definitely sounds like your mucus plug to me - mine was like that too - I didn't notice the big booger like thing people always talk about!

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes! I've probably puked 10 times since 2 AM It's now just water (TMI?) Also definitely getting some diarrhea. Nice.

I called the Dr. office and they said it could signal the start of labor, but it could just be my GI tract freaking out because of these stronger Braxton Hicks. Sooooo... that doesn't bode we'll for actual labor! Contractions definitely aren't getting stronger or closer, no water breakage. Basically, just a nasty stomach bug!

I'm just 38 weeks 6 days, so I'm not in a huge rush, but I did get my hope up this morning!

@Adira: so glad to hear things are going well with Xander!!!

@shopaholic: ugh, the only time I've stayed overnight in a hospital, the IV bothered me more than the ruptured ovarian cyst I was admitted for! Hate those things... Happy you're free for now though and doing better.

  17. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: I've definitely read that nausea was a sign of labor (but I've been nauseous on /off the whole pregnancy!)

    * So my update for today is that my NST test went well. HB is good. AFI test was good, I'm up to 8.8 on the fluids now! (Normal for 39 weeks is 5-25 the nurse told me today). So for now, I get to go back home. Finishing up the nursery. Crib skirt should have arrived to my mom's house finally and DH promised to go pick it up for me tonight. Just hanging some more artwork and vacuuming the house. I get to see the OB tomorrow morning. I'm hoping she'll tell me we can go into labor tomorrow because I lost some more bits of mucous plug and I *think* I am getting contractions. I just don't want to go into labor on Wednesday because that is the one day my OB won't come in for deliveries. It's her only day w/out a babysitter for her son, so if I go into labor on Wed. I get another doc from her office. If I'm still not in labor by Thurs. then I go for another NST and AFI monitoring.

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: So you want her to induce you tomorrow?

  19. shopaholic

    bananas / 9973 posts

@Smurfette: Not sure if I actually WANT to be induced...but I have been getting contractions and with more loss of the mucous plug... I'm hoping it will be like I get checked and they will say something like I'm dilated enough to go into labor? IDK. I just really like my OB, and I would rather have her be in labor with me than another OB. My BFF had that experience when she went in for her cervical check, they told her that she was already in early stages of labor and to go straight to the hospital! So maybe something like that?

So at midnight last night I got up and used the bathroom and peed so much I was SURE my water had broken. Yet, here I am, 6 hours later, with nothing to show for it. No water after the fact, either, so I was totally mistaken, lol.

Poor dh...I stressed him out too much about it, and now he's headed to work with very little sleep. I guess from now on, I'll keep it to myself until I know for sure!

Good thing I didn't call the midwife or wake up my mom and ds for it!

  22. Dandelion

@shopaholic: Good luck today with the OB!

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@shopaholic: I hear you on wanting your OB to be the one to deliver. My office has 6 doctors so the odds mine is on call probably isn't good. I am going to ask on Thursday who is on call for the week. Luckily I have had to meet with them all and they all seem nice. Good luck today. Let us know what the doctor says.
@katiew92081: haha, I get up to pee cause I think I am going to pee in my pants and the. I hardly have anything at night. So tired of waking up every hour and half to pee!

  24. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: exactly...there's always so little...especially now that my swelling is down, I thought for sure it must have been my water breaking.

I still feel on the verge of labor, though...can't explain it, really...but I know not to expect anything until labor is happening for real now, lol.

I started having real contractions this morning, but I don't think they mean anything yet. They're all in my back -- they were coming every 15 minutes or so, lasting 30 seconds each. Now they're a little more spread out. I know this could go on for days/weeks, but I'm excited!

  26. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

    @keepcalmcarrie: Ooh...sounds promising!

Don't you hate that nothing is for sure until you're in actual labor? It's driving me crazy to analyze every twinge and cramp! I've been telling LO that these little cramps aren't gonna cut it...she's gonna have to buck up and give me some real stuff! lol

  27. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @keepcalmcarrie: Exciting! Keep us posted.

@katiew92081: I know what you mean. So over looking every time I wipe, wondering if every cramp, tightening means something. Plus I am already sick of everyone asking how I am feeling, anything going on, I call/text and they seem disappointed that I am not calling to say in labor. I know it is only going to get worse, since I am still a week and half from DD.

I just got our car seat inspected and we are good. I brought the firemen some cookies as a thank you. He pulled the belt so tight. He said basically that the part of the car seat that hits the back of the normal seat, shouldn't move back and forth more then an inch. Then you know that you have the belt tight enough. He said that just every once in a while, just pull it tighter and make sure it is good still.

  28. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@smurfette: Exactly! I am even over facebook, cause I don't want to just post "still pregnant" but I know if I'm quiet all day on there, people will start wondering.

    honeydew / 7589 posts

Ugh. My mom was supposed to get here tonight, but her connecting flight was canceled and she's staying in Chicago and won't get here until SUPER late tomorrow night. Now I'm going to have to drive to the airport at like 11PM, and won't get home until 2AM. I'm too pregnant to be dealing with this! lol

I'm going to go have a pity party now.

Quick update from my phone: Still just about 1 cm dilated but 70% effaced. She said the position is good though, more of an anterior position. She did a membrane sweep and said there is like 30% chance of helping things along. It didn't hurt or feel like much at all. But we got scheduled for an induction date of March 18 if baby doesn't come by then.

Feeling extra annoyed today and took it out on DH. Will post more later.

@Arden: sorry for the change in travel plans ... Always an inconvenience but even more so when you're uncomfortable

@shopaholic: it's ok to be annoyed - hopefully your husband understands that it's not personal!

Really quick update: Getting released later this evening. Would have gotten released earlier but baby girl didn't get antibiotics so they have to keep us close to 48 hours. Going to post about her tomorrow hopefully, name and (maybe, have to ask DH's permission) a snapshot. And of course about the labor. Hope everyone's doing well! Miss you all.

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Arden: Could your DH go pick her up so you don't have to be out so late? I am sure she would understand. It does suck though. sorry!!

@shopaholic: Sorry you didn't get the news you wanted. But at least you have an end date. Less then two weeks. I am sure she is going to come before then though.

@NaturallyCathy: Glad y'all are all doing good. Can't wait to hear your story.

    honeydew / 7589 posts

@shopaholic: Glad everything looks good with baby K!

@NaturallyCathy: Awesome, can't wait to hear more about her!

@Smurfette: He could, but I don't want him to because he has to leave for work at 5AM and his job is kind of dangerous and it worries me when he has to go to work on so little sleep. So I'd rather do it myself, since I can sleep in half the day - until my appointment, anyway.

    watermelon / 14206 posts

We all sound so miserable, lol...except you mommas that already had your babies! lol

@shopaholic: I agree, it's nice to have an end date...and it's still far away enough that you have time to go into labor on your own. We're all convinced in this house that I'm just gonna stay pregnant forever, lol

@arden: Did you get your mom? I'd be annoyed about it, too...I hate driving, especially at night!

As for me, dh is coming home early today and we're gonna walk all over the neighborhood. DS's school is across the street, so we'll walk and pick him up this afternoon, too. Even though it's across the street, it's a large campus, so the round trip is at least 1/2 a mile. I'm also gonna clean, clean, clean. This kid has got to budge! lol

DH is hoping we can convince her out today, cause he's already had a rough week at work, and he'd love to have a great reason to take the rest of the week off, lol.

All we can do is try, lol.

Since 10:30, (it's 12:30 now) I've been contracting, but not intense. It's a little hard to time them, cause I only really seem to feel them when they're in the middle of it. I've been walking, eating and drinking through them, and they haven't gone away.

I hope they don't go away!

@katiew92081: I hope they get worse for you!! Do everything you can to keep them up.

@cheert16: I am due in a week and half and I agree, the waiting sucks!! I am such a planner, I hate not knowing when she is going to arrive.

In the meantime, I am popping Tums like crazy lately. I really hope this means she has hair!!
