I met this mom today who told me she received 3 separate car seats (all duplicates) as well as two strollers from her registry at her shower. It made me wonder if I should put the convertible car seat and umbrella stroller (both are items for when LO gets a little older) on the registry too?
Did YOU register only for the infant car seat (if you did an infant car seat) and the immediate stroller(s) you would be using? Or did you add the big ticket items for down the line as well? Thanks!

We only put infant car seat/stroller on the registry. We definitely needed it and I didn't want someone to buy us a stroller for later on and potentially not get the infant one.

I would register for anything you may need for the first year especially big ticket items. Then if you don't get the infant one you wanted then use the gift cards you receive to get it or return one of the other items you got that you don't want or need now to get something you want or will need right away.
We didn't register for much for our wedding because we had everything. Then I realized a new set of Tupperware, some towels and sheets would have been nice... You can never register for too much.

We bought an UB Vista and a BOB on our own so we didn't have any strollers on our registry. We did register for (and receive) our infant car seat. We chose not to register for an umbrella stroller (we hope not to ever get one) or the convertible car seat (we didn't want it taking up space in our house for the month and months until we started using it).

We don't want to use an umbrella stroller, but we did register for both carseats just in case someone felt generous! We got our infant seat, but not the convertible.

we didnt have a registry but I think its good to register for things you will be using in the 1st year

I haven't been through that end of things yet but I would advise you not to register for a convertible seat because they expire. If you register for it now you could lose a full year of use.

If we had known what convertible car seat and umbrella stroller we wanted, we would have put them on the registry, mainly so we could use our completion discount for them.

@MamaMoose: & @prettylizy: May I ask why you don't ever want to use an umbrella stroller? I've never really thought about it, just seems like everyone always says "and then you'll just be using the umbrella stroller..."
@Cole: That's excellent advice! I was originally just hoping to get enough GCs to use on a convertible car seat and save them for when we need them.

@shopaholic: mainly because of what I've already spent on strollers!! I don't want to buy another one. I live in the burbs and drive an SVU so continuing to use the some what bulky vista is no issue for me.

@shopaholic: We invested (well, my mom invested- thanks mama!) in a rather expensice stroller that is supposed to last a long time. We got the Britax B-ready because it's a good infant to young child with doubling ability and I really want to get my moneys worth out of it. The whole reason we opted to spend the money on such an espensive stroller was that it was light weight and compact, but will take us all the way through two kids.

We aren't registering for an infant seat since we are borrowing a friends. She suggested we do the convertible one cause you never know what people will buy. But we don't want to store it for 6 months. We registered for a Bob and an umbrella stroller. We are borrowing the frame stroller for the infant carrier.

We only registered for the stroller and infant car seat. We registered for (and received) the uppababy vista, and I couldn't see registering for another stroller on top of a $700 one. Plus, I'm really hoping the Vista covers all the bases.
As far as the convertible carseat, we debated about this one. Right now, it's not on there, because there are things we need more/first. If I see our registry is lacking big items towards the end, I may add it...just in case.

@ValentineMommy: I think I will do just that. Our registry isn't too big anyways because I've gotten a lot of the stuff I want myself. If it looks lacking closer to the shower date, I'll maybe add the convertible seat. But also not excited about storing it.

We only registered for infant car seat and stroller. I wish I never registered for the stroller because we never used it and only used the car seat with a stroller frame for the first 7 months until we bought an umbrella stroller! I would probably wait because new stuff might come out...

I put both the infant and convertible car seats on my registry and got both! I wasn't going to add the convertible seat but my girlfriend said I should and she and my other friend ended up getting it for me!

My parents bought both of our strollers, City Select and BOB. And we bought our car seat. Our LO came before our shower, so it was a good thing we purchased the items ourselves.

You should put items on your registry for your LO's first year of life. We listed safety gates, exersaucer, umbrella stroller, car seats, etc.

We registered for our infant carrier as well as our convertible car seats (2 - one for each car). Funny enough we got both of the convertible car seats and not the infant carrier. ha! I would put them all on.

I've gone ahead and registered for a convertible car seat, an inexpensive umbrella stroller, and a Graco SnugRide Car Seat + Stroller combo, plus an extra base I figure I might as well be prepared

We put both. Even if u don't getting u get the completion discount. Also bbb guy said u can register for items up to 2 years or so...
