My husband really wants to take our 2YO to Mosnter Jam type event, too young? I am worried about the sound level, emissions (I am pregnant too) and just the times are not ideal for his schedule. Any thoughts are appreciated!

@gotkimchi so true! My husband even two years into parenthood always wants to try things. I have spent more time carrying and chasing the toddler around concourse for various sporting events. I know boys love trucks but touch a truck events are more my speed . Maybe I will pull the fumes pregnancy card.

We tried a NASCAR event last weekend with our 2.5 year old and he lasted 10 minutes before taking off his ear protection and being over it.

@MACSUNSHINE: at 2 my kids didn’t last long at events designed for kids (we tried Daniel tiger live) so there’s no way they would last/enjoy something like that. That being said I would maybe let him try that as a father son date and then he can see how it goes

Thanks everyone, hoping my husband forgets about it and we go to the local Mary Poppins production as planned (which I know we will leave early).

I would try to see if you can get tickets to attend the pit party. If you're not familiar with it, it's where the drivers and cars are out before the show and you can get photos and autographs. It's pretty fun, having been to several myself now with my 7 year old. First time we went though, was when he was 5 and we didn't need a stroller.

Just a post show update for anyone considering it with a toddler, our son did very well. My husband took him without me and they did arrive probably 30 min late but he made it through the entire show.
He was definitely unsure in the beginning but settled in. I did order an ear protection headset on Amazon which helped immensely. Thanks again for the feedback!

I missed this until now, but a few weeks ago we took our 2.5 and nearly 7yo boys. I think the 2.5yo had more fun than the older on but the older has been a few times. My 2 are definitely "all boy" and LOVE everything that is trucks, cars, dinosaurs, etc.

We took our 4 and 2 year olds to an outdoor monster truck show and they loved it. We didn't stay for the entire thing because it was at night...we made it about an hour. I would do it again!

@MACSUNSHINE: We're planning on going to Monster Jam in our area soon, so I'm glad to hear your son had fun! What ear protection did you end up getting??

I think it depends on your kiddo, my 2yr old back then would have done great, My DS now 16 months I think would last 30 mins lol

I agree it probably depends on the kiddo. We have done basketball and baseball games unsuccessfully but my son does love trucks. I think because of that and all the activity he was totally content to clap and watch. For me, I was not interested in even attempting going for many reasons (he is young, the smell and sound, and the cost, it is not a cheap outing) but my husband wanted to try it and I am glad they did.
@adira I honestly did not research much, I looked for good ratings on Amazon and a set that could arrive Prime fast. Here are the ones he wore, I tried them on and thought I could still hear quite a bit of my car radio (so not loud) definitely muffled but I would have expected them to block more. Although maybe my expectations are off? My husband wore nothing, not even the ear plugs I ran out to get him. He said he should have. Have fun!

@MACSUNSHINE: Thanks! It looks like those got pretty good ratings, so they were probably a good choice.
