My 21 mo old daughter is possibly showing signs she’s ready to start potty training but being a FTM, I wanted to get some thoughts/advice.

Over the last week, she has been somewhat anxious if she poops in her diaper and will let me know by saying “peepee” (but it’s definitely poop). I acknowledge her right away and go get stuff to change her and she acts like she could care less if I change her....

Over the weekend, she pooped in the shower (she typically showers with me) and had a full blown meltdown. I didn’t scold her at all but tried to reassure her it was ok and quickly cleaned her up. However, since then, she’s been acting nervous/crying at bath or shower time. I try to redirect but it always ends in hysterical crying. She will start saying “peepee” (which I assume she is actually referring to pooping) but I don’t know if she needs to go or she’s afraid of what happened.
However, the last 2 nights, as soon as we get her out if the bath/shower, she has peed on the rug. So is she really able to hold it throughout the shower and really needs to go at her young age? She’s not in there more than 10 minutes.

What would you do???? It doesn’t matter if it’s in the shower with me or if my hubby gives her a bath. I feel so sad for her.

We’ve occasionally sat her on the potty, which she isn’t afraid of, but she loses interest within seconds and has never successfully done anything.

Tips or suggestions? Thanks! Pic for attention 😜
