For us, it's a must. But just because I really want it. My parents never took us to see Santa or did any kind of portraits ever (and I love having a pic of J w/Santa on my desk for the holidays).

It's a must for us, but my husband really likes it. We got her Santa pictures done last year and even though she was 8 weeks old, it was so cute!

Must do!! That way you have pictures from every year. I might make R go till she is 18!

Meh. I'm with you, it's not something I'm into. If DH decides he wants to, I'll be on board, otherwise, nope. Now, if they get older & want to see Santa, by all means. We also haven't discussed/decided if we're even going to tell them Santa is real. I never grew up with Santa so I'm leaving towards no.

Not into the Santa thing personally but the pics that result sometimes from these shoots are cute!

I feel like it's a must - at least right now it is! DS1 was around 3 months for his 1st picture and he smiled. He was 15 months the second time around and looked very hesitant but didn't flat it scream. Now this year I need one of the brothers! I totally expect DS1 to scream and cry but I'm completely ok with that! I think the crying pictures are funny. But my son gets over it quickly. If he was truly traumatized and scared, I wouldn't make him to do it.

I didn't do bunny pictures this year because I knew he'd cry. The bunny is creepy anyway!

@Smurfette: I've seen that before and thought it was funny. My niece and nephew have one together from school through 8th grade. The older cousins also joined their baby cousin for a Santa pic. We need to do that again as 3 new baby cousins have been added.

My oldest is 3 and we haven't done this yet. Maybe this year?

Last year we happened on a great Santa at a local shopping center. Free and no line. I think we're hooked. I like the pics but I'm not into the cost and lines.

My brother and I went together to take pics until we were about 21. My mom is a nut about it.

it's a must for us. but we went/will go to a local place that doesn't charge. not the mall with the crazy line!

@Mae: If you go now (november) and on a week day (um...like today I guess since November is almost over)-there is no line!

I had to run into the mall twice last week to pick something up in a hurry and both times, Santa was sitting there, all by himself. I'm sure Saturdays are a different story...

last year when LO was 11 months old we happened to be in the mall where santa was set up and there was no line, so we went for it. we're not doing it this year because it's not a priority and also i think LO would freak out.

@Mae: if you go during the week the line usually isn't too bad. Also check out other places besides the mall. My local fire station does Santa pics as well as the Bass Pro shop and Cabelas.

WE do at my work Christmas party every year and then again in the small town celebration that the in laws live in. (only 200 people in the town ha)

@blackbird: Yes! Feast your eyes on my child. I love that Santa played along. {He only cried on his lap, and stopped immediately after.}

@yin: thanks for that info about the pics! I figure it's still good for the mall to have us come in, right? I'll probably end up buying food or a drink or Christmas presents even if I take my own santa pic. If it was $5 I'd just buy it but for $20, no.

We've gone to the mall a couple of times this month and Santa is always sitting there by himself. I've taken DS (2) to go talk to him and he thinks it's so cool! We are getting the boys picture with Santa done this weekend! We have done them every year!

I'd like to, only because we've never gotten formal pictures done. And he was so cute last year! (I take a zillion pictures, but we've had any done as a family.). Maybe Santa would go for everyone being in the picture? Ha!
