Where does he sleep at night?

Hello fellow September 2018 mama! I think beyond 4 months is when you can start good habits/break old habits you’re not keen on. I’m no expert as we never had to train DS1 and DS2 is a chronic cat napper currently, but I would just rip the bandaid off so to say. Decide what you want to tackle first. From what you said, i personally wouldn’t be too worried about the nursing or rocking to sleep but rather getting him into his crib. I forget if you’re on mat leave still? It’s so easy for us because DW is home for the year so she can try stuff with him...if you’re not, I would pick a weekend and just don’t go back.

We’ve been doing a nap and night routine, again it’s not getting us long naps but it it is making getting him to sleep easier. I take DS into his room, partially shut his curtains and turn white noise to low, diaper change and sleep sack on, then sit in the rocker with him and sing him 2 songs. Then I fully shut the curtains and white noise loud and we still bounce/rock to sleep with or without his paci. If he hasn’t dozed off in 5-10 mins, I put him in the crib and leave. He rarely will go to sleep but I give him a few minutes to sort himself out and then go in and bounce again. By this time he’s usually good to fall asleep...and wake up 35 mins later ha

As for the timing, DW also has to pick up DS1 and has to adjust the schedule to accommodate. Like she’s had to wake him up a couple times to go get him, or wait to put him down until they get back. I would maybe look at your day schedules and see if there’s a time you could push him longer awake or shorter so that you could maybe nap him before or after the pick ups. If not, we’ll poor second child will have to adapt haha

Where does he sleep at night? That also might be a good place to start with choosing the sleep location first?

I believe I started at 6months. In his crib and did CIO with checks. It helped. I actually started with naps and then did night training. We moved so I wanted him to get use to sleeping in his own room b/c his crib was in our room since day 1. It was tough- all of it but now it’s amazing! He sleeps through the night- 630pm- 6-7am and naps daily for 1-2.5 hours. I use to nurse to sleep/drowsy but he’s weaned now since I am pregnant. He goes down wide awake and knows how to get himself to sleep.

Following because we have a similar age baby who also needs sleep help! I am working on all naps in crib if we are home. Then hoping to tackle night ... right now she always ends up in our bed
She screams like a banshee anytime she is upset and I don’t know how we’re going to train through that. It sounds like someone hurt her she cries so intensely ... even 5 minutes of that is rough!! I am trying to remember how much training helped my son and how it was great for both of us.

@bhbee: I can relate to the screaming. LO did it and I too brought him in the bed. When we moved I had to stop it cause it wasn’t good for any of us and that’s when I started training... I have a little stubborn guy! hehe

@ALV91711: four months definitely was a regression for us! And we also quit the bassinet around that time ... she prefers coziness for sure!
