We visited my friend at the hospital, and he and his wife looked completely overwhelmed by their crying baby!

Bee and I explained to my friend how gas works and how to burp a baby. The baby was crying and crying and the parents were being so gentle with the back patting, and so with their permission we showed them how to get the burp out. There was a huuuge belch, and then the baby stopped crying and went back to sleep. They were kind of amazed (they had assumed babies were fussy sometimes for no reason), and then I remembered that it took us a while to learn that you could burp a newborn pretty hard and it was ok! For the first month after Charlie was born, we were so worried about breaking him!!

What one piece of advice would you give to a brand new, first-time parent?
