My 16-month-old son will be having surgery at the end of the month. It's a minor procedure but he will have to be under general anesthesia. The incision will be on the side of his head and he's a super super active toddler, so I'm most concerned about him re-injuring himself while recovering. In the worst case scenario the surgeron said we could put his arms into splints so he can't injure himself, but that sounds so sad to me. I'm trying to think of alternatives....maybe a protective helmet or a cone like a dog wears after surgery?? Anyway just wanted to see if anyone has experience or advice about taking care of a little one after surgery - what should I be prepared for?
