So we haven't been on a real vacation since DS was around 1 year old... he's now almost 4! We are planning a last min trip end of August to Palm Beach, FL and staying at a Marriott timeshare. Looking for recs for things to do and places to eat, thx!

@jellyfish I live about 40 min south of there. That is a very nice area, although not really geared toward kids. I don't mean like inappropriate like Miami or something, just more high end, grown up stuff. You definitely need to have a car.
Also, FYI inland Riviera Beach is a little bit rough.
The Palm Beach Zoo is close by, it is a smaller zoo but very nice. They have a great fountain water play area for kids, bird show, etc. Good way to spend half a day. Next to the zoo is a small science museum as well.
I would also recommend driving up to Jupiter (not that far away, maybe 15 minutes) and visit the Jupiter lighthouse. It is worth it to climb the lighthouse and take the tour. It may be a little much for a 4yo but maybe depends on the kid! (I have a 22 mo). Jupiter is BEAUTIFUL and the views from the lighthouse are amazing. There is also a small nature center and wildlife refuge close to the lighthouse which are worth seeing but won't take long and would be great for a small child.
What else. There is a large water park (Rapids Water Park) inland in Riviera Beach, not that far away, although I think chilling on the beach might be better. Downtown West Palm Beach/Cityplace West Palm is a nice place to walk around and there are a lot of nice restaurants there and shopping.
Have fun! Be prepared for rain in the afternoons especially that time of year. It is very hot and wet!

Are you staying in the Palm Beach Singer Island Resort? It's down the street from a mall with a carousel and train rides and a great play cafe. It has some chain restaurants like Cheesecake Factory there as well. We also had a really great dinner at a place called Food Shack in Jupiter. It's in a strip mall and nothing fancy but it's popular and gets crowded. Our other favorite place is called Palm Sugar in downtown West Palm Beach. Have a great trip!

@FaithFertility: free is even better! I just googled the lion safari and it looks awesome! Now I'm just going to have to figure out how to fit all these activities in and relax!
@MrsADS: great tip on the towel for the fountains!
@Shantuck: think we are staying at ocean pointe? haha I have no idea where exactly that is. It's a bit of a spontaneous last minute decision

Everyone has touched on some really neat spots especially for traveling with a kiddo.
I'd add Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens for some great photos, Howley's for food after the Gardens and Antique Row browsing, and John G's for breakfast on the beach.

My parents winter on Singer Island. We always take the kids to the Loggerhead Marine rescue in Juno Beach to see the turtles being rehabbed.
I also think everyone should go to Publix grocery stores if you don't have one by you because they are awesome. Yes I just suggested a grocery store chain.

Ocean Pointe is the property right next door to the Palm Beach Singer Island Resort. I think it has a small playground there. Our vacations to that area are great because they are just so easy. We fly into West Palm Beach and make a grocery list on the plane. Once we land, we stop at the Publix next to the bridge and stock up for the trip (formula, diapers, food, etc.). The play place at that Downtown at the Gardens mall is called Cool Beans and it is great for a rainy day or when you feel like you've had too much sun (http://www.coolbeansplaycafe.com/).
