Hey guys, so I've been taking Endometrin 100 mg suppositories 2x/day since about 3 DPO. Today I am 13 DPO. I am on it because my progesterone levels were low at 7 DPO last cycle and now they want me to be on it after O. It's quite expensive though! It costs me $150 for 21 suppositories. Has anyone else been on a different suppository such as Crinone or Prometrium? I haven't started any intervention yet (first Clomid cycle next month) and was just wondering if anyone else was put on a different one during the "tww" to help with possible conception!! Thanks!

I was started on Prometrium from 3dpo until 14dpo (or 12w). I had the option of doing vaginially or orally. I chose vaginally, less side effects apparently. I did it two cycles, we then concieved and i'm now almost 12 w and about to end them. They are expensive but fully covered by my insurance so it's free!
I'm on two 100mg pills a day (morning and night). They aren't that bad, but looking forward to being done with them.

I was put on Crinone starting 3DPO 2x/day, which would carry up until week 10 of pregnancy. I have been doing that for the past three cycles and have not had a BFP yet. Although I am not sure if Crinone would be any cheaper. My insurance covered the cost, but I was able to see that the insurance paid just over 1k for about 4 boxes.

I took prometrium twice (once to induce cycles, once during pregnancy) and they were also expensive!
My insurance covers no fertility interventions, so I assume that's why they're so $$$.

@nicole112: I took Prometrium after my IVF cycle and it was about $120 for 30 tablets which only lasted me a week! My insurance covered it as a regular prescription because it can be used for other things besides fertility but I am in Canada so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I also took prometrium, both orally and vaginally. My insurance covers it, but there is like a $15 charge.

So, the prometrium was used to help sustain a pregnancy, right??@Eko: Thanks! Ok, so it sounds like the Crinone is used to help sustain a potential pregnancy as well, right? It's crazy how expensive it is! Right now my insurance has no prescription benefit so I have to pay out of pocket and according to goodrx.com Crinone is much much cheaper. I want to bring it up to my RE to see if a different progesterone suppository would be as effective! TY

@nicole112: Yeah the Crinone is suppose to help sustain as well, which is my issue in the first place. I have not had issues conceiving, only having early m/c's. My doctor ended up ordering my prescription through a local fertility pharmacy. The website is http://www.villagefertilitypharmacy.com/. They have a bunch of information for people who self-pay for their medication. I am not sure if the information is helpful for you, but it's there.

@nicole112: You might also try going right to the drug company website to see if they have any coupons. Thankfully my pharmacist was able to suggest that to me a few times lately when things ended up being pricey!

@nicole112: This is my first cycle on endometrin too. I also started 3 days after O but the first few days I was taking the white little bullet suppositories the pharmacist compounds for you. I called my RE and asked if I could get something else because they were falling apart a soon as I took one out of the plastic. I like the endometrin better because it's less messy in my opinion but my insurance won't cover it either so I'm not sure how many cycles I'll be able to do it (hopefully I won't need to for too long!). They offered me a coupon when I picked it up yesterday. 21 for $96 instead of $140. If you can't switch I would def ask about the coupon next time. I go through freedom fertility. Good luck!

Cheaper options: use goodrx, prometrium, or both. I used prometrium vaginally.

@nicole112: Hopefully you found the $50 coupon on their website-- you can use it once every two weeks. I'd call around for pricing- my pharmacy is $109/box of 21 so $59/box if I'm using the coupon. Freedom Fertility Pharmacy prices are lower than $150, I think, and they do free shipping too.

@nicole112: Can I ask what your progesterone levels were at 7dpo? My doctor wants to test for 3 consecutive months, but my first levels were 6.8, which is on the low side from what I can tell. I also had a mc in July and my progesterone levels were very low. I'm not scheduled to talk to Dr. until November, but I'm wondering if progesterone suppolements might help me. Thanks

@Spinny: At 7 DPO, my levels were a 7. They started me on 100 mg 2x/day from 7 DPO- 14 DPO and they did rise. My Dr. wanted to see anywhere above 10. I think (I mean I'm not a Dr!) but I think the progesterone would most likely help you! They say progesterone can't hurt as far as I understand. They want me on it because this cycle and last could have been potential natural pregnancies and "just in case" take the progesterone to help sustain a potential pregnancy. GL!

Unfortunately she's making me wait until November to meet with her to discuss results and decide what to do. Did your Dr. prescribe based only off of 7dpo results for one month? Regular OB or RE?

@Spinny: I'm sorry she's making you wait until November! Luckily it's only now one month away. My RE did prescribe me progesterone after the 7 DPO results and a few months ago my regular obgyn checked it at CD 21 (first blood work for ttc) and it was low but they didn't say anything about it! So my RE wants me on it a few days after I O until a pregnancy test in the office. And when I do get pregnant they will keep me on it for 10-12 weeks of pregnancy.
