Mine was through NexGen. I'm not sure what my insurance paid. There was something like $20K worth of charges in my EOB.

I was eligible for something like "compassionate care" (because of a previous diagnosis I assume) so the company only charged me $49. I figure the plethora of charges to my insurance company was them trying to figure out what they could get paid by them.

2) No bill associated with it this time, but we paid $250 out of pocket with my son 5 years ago ( I was under 35 and it wasn't widely used yet)
3) all of it, aside from our copay 5 years ago. I haven't received a bill this time and it was 3 months ago.

I had materniti21 in 2014. I was under 35 but they offered it post seeing a soft marker on ultrasound. I paid about $200 or whatever the company negotiated for when insurance wouldn’t cover - the nurse told me to just call them when I got the bill for the full amount. The really good thing was that they sent it to my insurance anyway and they put the pull the full price tag ($2k?) toward my deductible on my hdhp, even through I only actually paid the $200ish.

How much did your insurance pay for the test? Although the test was about $8000 or more, insurance paid almost $2000 and that's it.

3.5 years ago I did Verifi. I was 32 at the time so insurance did not cover it even with a letter from my doctor. The cost was $2000 I believe but when I called Verifi directly and told them insurance refused to cover, they re-billed me at a much lower rate, $850 I believe.

2) How much did you pay for this test? My EOB stated the test was billed at ~$8k. My insurance covered about 80% so I was left with my amount of $675 or so. I hadn't met my hdhp deductible nor was I going to for the calendar year. So I called my doc and they referred me to the Natera rep. She looked into it and came up with a cash rate of $200 which I could pay with my FSA.

Long story short. If you get a big bill/patient responsibility for these tests, call the company and see what they will offer you. Oh and by the way I am of advanced maternal age so this was technically "covered".

Almost exactly @skinnycow: response was my experience too. Verifi. Doctor’s office told me that if I should not receive a bill over $200 and if I did then I needed to call. However, I never received a bill.

@LindsayInNY: I suppose so. That is the one my OB set me up with. I didn't think I had any other options. I had never heard of that company when I took the test. I still have never heard of it otherwise.

Charged $1100, I paid zero

I had the NextGen one done 2 months ago. My insurance (United) only covers it if you are 35 or older. My doctor's office sent a compassionate care form so it was only $49. I forget exactly what insurance would have been billed, but it was between 10 and 20k.

I originally got a bill for $1500. I called the testing company, and they reduced it to $250, no questions asked. (And I was 36, but it still wasn't covered by my insurance.)

@LindsayInNY: I have the same OB as last time, but this time the test is being done by Q Natal Advanced. I'm still waiting for insurance authorization but was told it should be covered because of my age!

We used Verifi. Insurance denied the claim of ~8k but we haven't gotten a bill from the company. The birth center told us to expect to pay about $100 for the test, so we'll see if we ever get a bill! Interesting that so many others never received a bill from the company!
