We have one today - I am not sure what to talk about at this age? But I am grateful to have dedicated time with her teachers! This is standard for every child in every class at this point in the year by the way - not any special meeting. One topic that I think will be covered is which class she will go to in the fall - Toddlers or 2s. Right now she is an older infant class with babies her age.

@daniellemybelle: were you given a progress report?. At our DCP we are given the progress report a few days before so I base my questions on that - where he should be vs where he is at type questions and what to work on for the future

We always declined the parent teacher conferences because I make a point to chat with her teachers every day about how she's doing/what's going on with her... so I didn't really see a point. I would just make sure she's developing in line with her peers and they have no concern about any behavior they are seeing from her.

Our daycare gives a pretty complete report at the parent/teacher conference – covering social behaviors, gross motor, fine motor, etc. and then we just ask questions based on that. We were comfortable that we knew how she was doing physically, so most of our questions were more about social interactions with LO’s peers.

Wow! I would love that. Our daycare doesn't do that but I do spend plenty of time each day chatting with the ladies and ask about her progress.

Almost always, any questions we had were answered in the rundown they gave us
We wanted to know how she ate, slept, played, etc so we could compare to what she did at home (little rascal insists on a soother at home for nap, but hasn't used one at daycare for ages, for example). You could ask about potty training ideology at this point to get a feel for how they operate.

Thanks all - it was a great meeting! DH put them on the spot and asked what makes LO unique, haha. They fumbled but ended up saying she feels emotions strongly - when she is sad, she is REALLY sad, but when she is happy, she is REALLY happy, and lately she has been showing more and more of the happy side and it is so fun to watch.
@tinyperson: Thanks! We did talk about potty training a little. They don't do it in her class unless you really want because they don't have a little potty but they do in the next class up. They recommended we just explore it at home and follow her lead, though!
@Mrs. Taco: I'm glad we did it! I don't linger at drop off so LO doesn't fuss, and I pick up at the last possible second and I don't want to keep them, so this was good! I'm sure if you asked for a meeting you could have one.
@yoursilverlining: Yep, we got the same thing! I asked about social interaction because I have noticed her yanking toys and hitting other kids on playdates. They said just in the past few weeks she has started doing that but it is developmentally typical and they are working on using words.
@Truth Bombs: I think what we talked about could have been discussed in a pick-up chat so I don't know that it was totally necessary but I am still glad we did it! And I always pick up right when school ends
@Mamaof2: We got the progress report in the meeting! She is meeting all her milestones. They said she is the most verbal LO in the class but she is also one of the oldest.
