I just caught DD cutting her clothes. I didn't actually see her doing it, but the fact that the pants she was wearing was brand new and I mean literally brand new because I just asked her to try it on (a hour before) to see if it fits. She was quietly playing with her dolls and drawing them little outfits, cutting them out and taping them on. But when it was time to eat, I saw the obvious hole on her new pants. I asked her if it was an accident. She said she "didn't mean to", but I'm pretty sure it wasn't an accident. It's really frustrating because it's happened before!

The previous times, I would find one small hole and it looks like it's been stretched out by poking her finger through it. For the first two times, I gave her the benefit of the doubt because the clothes were older. But the third time this happened, it was more obvious that it was cut (barely nicked) by scissors. I lectured her then and reminded her about the rules about cutting things she's not supposed to cut.

Now that it's obvious she's cutting her clothes. I ended up taking her beloved scissors away and lecturing her. Is there anything else I should be doing? She's 4.5 yo and doesn't get allowance yet, so making her buy clothes isn't an option.
