Can you pack lunch, prep breakfast and shower the night before?

@macintosh: I totally understand about not showering at night! I (and especially my hair!) do much better with a morning shower. Is eating breakfast on the go possible, or would that be too messy/logistically difficult?

@macintosh: I am excited for this change for you! But getting out the door in the morning is a pain! I am usually on my own in the morning with 2 LOs and we try to leave by 8. I do as much as I can the night before, get up at 5:45 to shower before they get up. This does include nursing the baby twice and having everyone get dressed, fed, teeth brushed, all stuff ready to go.

I promise it gets easier with repetition! Good luck!

@macintosh: You actually can do mini breakfast casseroles (muffin or mini muffin tins) once every few months and just freeze them! Nuke in the morning and good to go. Same with a healthier muffin.
I'm not a cook (I'm not bad, I just hate it) so that's what I do for my LO (more for dinner stuff, but I've done the breakfast casseroles too).

@gingerbebe: is hella organized and has had responses to other threads about how she preps for the next day. Granted, she's not caring for her husband so he helps out, but she still had some good tips that she herself does you may be able to use for yourself. Maybe she can do a copy/paste She has like a 1 week old so she may not be able to reply.

For me, still one LO but 4x a week we both have to be out the door by 9am for a sort of preschool class. I know it's not the same, but some things I do to make it easier:
- I also like to shower in the AM, but I don't always wash my hair. I just can't fit that in all the time. It shaves a lot of time off!
- figure out my outfit the night before
- put together his milk cup and have it in the fridge the night before. When in a hurry I find it annoying to assemble a cup and fill it, for some reason. I did that with his bottles too.
- easy, less messy breakfasts (yogurt pouches, dry Cheerios, frozen waffles, banana, cereal bars). And I don't clean anything up till later. Let it sit!
- I lay out his clothes while he eats so when he's done I can grab him. I even put on his shoes even though I hate for him to wear them in the house. But it's easier to do when I'm dressing him at once than when I'm in the final rush to get out the door and he's refusing to sit still. We don't drive, we use a stroller, but I remember gingerbebe saying that they keep LOs shoes in the car because it's easier to carry him to the car without wrestling on shoes first. I think they put on and take off while he's in the carseat.
- I rely on the TV to help! I was reluctant at first, but while he watches I can put on my makeup and get dressed. And then it's easier to get him to stay still and get dressed while he watches some tv.
- night before I make sure the diaper bag has what it needs. Refill diapers/wipes, change of clothes, snacks, and a water cup.

And again, I have to tell you, you are superwoman.

My answer is to get up earlier, but I get it, it's not for everyone. I wake up at 5:30 most days.

My DH leaves at or before 6 am. I have two boys - 3.5 and 7 months.

Sleep patterns aren't super consistent so it varies, but the norm is usually both boys waking around 6:30/6:45.... This morning my 3.5 year old came in to wake me at 6:30 and hung out in my bed for a few, then the baby was waking up - so I got him and nursed him in my bed. Then we all headed into the bathroom so I could shower and get dressed.... Older LO gets the iPad, the baby sits in his chair with a couple toys.

Then after I'm dressed I usually put the baby in the bjorn or backpack and wear him around while I make breakfast for everyone, pack lunches, and pack up all the stuff for the day.

Breakfast for me & LO is the same - LO gets mini frozen pancakes, a sausage, and fresh strawberries. I make toast and egg whites and cook the sausage with the egg whites, and then cut myself some strawberries to put on my overnight oats that I eat for lunch. Then I get my older son dressed (I change the babies clothes the night before), LO brushes his teeth and feeds the cat, then we head out the door!

Luckily (or not, ha) everyone is up early so we can get everything done... But I don't leave until 8:30... eating the same thing for breakfast makes things move fast. The iPad, although not a great habit, is used to keep older LO happy while I do everything, and if the baby isn't content playing on the floor, wearing him is key.

@macintosh: I was just getting our stuff ready for tomorrow and it made me think of you. How is it going?

We do tv time in the morning. DS watches a show while he eats. Then I let him continue watching by himself (he's 3) while I have a quick shower. Then we both get dressed. Half the time he wants more food, so he eats more while I throw my lunch together and out the door. I used to prep lunches at night when DS had to take one and we left earlier. Right now we leave at 7. DH isn't usually up before we leave unless I need him to bed. I find he just gets in the way.
