Has anybody done pelvic floor therapy? What'd you go for and what was the outcome? Do you feel like it helped a lot?
I start tomorrow for incontinence issues and am not sure what to expect. My dr said I'm not a candidate for surgery until I'm done having kids. I leak pee a lot

Pelvic floor therapy is a routine part of post-natal care in France, so it must be fairly effective for nationalized healthcare to cover it! Good luck!

I did quite a bit while I was pregnant for back pain but I'm not sure if it's the same. lots of exercises with a resistance band. lots of kegals. Though my PT was very emphatic that if I needed someone post-partum the office had someone for that but it was NOT him, which makes me think there is some more *ahem* personal stuff that it entails?

I haven't but want to. I know someone that is a pelvic floor specialist and people that have gone to see her say it's quite life changing!

I haven't but my DH is a physio and says great things about his colleague who does it. He says a pelvic health physio can work wonders and do a much better job than surgery.

Yes, I did! I mentioned to my midwife that I was having some bladder pressure and minor incontinence issues and she immediately recommended it. It was amazing!!!! It was a little strange at first but my physical therapist was very professional and made me feel comfortable. Lots of focused kegal exercises in different positions as well as biofeedback plus abdominal and back strengthening exercises. I also learned about the brain-bladder connection and how to "re-train" my bladder back to normal. My PT said that the majority of women can completely eliminate incontinence issues with physical therapy and by continuing the exercises at home. I highly recommend it to any woman who has given birth!

Yes - it was sooo helpful! I did it around 9 months PP for painful sex. Apparently my pelvic floor muscles were in a constant state of spasm PP - protecting the scar tissue from my tearing. She helped stretch those muscles and taught me how to relax them (opposite of a kegel). The PT def is up close and personal...so be prepared for that.
