@Jess1483: That would be fun to do as a team. DH are on the same level so we could do that!

@jaguar: whoah, cool! I swear I had a pikachu but I don't see it anymore. Wahhh!!!
Not sure if this has been posted but this is a great list of advanced tips on playing the game.

I caught Dratini and Cloyster this morning which got me kind of excited, so I did my own version of the red-circle chart - though now that I'm looking at it, it's definitely missing a bunch I think? Like where is Seel (I have a bunch of those) and Diglett? I feel like this stuff is so region-specific that none of these charts are really accurate.

Here's my version of the other chart. What on earth is that two-headed bird that's supposed to be common? I've never seen that here.

Can't Pokemon from bed rest on the hospital. First world problems hey?
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@PawPrints: Doduos are EVERYWHERE in my neighbourhood. That's all we get.

@jaguar: Oh no, that sucks!! Well, you could burn incense? Sorry you are on bedrest, that has to be tough.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@jaguar: Aww, could you request a wheel chair ride. Maybe you can catch some that way?
Oh, can anyone transfer any Pokemon after the last update? The option is gone for me.

@bluestriped bee: it's not gone, it just moved! Look for the little menu button in the bottom right hand corner when you're looking at a pokemon

I used my lucky egg last night and evolved all the pokemon I've been sitting on for a while. Leveled straight from level 17 to level 19! Afterward my "nearby pokemon" was showing there was a Pikachu skulking around, but I had to head home since it was pretty late. That was very tempting though.
I caught a Weezing (evolved Koffing) and a Wartortle (evolved Squirtle) walking outside today. Exciting!

@PawPrints: That is cool! I rarely see evolved Pokemon in the wild. That lucky egg is still sitting around. I haven't played since I last wrote.

I started a language course yesterday and started playing again. There's so many stops on campus! I was able to do my homework while next to a stop and it was constantly visited by pokemon. I caught a Meowth (that lists says it's common but I've never seen one before). He was really hard to catch!

@bluestriped bee: So funny!!! Oooh and I liked your advanced tips link you posted. There were some new tips on there.
I've taken a break for over a week but played today. I ran out of pokeballs just as all of these New-to-me Pokemon came popping out. The black rectangles below were the ones that got away. My Vaporeon is up to 1200 now. Most gyms near here are hitting 1600 so I'm still lagging now. It's ok, I haven't been going to the gym anyway. With the new update, I doubt I'll play much longer. (I keep saying that!) Just want to collect a few more new ones though. Finally saw Pikachu today. But alas...not enough balls.
@PawPrints: I never saw those two headed birds but once I caught one, I started seeing it more regularly. I've probably caught a handful. Didn't know there were region specific Poke!
Anybody know what the blob in Very Rare is named? I haven't caught it yet.

I hatched this guy today!! I still don't really understand the game but I like to walk and catch the Pokemon.

@anonysquire: Looks like you have a lot of Magmar in your neighborhood as you have a lot of candy! That's pretty rare in our neck of the woods. That's very high CP for being on a lower level. What level are you on? His fire blast looks strong. Go try him out!

@808love: it's a grimer. I have one, but I don't remember whether I hatched it or caught it. It was among the first I had, so I didn't know it was rare.
I finally caught a squirtle. Very rare around here. And bulbosaurs. I haven't even seen one on a nearby screen.
I've been doing gyms more often (I have a lot in the 1400-1500 range and also a 1700ish arcanine. In general I'm not playing as often though as there just isn't new stuff to catch. LO1 (3.5) loves hatching eggs, though.

@808love: that's my first! I hatched him from an egg tonight. I don't know how to fight!!! I'm level 19.
pomelo / 5866 posts
@anonysquire: I'm confused why you would have 26 Magmar candy. Unless that is some whopper of an egg that comes with candy! You must go fight it for fun. I had no idea what to do. Just tapped like crazy.
@Jess1483: Squirtle is rare here but not bulbosaurs. Still I hear people say OOOh a Bulbosaur when they see him. So maybe I'm just a Bulbosaur magnet. LOL. Yes, once you catch most of them...the fun is gone.

@808love: I hatched a Magmar that also came with 26 candies. Dunno why it's different, but it's the only one I have!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
I think it depends on the eggs. I hatched an Electabuzz from a 10k and got some crazy amount of candies. Less from 5 and 2k eggs.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@808love: I have no idea about the candies!! I do notice if I catch a pokemon, they usually come with 3 candies. But if I hatch an egg it comes with a bunch.

@anonysquire: Did you go to Fight Club yet? You only have pride to lose. I'm sure you have a ton of potions etc. When you fill your bag, is that what you dump? Might as well dump at a gym. Ha! I talk like a pro. I've only been to the gym twice.
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@808love: haha I always get rid of the potions!! I should try it but I'm scared. I feel like all the teens around me are so competitive. My highest Pokemon are only like 1100 cp.
pomelo / 5866 posts
Seriously nothing to lose except the potions. You will add a little fun and excitement! Don't have to tell anyone! Hehe. The first time I did it was totally spontaneous and I was alone standing in line. I looked like an idiot grabbing my order tapping away. So yah, you could lose your public etiquette manners too.

DH and I went to a gym today. IT was at a park playground with a building nearby so everyone was spread out and you couldn't see many people you were fighting. There happened to be six yellows in the same area. Great timing. Talk about all walks of life playing, though! Father/son, couple, daddy/baby in a stroller, lady jogger. Was fun as I got to put my guys in gym several times. DH was gym leader not me, because I couldn't figure out how to get the timing right. At one point, DH threw in a 255 Pikachu in the bottom level for kicks. That was funny. When we left, I stayed in the gym for a good two hours considering I had a low level Sparky in there. Took pics of my glory moments.

I saw this in the gym the other day! Hilarious! Like the screen name too.

It's funny, those charts are definitely regional. We were out of town last month for a couple days and I caught 18 magnamites there, just by playing in the evenings for two nights. Those aren't "very rare" in that area. I have not seen one in my home city though.
DH and I wanted to fight a gym the other night so we went for a walk.
There were some little kids playing (Maybe around 10-12 years old) on the way. We got to the gym a ways down, Took it down, and we heard the kids coming and one kid screaming, like a high pitched, screechy cry. Kind of like if a kid throws a tantrum for not getting his way. Yikes! We left quickly! Didn't need to deal with that!
Even after walking for 5 minutes, we could still hear the kid screech now and then - I'm guessing his friends were taking the gym from him too or something.
I told DH we should go early in the morning or late at night when the kids in the neighbourhood are asleep and just claim all the gyms haha.
