I was walking through Target the other day and the maternity wear looks exactly like the regular women's wear. It just keeps getting better every year, too.

My MIL brought me a top that she wore in the 80s and her mom wore in the late 50s. It's a short sleeved corduroy with a high neckline and has no shape at all! I'm going to wear it for a photo at some point. I'm glad modern maternity clothes are like normal clothes.

My mom kept saying that she loves how women are now encouraged to celebrate and show off their changing figure. She said in the 70s & 80s when she was expecting it was something to be hidden.

My mom commented on this all the time when I was pregnant! She drew the line when she saw a very pregnant lady in a crop top, though...

I have a photo of my mom, pregnant in the 70s, she's wearing bermuda shorts and a top that would look like she bought it today, with the exception of the color and the print of course. She's standing in an avocado green and mustard yellow kitchen, so she coordinates.
Those clothes do look very 80s though, with the bow at the neck and the puffed sleeves...I have several photos where I am wearing something similar, lol. There wasn't a lot of choice back then!

I definitely wanted to wear a mu-mu at the end of my pregnancy. I also seem to remember Betty Draper looked pretty bangin pregnant in Mad Men! But yeah overall I think fashions have improved for the pg lady.

My BFF was pregnant in 1999 and looking back at what she wore - holy smokes -it was bad 
I had my 1st in 2008 and she was always commenting how lucky I was to have cute maternity clothes!

Ha! My mom told me when she was pregnant with me she bought kits to see in stretchy panels to her jeans /pants (which were high waisted!!)

My mom still has the nightgown she wore for her c-section with me. It's definitely a moo moo kind of thing. Navy and nice looking, but very 80's.
