I would love to know this too! I finally upgraded my cloud storage when my old phone was starting to die and temporarily deleted all my photos- but they came back! And my new phone has tons of storage. But that doesn’t mean it’s all that safe or organized...

I use Google Photos - it's free and you can set the app to automatically upload your pictures and videos if you're on wifi, or you can choose to upload whenever you tell it to manually. You can also choose the folder from which it uploads. I love this because it's FREE and basically unlimited storage. They also have some fun little features similar to Time Hop and put together photos taken in quick succession into little 'movies'. It's been a lifesaver for me keeping my phone photo storage free and I didn't have to upgrade or pay for more cloud storage which never seemed to be enough.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: It's hard to confirm without getting into the files on your work laptop but I would be very surprised if that were the case. My best guess, without looking, is that the created date updated to the day the file was created on your computer, when you moved the files. But I'm 99% positive there is another metadata attribute on the files called "Date Taken." If you are on a PC searching the files you transferred, make sure you are in the "details" view. There should be an option called "add column" and see if there isn't a column called "date taken." That should give you the date/time the photos were taken, as opposed to when the file was created/copied. I hope that helps!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yes - you can access all your Google Photos as a drive folder, so you can put anything on your laptop into the same location. That also means all your mobile upload photos are avilable on your computer too. Makes printing and photobook making easy as well.

My husband and I share an Amazon Prime account. With that account, we get unlimited photo storage. Our photos are automatically uploaded and stored and we are still just paying for a service we already use, without having to pay for something new. AND we can make photo books straight from prime photos - win.

But we don't do Apple devices so this probably isn't helpful...

I upload all my photos to Flickr. I’ve been doing this since college so I have years and years of saved photos there.

Right now I use both Google Photos and Amazon Photos and I haven't even printed out 2017 books yet, haha! My thought is I have 2 places of storage, plus I will print books.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yes! Once you download the app, it downloads your photos automatically once you open the app. So easy and helpful. I'm all about ease when it comes to things like that.

Does uploading your photos to any storage distort the photo size or will it keep the original so if you want to print later it won’t be fuzzy?

Any recommendations on which is best for maintaining the quality?

@babybunnylove: @MrsBucky: I just grabbed a photo from my Amazon Prime photos and downloaded it. I then went and uploaded it to Walgreens (my preferred printing service) and it looks like it is good to print up to 16x20. I'm not sure what the original would print up to. It is crystal clear, though. I haven't had any quality problems with printing.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Oh nothing like that - google has it's suite of applications - mail (gmail), google drive, etc, all linked to your one account. It actually looks like they separated Google Photos from Google Drive now that I am looking again. It was a Google Drive folder when I got it but see the pic below to know what I mean on the desktop, accessing it from gmail. Clicking on that icon from your mail will take you to all your photos on a computer.

It's the same as the Amazon photos, your pics upload when you open the app, or you can set it to do it in the background I think (I use the open app option though). Printing quality is good, and I think you can choose options for this.

What I like about Google vs. Prime though is that someday, perhaps, we will not be Prime members anymore and I don't want to risk losing or having to do the work of transferring from Prime in that case. With Google, since it's all free there's not really any risk there. I mean, I don't see us not having Prime any time soon but it was something I considered.
