I say "we are going to a pumpkin patch" but really it a huge field full of pumpkins - They are grown elsewhere and then put in the field. So weird.
Does anyone actually go to a patch and have to cut the stem to get a pumpkin?

The pumpkin patch we went to last weekend (we were there for apple picking) were still on the vines and ppl "picked' them themselves. They also had pre-picked pumpkins people could choose.
Last year, we picked our pumpkin from a prepicked batch.

We go to one where they actually grow the pumpkins, but a ton of them are cut off the stem for easier picking. They have snips around if you find one that is still attached.
We take a horse-draw wagon out to the field. So fun!

@TemperanceBrennan: Same. They are still out in their patch, but a majority of them are pre-snipped to make it easier. If you want to actually cut one, you have to find a worker to come and cut it for you.
