We're 13 weeks with our second, so we don't know the gender, but we're starting to try and pick names. Boy names are so hard for us! We finally agreed on one yesterday - Theodore. Any thoughts on a nickname?

That's my DH's name He went by Teddy as a child and goes by Ted now.

I really think they're both adorable but think Theo might age better. Although, he could go by Ted as an adult, as @lawbee11's husband does and I think that's a great option!

@loki: That's what I was kind of thinking too! I love Teddy as a kid and maybe Theo as an adult, but I don't know if that'd be weird transition.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: I kinda feel like Ted sounds more professional than Theo? I don't know...maybe that's because I'm used to it. My DH has Ted, not Theodore, on his resume, business cards, etc. I do call him Theo sometimes in a playful/term of endearment sort of way

@lawbee11: I think I agree. And we like the name Ted, too. I guess, technically, by that age they can choose too!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Definitely!
ETA: My MIL still calls him Teddy and it drives him nuts

@Mrs. Lovejoy: ya i think it might be odd to just switch it up... ted from teddy seems much more natural. and now that lawbee11 mentions it, ted does seem a bit more grown up/professional. so i voted theo but i change my vote to teddy!!! so cute.

Well at least it's sounding like they are both good options! It's actually weird for DH to like both because he's usually so picky with boy names!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Love it and it is on our list as well! Would 100% choose Teddy over Theo but that's our dog So if we went with this it would be Theo for a nn. Cannot go wrong with either!

@Mrs. Lovejoy: My default is Teddy but my friend just had a new Theodore and they call him Theo. I have known friends named Theo and I think it works for both kids/adults. They are both cute and it is a classic name--good choice!

I like the name choice, & for a nn for him while he's little, I prefer Theo.

The Beaver. I never knew why they called that kid that.
I voted Teddy.

My DH's is Theodore, too! If we have a boy, he'll be Theodore also. Personally, I prefer the nn "Teddy"--but that's what my MIL calls DH (everyone else knows him as "Ted") and I loathe it coming from her. Ha!! So for that reason, we'd be going with Theo--which I also like!

Well this is the name we had settled on (Theodore, nn: Teddy), but now DH is having second thoughts. I'm 33W so we have a little bit of time, but I'm totally stressing out! Why are boy names so hard? If anyone has any ideas of names that might go along the lines of Theodore/Teddy, please share!

When we were choosing names before we found out that LO was a girl, Theodore was number 1 on my list. I still like it--maybe your husband will change his mind? Anyways, some other names we were considering were Wyatt, Henry, Oliver, and Benjamin. Of course we had a bunch others which I can't remember right now!
Edited to add: Rhys, Graham, and Reid

@Mrs. Lovejoy: Oh no, I love your choice!
How about Jefferson, Sebastian, Christian, Sullivan, Lincoln
(not sure why all my suggestions end in N....)

@ellewoods84: @lady grey: Thank you! I am hopeful that he changes his mind. We constantly call him Teddy right now, but I'm noticing him saying more and more "baby boy" rather than that. I love Henry, Benjamin and Lincoln from the names you guys picked (others are already taken by friends/family) - but DH has vetoed them all.

@Mrs. Lovejoy: we went through all of that and ended up with Theodore, Theo. Boy names are incredibly hard.
Our puppy is named Gus and sometimes I accidentally call the baby Gus. But otherwise there is no name I like even remotely as well as Theodore.

Theodore was on our short list along with Elias, Jonah, Jeremiah and Tobias. We wound up choosing Tobias (Toby), but I figured I'd share the list in case you like the other names.
Honestly, if he was born when we were in a different mood then he probably would have been named Theodore! We might use it later if we have another son. I think we would use the nickname Theo.
