I got a call from daycare about a round raised rash on LO head today. I had noticed it at his 4 month appointment last week and our dr said it was just cradle cap but it was way worse today. I'm fearing ringworm since we have dogs but I'm not sure. He goes back to the dr tomorrow to get it checked but I thought I would ask here in the meantime.

My daughter had a rash that looked exactly like this a couple weeks ago, we don't have any pets. Our pediatrician said it was some type of dermatitis. We used otc hydrocortisone and it cleared up a few days later.

Looks like ring worm to me. That isn't necessarily serious or anything though.

That doesn't look anything like my kids cradle caps...both of them had it and it looked more uniform across the top of their head.

Try the baby oil/brush for cradle cap, if that's what it is then it should clear it up. Ringworm (which isn't a worm!) is usually actually spread by people, not dogs, unless they have bald patches or known skin issues. Also usually looks more red. Your PCP will know!
ETA: My LO gets cradle cap in patches, not widespread. So it happens!

Looks like cradle cap to me, but I've not dealt with ringworm at all, so no idea what that looks like.

My son had something that looked exactly the same on his arm around 6 months, and my friend, a PA, suggested putting some hydrocortisone on it. She said if it cleared up it was eczema, and if it didn't it was likely ringworm. It cleared up after a few days of twice-daily hydrocortisone, so we chalked it up to eczema! I'm clearly no doctor-I'll be interested to hear what yours says-but this was our experience with a similar mark.

Funny story, our doctor isn't sure either! So she's having us treat like ringworm as a precaution. Thanks everyone!
