@Mrs Green Grass: oops sorry about that! I deleted my first post that had multiple options. it works now!

DH is getting me a bunch of small things (as he frequently does for gifts), hopefully cookie related. So mini shopping spree, but done by him! He's often better at picking out things I'd like than I am.

My ideal Mother's Day:
Sleep in, D makes me breakfast
Go to the salon for a pedicure
After E's nap, we take a drive. Somewhere we've never been, but closeish. As E likes to say "go on an adventure!"
Find a local restaurant and have dinner, where I will be presented with a sweet card from my boys.

Sleep in and child care are the big ones for me. I'm taking off two weeks ahead of my due date. DH wants me to do a mani pedi during that time-strongly encouraged. Can't complain about that.

So many good things here! haha.
I chose:
mini shopping spree (I really want more workout clothes, and a new swimsuit)
Salon/spa day
house cleaning service

I would want to sleep in, and then have a nice picnic brunch with the family. I would love flowers and then getting away for an hour or so for a pedicure and some time to myself.
When the kids are older I would want DH to get them to make me some homemade cards.

@cascademom: I highly encourage chillin as much as possible during those 2 weeks!!

I want exactly what we're doing: spending a weekend at the coast with our besties (who we just don't get to see enough), a little family photo session, and time with my little love & husband. My husband made a homemade card + got me flowers last year, and it was perfect. I'm easy!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
I voted for house cleaning service, flowers, and a nice meal out. That would be a wonderful day.

My ideal Mother's Day would be I get to sleep in and wake up to the smell of bacon and the sound of my kids laughing. Then my SO and kids come upstairs to "wake me up" (I'd fake sleeping)
After the breakfast I'd like to go to a local thrift shop and get a sun dress. Follow that up with a walk and a picnic somewhere on our walk. Then we would go home and the kids could play outside while I drink a slushie that SO bought me on the way home. After that movies and pizza at home. Perfect day. I am not a huge gift person. The sundress would most likely be considered the monetary part of Mother's Day since my SO likes to buy gifts. Fromy kids I'd just want them to behave and be super loving all day!

I voted a nice day with family, a heartfelt card from SO and a photo album. I'm a sap.

My ideal Mother's Day is getting some time to spend with my family just the four of us. Not having to cook or clean, so eating out that way I get to spend more time with DH instead of him cooking and cleaning. I would also love a handmade card from the girls!

@Freckles: oh, you just reminded me we had a failed picnic attempt last night. Maybe we'll grab dinner and have s picnic instead, weather providing! Haha but dd2 still hates grass so we'll see....

Sleep in and going out for dinner (with or without kids) sounds great to me. Anything else would be a nice bonus.

@Mrs. Pen: I chose the same three!
A day with family is every day for me cause I sah. So no thanks haha
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
It was hard to choose just three, haha! I ended up unselecting family photo shoot because while that sounds nice, I would still feel like we could have spent that money better elsewhere right now. I also unselected going on a little trip because even though it sounds great, we have done that recently and I am tired!
I picked a day to myself, sleep in/breakfast in bed, and a heartfelt letter from DH. He has never written more than 5 or 6 words in a card to me so I would LOVE a letter from him.
Are you going to publish this well in advance of Mother's Day to help our SO's out?
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Since i'm due the day before....my option isn't included
I'd like some kind of jewelry with both kids' names on them or something. But i have yet to decide what I want. so, there's that.
I'm not a big gift person, honestly. A really nice card goes a really, really long ways in my book. And he always nails that. It's all I really cherish.

@regberadaisy: do you guys use a blanket? We have this huge JJ Cole travel mat that works great!

I'd really just like to spend the day doing something fun together just the three of us! I finally get to be a mom out and about on Mother's Day "showing off" my family :).

I already know exactly what I want!
1) sleep in (until 9ish, hah) and have the whole family join me for breakfast and TV in bed
2) a wrist corsage (I know, cheesy, but it's a tradition and I love it, so much more than a bouquet)
3) go to a kid-friendly fancy tea downtown
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
Most of these sound amazing! But realistically I wanted to be around my family and kids on mothers day and do something within our budget.
A) Wake up to a clean house (from SO or a service).
B) Fun family activity
C) Good meal out (where SO primarily takes care of kids)

I would love a easy breakfast with my husband and daughter and a pedicure
But according to our mothers it doesnt really matter what I want to do..... We will be driving 1 1/2 hrs to my ILs small shore house on saturday, sleep over in a highly stressful environment with 6 adults, 3 children under 3, 4 dogs and a cat. Get up on sunday and "do brunch" and then we'll drive an hour to either my parents or my aunts house to celebrate with my family because its also my grandfathers birthday. Then drive another hour home at night. My house will be a disaster since we do all our chores on the weekend, and I'll spend the following week trying to get everything back on track. I know for a fact my husband hasnt even picked up a card and has given me no suggestions on what to get his mother.

When we first started dating SO got me flowers a few times and i told him I'm not a fan of flowers since they don't last long - that i prefer either potted flowers or plants. It has been wonderful - i have plants all over that i remember what they're from ("oh that was Valentines day that year", or my birthday, and he got me a couple beautiful potted orchids when LO was born). So, I think i'll be getting some sort of flowers/plants, but not the cut kind. I also asked him to make a nice dinner for us.

My lo isn't even quite here yet, but besides her safe arrival, all I want is sleep & a pedi! ...Can't reach my toes.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Day with family, meal out and homemade card from lo.
I'll probably get all 3, my husband is pretty thoughtful when it comes to things like that. I did get a gift, as well (a little early).
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I chose
- House cleaning service
- A day to myself to do whatever I want
- Salon/spa day

I just want to not be having Mother's Day dinner with one of my husbands investors and his family. Why he thought Mother's Day with strangers was a good idea I'll never know.
pineapple / 12802 posts
I just want to spend the day with my family. I'm not into gifts (although DH usually gets me flowers or something, which is lovely).
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@oliviaoblivia: oh my gosh. Seriously?! Not cool. I hope he has a surprise in the works for you at some point that day!
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
Sleep in, someone else clean the house and a card from the kids.
pomelo / 5524 posts
I'd love to be able to spend the day with just the 3 of us with a little spa service mixed in while LO naps. We've always had a full house for Mother's Day since I've been a mom and I'd love a quiet day with my little family.
pomelo / 5678 posts
I want to spend the day with DH and LO. It would be nice if DH gave her breakfast and got her ready and made me breakfast. Then I think we are going to an international wildlife foundation to hike and see the birds and take photographs, or the botanical gardens to hike around and listen to the free concert. Then hopefully out to eat!
